Interior Minister Maria Paula Romo said Friday it is not possible to return to the red light quarantine restrictions that Ecuador maintained for more than two months. (Snip) “We believe we have mitigated the worst effects of the Covid outbreak and we must continue on the path of restoring our normal way of life.” (Snip) “We have not only suffered severe economic impacts, with at least 200,000 people losing their jobs, but there has been extreme social and psychological damage as well,” she said. “The number of women and children injured and killed in the past three months is at record levels.”   Corrections*

Comments:

This is Ecuador. God bless Paula Romo. Ecuador has a firm policy of being a good world citizen so they acted on the WHO advice. WHO betrayed their trust imo.

Finally someone willing to state the obvious truth. No city, state, nation can survive if its population returns to shut down. Now it's time to admit that it was a huge mistake to shut down in the first place.

ATLANTA   - President Donald Trump made a series of promises at a campaign event in Atlanta on Friday in a bid to woo Black voters, including establishing Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of U.S. slavery, as a federal holiday. Trump, who announced the promises less than 40 days before the November presidential election, also pledged to designate two groups as terrorist organizations: the white supremacist Ku Klux Klan and the amorphous movement known as antifa that opposes fascism. He also promised to increase access to capital in Black communities, create more jobs, support Black-owned businesses and expanding opportunity zones.   Corrections*

Ecuador is facing one of its worst ever economic crises this year according to the Central Bank of Ecuador (ECB). In projections presented last week, ECB says this crisis could be worse than the one seen in 1999 when the country’s currency collapsed. The ECB had said in January—before the virus outbreak and the plunge in the price of crude, Ecuador’s main export—that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) would likely grow 0.7% this year (snip) The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects a contraction of the country’s GDP by 6.7% in 2020.

With coronavirus cases on the rise and over 2,000 people in quarantine in New York City alone, it’s looking increasingly likely that many of us will have to spend some quality time at home in the next few weeks. Wondering how not to go crazy while eating canned goods in your closet-sized bedroom? The answer, obviously, is TV. There’s a lot out there to watch, but we’ve rounded up some of the best movies and shows streaming now, and we’ve organized them as Jewishly as possible: based on how much, and about what topics, you’d like to worry. There are few more pitiful sights than the far-Left scuttling to keep the sacred flame of the Corbynista cult burning, in the debris of their historic defeat. Except, perhaps, the mutant rebirth of Remainers as “the moderates”, rising like a molting, two-headed phoenix from the ashes. The attempt by Britain’s retrograde political forces to reinvent themselves as forward-looking is quite something to behold. Teflon Tony has become Bold 2in1 Blair – whitewashing the Remainer rout by warning Labour itself not to “whitewash” the election result. This is, of course, centrist politician code for the urgent need to stage a cover up.

Boris Johnson hopes to “hammer out a deal” with the EU by Oct 13, as the UK prepares to present formal proposals for the Irish border next week. On Friday the EU suggested its leaders would refuse to negotiate with the UK during the October European Council summit, dashing hopes of a last-minute breakthrough. A UK Government source told The Daily Telegraph on Friday: “After conference, you’ve got 10 days to hammer out a deal. The summit is the time to push the controversial bits and get the agreement.” The UK is expected to give its legally-workable proposals for a Brexit deal after the Conservative Party conference.

The clock is ticking, not just for Britain, but for Brussels.... When it comes to EU negotiations, it is becoming ever clearer that the political consequences of the Supreme Court's ruling on Boris Johnson’s prorogation of Parliament are not particularly significant. Yes, it means that MPs have only lost two weeks, instead of five, to try to influence Brexit. But, more importantly, Parliament can’t really agree on much. There is no support, at least not yet, for any of the alternatives: a Brexit deal, allowing “no deal”, revoking article 50, an early election or a second referendum.

As we reported two days ago, Joe Biden completely made no sense when he was trying to explain the Wuhan coronavirus relief bill. It was really bad and it explains why they’re afraid to have him deliver an address to Congress or do any kind of a real solo press conference, because at this point they have to be afraid this is all going to fall apart if he does anything live and this all becomes too obvious to the American people. But there’s only so long that they can hold this off. And it’s getting worse, as video today revealed. Biden was holding an event to announce the nomination

Nancy Pelosi’s top priority is to turn America into a one-party nation ruled by Democrats. Her bill HR 1 trashes the U.S. Constitution in an attempt to rig the system and make it virtually impossible to elect a Republican president or Congress again. It’s a power grab. The bill eviscerates state voting laws and forces all the states to conform to a set of rules that includes automatic voter registration. Anyone who goes to a DMV or applies for food stamps, Medicaid or other social services, or attends a public college will be automatically enrolled to vote. I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
