This has stunk from the beginning. When politicians get to choose whose business is non essential this is not the USA. They should be forced to review these "public health" decisions DAILY with hard data.

Sorry, Mr. Ducey, As a resident of Arizona, I'm with the gym owner on this. Your response to this pandemic has been less that leaderly. If I want to go to the gym, then let me go.

He makes a fair point. Notice how liquor stores and convenience stores selling lottery tickets are all allowed to remain open. Why? Those bring in all those nice, juicy sin taxes to the state.

Hubby works in radio. Their advertising (i.e. their entire income) had fallen off so much—they fired 70 people in his office and they are not being hired back. I salute this gym owner as these small, local businesses that are finally re-opened are the bread and butter to the radio industry. If they get shut down again...I don’t even want to think about the impact to the them and the adjacent businesses that rely on them. It makes me very angry and sick. We’re all just barely holding on!

The gym owner wants evidence. I am surprised no one has sued as no evidence has been provided that social distancing or masks do anything. In fact the CDC has said they can only flatten the curve. As for flattening the curve for hospitalizations, they are saying in Houston they need to reserve space. But the hospitals say they are empty. And the ICU's , the hospitals say they can expand and use the other rooms, that there is nothing special about the rooms. Our constitution is the basis of all law, but it has been suspended, and the law is now proclaimed by the edicts of the Governors and Mayors. There is no legislation that has passed that mandates social distancing or masks.

#7 mentions radio, and I'm glad! I've had it with these "Morons in the Morning" shows that think they can just parrot these ridiculous talking points about Covid, BLM, Junteenth and whatever leftie feel-good bilge is being tossed around these days. If they have no critical thinking skills, or if they are not permitted to use them, then I would prefer to let the thinking be done by people like the owners of this gym. I've been an "essential worker" this whole time and my life has only been inconvenienced by all of this. But my heart goes out to all the folks that have lost everything. I would think at least a couple of these radio types might start speaking to or at least trying to speak for these poor people who have never done anything to deserve all of the pain and suffering they have had to endure. At least acknowledge that they are suffering, for God's sake! One long-time nitwit here in Phoenix called them morons. Sorry, but I do hope she is one that gets fired, or at least discovers that all those morons who used to spend advertising bucks on her time no longer consider her worth their time. And, if you're one that works for the station but you're not on the air, you might want to persuade these airheads to have a bit more compassion.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot accused President Donald Trump of targeting Democratic, female mayors in larger U.S. cities with "misogynistic and racist rants" after the president wrote a letter to her on the city's increasing violence. "What's abundantly clear over this last month in particular, there's some obvious dots to connect as part of his regular rotation of criticisms," Lightfoot said during an unrelated press conference Monday. "He has started attacking and trying to undermine every big city Democratic mayor, especially the women."

Dr. Anthony Fauci says he would “settle” for a coronavirus vaccine that’s 70 percent to 75 percent effective – but warned that the US may not achieve herd immunity to the contagion if too many people refuse to be vaccinated, according to a report. “The best we’ve ever done is measles, which is 97 to 98 percent effective,” the top US infectious disease expert told CNN. “That would be wonderful if we get there. I don’t think we will. I would settle for [a] 70, 75 percent effective vaccine.” (Snip) A recent CNN poll found one-third of Americans said they would not try to get a vaccine — even

To get in, though, guests will need to reserve a spot. That's among a slate of changes in store at the Lincoln Park Zoo, Brookfield Zoo and Shedd Aquarium. The sites will only admit 25 percent of their usual capacity, indoor habitats will remain closed, and most guests will be required to wear face masks.

Decisions on abortion and separation of powers demonstrate how good ideas about the law become empty words on a page. T here is a saying — perhaps as old as Aristotle — that courage is the first virtue, because it makes all the others possible. We usually associate courage (or its absence) with leadership by elected officials: There are times when it is hard to stand up for your principles, to stand against your own party, or both. From judges, we are told, the important thing is to follow, not to lead: to have the ascetic self-discipline to apply the Constitution and laws as written,
