On Tuesday in Florida, the Palm Beach County Commission voted to mandate that all residents over the age of two begin wearing masks while out in public starting at 12:01 am Thursday morning. In response, an assortment of local residents vociferously lambasted the commission reportedly for, among other things, “killing people,” “obeying the devil’s laws” and behaving like modern-day Nazis. Ouch. Watch some of the blowback below: /snip for tweet/ “You literally cannot mandate somebody to wear a mask, knowing that that mask is killing people,” one resident said. “It literally is killing people.” “We the people are waking up, and we know what a citizen’s arrest is,

Read the comments after Kurt Schlichter's article. These maskers are gonzo. Virulently anti-Trump, and I doubt you could find a Christian in the whole lot. Re: Cooper's edict - confusing. Must wear a mask if 6 foot social distancing cannot be maintained. What if I can maintain it? Does that mean I'm exempt? When they herd us into the cattle cars, I guess it's masks on.

Mask are the best way to stop the virus? Really? Most people wear cloth mask. Good studies from the 70s showed us back then cloth mask were useless after 10 minutes. Paper mask last a few hours, not all day. Mask are like the security systems (TSA) at airports. All show with little results.

Along with the new mask law, there are exceptions if a) you are protesting, b) you are rioting, and b) in some jurisdictions if you are black.
You can't make this crap up!

The masks are good for containing some of the viral load shed by symptomatic patients. That's it. It won't significantly protect healthy people from exposure to the virus - look up the size of the virus and the size of the 'aerosols' and dust motes it may ride around on, then the porosity of N95 masks (including the gaps on the sides since it's not an airtight fit. Then get back to me about how it prevents exposure. Plus, there is to date no actual 'scientific' evidence that those who may be infected but are asymptomatic have infected anyone.
Face it, you're going to catch this eventually, one way or the other. Well over 90% won't have any or any significant symptoms. The usual at-risk patients for flu and colds need to protect themselves, just like always. The rest of us? Wake up.

And guess what take effect today in Fort Bend County, Texas?
"The county’s order requires commercial entities’ employees and visitors to wear face coverings when in an area or performing activity that involves close proximity with co-workers or the public. Failure of the commercial entity to comply with the requirements may result in a fine up to $500 for each violation. Violations may be reported to 311 or 281-275-2900."
Funny thing is that you don't have to wear a mask in a bank or other "high security" area. Oh, and you can pump your gas without one, too. Yes, the "Judge" (think county executive, not judicial) is a Democrat.
Don't mess with Texas...

Where was this concerned Commission when Black Lives Matter were rioting in the streets, unmasked, and destroying business properties last month?

Mandating the wearing of a mask on a 90+ degree Florida day at 95% humidity would tend to make people a little testy and apparently it has. I think the "officials" that were obeyed during the first shutdown are going to lose this round.

Check out the fines being imposed for not wearing a mask. It's just another tax, pure and simple.

I am just laying in wait for the 30 year old know it all who decides to lecture me for being maskless.
If you are fearful, STAY HOME. But do not demand that I match your hysteria level.
Short exposure helps to strengthen your immune system. You are ruining your immune systems with all the hand sanitizers and masks, which DO NOT protect you from a tiny virus. A N-95 mask would stop 95% of it, but you would really be suffocating in that mask if you had it on properly. That cloth or paper you have on your face there does about as much good as wearing a pant-liner on day two of your period. It's useless!
Now if you are coughing and might have covid, please wear any mask you have as you go to the doctor and other than that, STAY HOME.

The City of Charleston, SC is meeting tonight to consider mandating this idiocy with large fines. If they do, I guess I will just stay home and let my husband do the shopping. He doesn’t mind wearing a mask but I simply will not comply.

It is worth reading the whole article. Best laugh of the week goes to the statement by the woman who said she didn't wear a mask for the same reason she didn't wear underware.
I always wear a mask because I am high risk. Today, I got out of the car to hand something to someone expectantly and forgot. The person I helped didn't have one on either. Are we conditioned yet ?
