Disney will retheme Splash Mountain to its only film to feature a Black princess, The Princess and the Frog. Disney announced Thursday that the ride—currently themed to a film some Disney fans say is the company’s most racist, “Song of the South”—will get a makeover at both Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. During nationwide anti-racism protests, Disney fans took to Twitter a couple of weeks ago to demand Disney revamp one of its most iconic rides and erase any ties to “Song of the South.” A Change.org petition demanding the change that garnered over 21,000 signatures

Disney has been anti-American since Walt died. How about a bLACK Struggle ride?

"Princess" is the ultimate of elitism and extraordinarily sexist and cisgendered. "Frog" is racist and offensive to anyone who may have any French ancestry, and may refer to an extremely elitist form of non-vegan animal cruelty.

There will be no pleasing the mob. Every ride or attraction will be deemed to be offensive, lacking diversity, or a shrine to slavery.

Putting on my woke hat here ... princess is white privilege, and frog obviously means Pepe. So Disney just renamed the park for white nationalism. Uh oh.

Absolute idiocy. I have two DVD copies of "Song of the South." Uncle Remus is by far the kindest, wisest character in it. It shows a wealthy white boy, a poor white girl and a poor black boy all playing together as equals. And it's set after the Civil War: the black people aren't "happy slaves," they're paid farm workers, which is made clear in a plot point when the father has to earn money to pay them. I have a film critic friend who'd never seen it, only heard evil things about it. I showed it to her. At the end, she had tears in her eyes and said, "That's not racist at all! It's a beautiful film!" I said, "I KNOW!!"

The "crime" of "Song of the South" is that it shows happy black people living comfortable lives on a post Civil War plantation in Georgia. The prevailing message to the young boy is, "Don't worry, be happy living in your current state and never leave home because there's nothing but trouble out there in the world". Its understandable given the turmoil and history of black migration, urbanization, and segregation that both black and white people would find this message offensive or dismissive of their struggle.
My problem with this response is that it implies no one can depict black life in any artistic work without making it a political statement about slavery or segregation. This seems to be censoring a lot of potential insight into black culture that is "just life" and apolitical. Maybe Disney should try to make a musical movie of Toni Morrison's "Beloved" and see how the kid's respond to it.

Why don't they add an eighth dwarf and name him Diversity?

Meghan Markle was never a princess, now not a duchess either. Silly; Disney, now a leading light for cultural Marxism in which everything is in constant flux, was founded by an unapologetic racist. Oh, and "frog" is insensitive to melanin-deficient French people, although they don't count.
