Loved your work, Carl. Hate your idiot son, though, and of which I'm sure you had a large part in directing, RIP anyway, for what it's worth.

He made one of the most wonderful shows ever on television, worked in the funniest writer rooms that ever existed, and was one half of a comedy duo that included Mel Brooks.
Mr Reiner's politics didn't interest me when he was alive, and they don't now either.
I am deeply grateful for his life and his contribution to mine.

Just watched a documentary on Mary Tyler Moore's life and he was featured prominently in it. It was very interesting and enjoyable.

If you think Carl was apolitical, you obviously haven't seen his Twitter account. He was a moonbat liberal, TDS fanatic, hated President Trump with the same passion as his idiot son. Concerning Meathead, the apple really did not fall far from the tree.
Carl, a self confessed and proud atheist Jew, should know the truth by now.

He's a genius now. Well, isn't that always the way, but how was he, in real life I mean. (credit to some long forgotten 1940s western movie for that great phrase). In real life, I guess he was okay.

Carl Reiner came across as a thoroughly decent man but was no comic genius. His gift was associating with truly funny people, by luck or design. If you look at his film credits as director or screenwriter, very thin gruel.
And then there's that horrible son of his, any earned good will is out the door, such a legacy...

He was a giant in comedy! He gave us so many laughs through the years. Loved the stories he told as he has worked with and knew all the greats. (How could such a nice & talented guy have such a meathead for a son?)

This obit omitted for some reason the funniest and by far most outrageous film Reiner directed-Where's Poppa?. Not so thin gruel at all-comic genius. Forget his politics. RIP.

Not a classic, hardly at the forefront of anybody's mind tbh.
OK at best, like Reiner's whole career.

He wrote funny stuff, that is good. He created a nasty festering, angry lunatic leftist as a son, sad to say.
The latter doesn't quite erase the former, but it is a big part of his legacy, and not in a good way.

FWIW Reiner maintained a social media presence and was every bit as toxic as his son.
