A Nashville prep school for girls has ended its annual George Washington event after determining it wasn’t inclusive enough in the wake of the George Floyd protests. Harpeth Hall School announced last week that after “years” of discussion it was ending the annual “George Washington Celebration”—a tradition that began in 1913 and “experienced many evolutions over the decades,” the school said in a statement to The Tennessee Star, The Daily Wire reported. Ms. Hill said school officials determined the celebration “is not consistent with or relevant to the way that we teach history today,” and that “it does not demonstrate the significant
The Father of his Country, the first president, framer of the Constitution, the first general of the army and the namesake of the nation's capital is not consistent with or relevant to history?
What are they teaching otherwise? Grimms' Fairy Tales?

They bowed to the emotional blackmail of THE MOB. History is not about in inclusiveness , it's about facts.

Leading a nation to freedom at the certain risk of his own life takes a back seat to race and gender in today's protected society. If these punks feel so strongly about "social justice" let them risk their own blood spilled on the ground, like our forefathers did.

Ummm - - and when does any "black" event - - anywhere - - acknowledge the "significant role" of white people?
What's that? Never?
Yup - - that's what I thought.

That's the problem right there....
"...with how we teach history today"
They do not teach history. They teach false revisionist "history"
So, we cannot pay homage to our First President because he was a white male and to do so is not inclusive enough. If "he" had been one of the non-white, non-cis-male persons, they we can have a celebration....otherwise, no
AAAACCCCKKK! I can't handle this insanity anymore. Why are WE letting them do this??? Because they are more vocal and bullies??? Dammit, there are MORE of us. We CAN stop them but we have to stop being cowards!!!! And we must demand our representatives stop being cowards or we will vote them out!!! Come on! Let's fight this!!

Significant role in WHAT? Sorry, this country was founded by a modest number of incredibly well educated, and moral white men. They created a free society which was far better than anything that had existed on earth before. That it was less than 100% perfect at the outset is now seen as reason to disrespect these great men.
I won't buy their childish, ignorant, hateful, anti-historic, non-factual stories and their violence.

Time to bring an end to Black history month because it ignores the significant roles of Whites, Asians and Hispanics in our nation's history.

Instead of beating up on people from the past for not living up to 21st century standards, perhaps, point out how far we have come. Because at this rate, only woke leftists from THIS decade will be worthy of note.
Instead of indoctrinating history through a 2020 lens, point out the differences and provide context. The entire planet was, until recently, and in many countries still is sexist, racist, homophobic, bigotted etc. Women in most islamic countries are still treated as chattel and slavery still exists in many of those same countries.
How about we celebrate how far we've come instead of blowing up the country, culture and history over percieved slights, statistically insignificant racism and sexism and hurt feelings.

This more of an effort by the ‘woke’ side to hide the lack of accomplishment by blacks then the denigration of the white men who created this country. There is that too, of course, because they were accomplished and brilliant men and undeniably white. That’s why the revision of textbooks exalting the smallest contribution of blacks in history. They will always be disappointed because true history cannot be changed especially in this worldwide Information Age. I say this with due respect and admiration for brilliant blacks like Dr. Ben Carson, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams and thousands of others like them.

Washington will still be here, standing tall. The girls only diminish themselves, and show their ignorance. I would suggest removing the certification for this school.

Well well well Harpeth Hall’s famous alum Reese Witherspoon’s reaction is sure to be interesting. This is disgusting although as an elite girl’s school, its almost expected right now.
When it comes to insulting the father of our country or diminishing his unequalled service to the foundations of my country, I almost cannot bear it.

What a bunch of bullcrap. How about a new annual George Floyd Celebration instead? Celebrate the gentle giant who had plans to go to medical school and become a pediatric brain surgeon, and volunteers to tutor schoolchildren in math and science, and volunteered at a Jewish Hospice Center. Celebrate the life of a brave man who had his important life cut short because of racial inequality. Would that make all of you ignorant morons feel better?

Back in the 60s there was an actor, and I use the term generously, named George Hamilton who sought to have the deepest tan ever. So was he a person of colour? Is our goal a colour blind society or one the colour meter is applied to judge merit? All I know is whatever we do is wrong and non woke.

You think you actually teach history? Bwahahahahahaha, that is the biggest whopper of your profession. Only real and honest history I have ever listened to is the collection of Michael Medved he put together about 20 years or so ago. You can learn more history just by listening to his talks than you would ever learn in school right now. Don't be blaming history, history didn't ignore women. The Leftists did when they started cutting out massive portions of history and not teaching it. This is on the Left/Democrats. Not on George Washington.

Intelligent teachers would have the George Washington celebration. They could have another day to celebrate women and minorities. No celebration would be possible at all if George Washington and his fellow patriots had not laid the foundations of freedom in this country. I guess that lesson plan would be too lofty for the teachers who are only taught how to foster anti-Americanism in their classrooms. Thank God that I was taught about patriotism and American greatness back when I was in school.
