Even in States with Rising Cases

The latest data show that death rates from coronavirus or COVID-19 are stable or falling in many states, including those that have shown a recent spike in the number of coronavirus cases. On Friday, Texas and Florida paused their re-openings, as both states showed a surge in new COVID-19 cases. At the same time, data from the New York Times COVID-19 dataset, obtained on GitHub, shows that death rates in Texas and Florida are falling, at least for now. Death rates were calculated by dividing the number of deaths by the number of confirmed cases, as of each date reported. They are expressed as a percentage of known coronavirus
The President, and every Republican needs to re-iterate, over and over, that the main reason for shutting the economy down, was to ensure the hospital system didn't get over-run, and bought some time to build the necessary PPE, ventilator and hospital bed numbers.
The CDC and WHO, both knew cases would rise once the economy opened back up.
We do need to do it safely as possible, and it wouldn't hurt if the President suggested people wear a mask. Don't let the Dems control and spin this topic.

The media switched 3 weeks ago from reporting deaths to reporting cases. The media realized that DEATHS were going downj while increased testing was causing cases to INCREASE. Only report the bad news is what drives the media. Anything that makes Trump look bad is good news and anything that makes Trump look good is ignored.

I don't think we really have rising cases in Houston, but we do have Democrats in charge, and rising politics and general mayhem. We are likely to see lockdowns until after Nov 3. The Democrats have unleashed their thugs and emptied the prisons, thinking that is persuasive for voting for them. Not exactly.

Just read a terrific article by Daniel Horowitz, I think it was, detailing exactly where these cases are popping up. They are mainly in southern states, in counties close to the border. Mexico is now getting hit hard, and our Visa and Green Card programs were never stopped, when our borders were closed. This is NOT from careless re-opening strategies in red states. These are new cases from Mexico. No one crossing the border is being tested before they are let in. I knew something was very, very fishy about these new COVID stats.

Good news for America.
Meaning, by definition, bad news for Democrats

I'm amazed that no one in government or industry has actually tried to compile any statistics on the infection rate for people who have travelled on airlines. The MSM keeps repeating the obvious, that people have to sit close together on flights which should increase the risk, but if masks and sanitation procedures are in effect is the risk of flying significantly greater than going to a restaurant or barber? How would people respond if they knew that the probability of getting COVID on any flight is a fraction of 1 percent? Why is there no data on this critical rate?

More testing creates more cases. I wonder how many of those people testing positive for the Chinese virus, never knew they had it? I tested positive, but don't recall ever feeling sick, and I'm 66 years old.

The media won't report anything positive and for some reason Trump and Pence continue to let Fauci do the talking.

I think there are a lot of false positives. Otherwise, the hospitals would be full.

The death rate is .02. Or 1/200th of a percent of those testing positive will actually die FROM it. I will take my chances.

Masks will not stop the virus. They are virtue signaling devices that I refuse to wear. They trap bacteria, allow the virus to penetrate them, and are hazardous for people with lung conditions and young children.
Any news the media can hype up to make the President and his administration look bad, they will. Nothing would please Democrat’s more than more cases of the virus. Want they need to be reportIng is the number of new deaths.

They need to stop testing! Why test people who have no symptoms? Test positive. Nothing changes. They go home and live their life the same as always. They feel fine. What do you expect them to do? They might tell them to self quarantine. So then what? They are still positive, and go on with their life because they are fine!. The only REASON I see for all this testing (all of a sudden) to to get the "cases" up so that they can try to shut down the economy AGAIN! I think if someone has symptoms, fine, get tested. Otherwise, it's a wast of time. Some people test negative. Are they going to get tested every week just to be sure? This is crazy!

It was reported in a local (Florida) paper a few weeks ago that ANY death of a person who has tested positive is counted as a "Covid Death". So if you fall down the elevator shaft, or are run over by a truck, or eaten by a shark you will be reported as a "COVID 19" case death.
The stats are inflated.

This will all be solved if we could just HURRY UP! and get the tracing program rolling in every state.
Think I heard our governor say that we will need at least 6000 new state employees just to get this up and running. Test positive? Give us the names of everyone you've been within 6 ft of -or who wasn't wearing their sacred mask?

I think that #10 may have a good point.
One of the big "surprises" of this virus is that 60-90% of the people who test positive (important to say it that way) have no symptoms.
Two possibiliies:
1) the disease is very odd, affecting the majority not at all but a small minority very severely, killing many.
2) the tests are faulty with a large portion of false positives which are identifying Wuhan flu infected persons who have something else, perhaps previous exposure to a similar virus, or current exposure to another virus which is harmless.
Another puzzle piece which fits the "bad test" hypothesis is the information that some researchers have reported that "you can get this flu a second time, even if you have already had it". This, if true, is extremely unusual. Typically getting a viral infection gives the person a solid immunity to the virus for an extended period, often for many years. If this one doesn't do that, perhaps it is because the test which shows that you had the virus is wrong, you had the psuedovirus which fools the test, and therefore can still get the actual virus at some future date.
I have been skeptical of their hastily prepared testing since day one. Still am a bit skeptical. How accurate are the tests? I don't think we have a good answer right now.
I'd love to ask my cellular biologist friend about this, but he has a very serious family health crisis he is going through and I won't bother him now.
