The head of Seattle's police union lamented the lack of "leadership" in the city Saturday after reports emerged that an early morning shooting in the so-called 'CHOP' left one person dead and another in critical condition.
According to The Seattle Times, police homicide and assault detectives are investigating the shooting, citing a post on the Seattle Police Department's blotter.
"On June 20th, at approximately 2:30 AM, East Precinct officers responded to a report of shots fired in Cal Anderson Park," a statement on the blotter said.
"This is inside the area referred to as the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP). Officers attempted to locate a shooting victim

Many people are calling for action from the President. I disagree. This is clearly a City and State matter. They need to clean up the mess. Feds can provide support when asked, but not a moment before. The liberals of Seattle own this one, lock, stock, and barrel! (Oops they are anti gun..sorry if I triggered you!)

How in the hell can this not be called what it is, outright revolution? Anything that prevents law enforcement or public safety personnel from doing their jobs is tantamount to rebellion. Public safety is what matters, not little pipsqueak commies. How many dead must there be before they call in the National Guard to break up this tantrum?

CHOP claims sovereignty over those few blocks, anyone that is in there is taking their chances. Maybe lives are worthless there.

Today I read that CHAZ CHOPS OR whatever, has reached their goal of being a communist nation. So, they need to have their police force and medical staff take care of the problem. Its not our problem any more. And Frankly, Seattle, I don't give a damn.
P.S. The wonderful nation of CHAZ CHOP OR WHATEVER, is asking for donations to keep their little hamlet afloat. Be sure to give till it hurts. The joint needs money. not getting a dime of mine

I hate to have to be someone who points out the obvious to you, Chief, but a person whose job title is Police CHIEF, is supposed to be a leader.
And "chief", your job title is an insult to the leaders of Native Americans communities in Washington and through out this land. Abolish it or forever be remembered as a RACIST.

No, you are wrong, #9. It is the MAYOR. The chief works for the mayor, has to do what the mayor says.
This is 100% a "mayor's pet project". She has been assisting them and shielding them from the police.
This is the mayor's doing. And it is the Democrat mayor's responsibility, completely.
Just let people learn what Democrat mayors "stand for".....and put up with. They stand for hate, violence, and destruction of property. I hope the mayor us up for re-election this November.

No mention of the race of the shooter or the victims so the circumstances obviously are not favorable enough to become public knowledge. The police have now backed down from the most serious of crimes so I take this as moral authority to do my own police work from now on. There will be no foolish rules of engagement. Threaten me or my family and die.

The Mayor should be called upon to put her money where her mouth is. If CHOP is such a wonderful community she should have no problem living among the CHOPers for a week or two. I'm sure she can find someone to help her pitch a tent. Just make sure to bring plenty of money and every device she owns (just in case she needs them for "forced donations" after she moves in). That's how theft is described in CHOPLand. People who have "donated" are told they should be thankful that they had something to give to the community.

#9/#11 Either way this is the UNION chief. No power.
#11 is right this is right in the lap of the mayor. As the Police Chief alluded to days ago, it wasn't her (the chief) call. Only one other in the chain of command. Madam Mayor, clean up your mess or call the Gov for help. Not the Feds problem.

#11 is absolutely correct. The mayor is the chief executive of the city and the police chief reports directly to her. This whole thing gets put right at her feet; she and she alone owns it. Since she won't do anything about it, it then goes to the governor, who also won't do anything about it. It's hard to believe they are letting this happen.
The sensible people of Seattle (if there are any left) should already be circulating a recall petition to remove this mayor from office for dereliction of duty. Her number 1 priority is to protect and keep safe the citizenry of the city. Everything else comes after that.
"Summer of love" indeed. What an absolutely worthless mayor...…….a complete and total moron.

I am confused. Why is this a State and not a Federal matter? This is an armed insurrection against the USA no albeit on a lesser scale than the South seceding from the Union. They have arms, they are supposedly creating their own currency, they have set up borders and checkpoints and worst of all they are holding the Americans who live in those blocks hostage.

To everyone saying the mayor should be voted out or forced to resign, it will never happen because you have no idea how brain dead Seattleites are. We live about two miles out of the city limit but both of us grew up in Seattle. My husband's family are all total liberals. Several years ago, at a family get together everyone had a horror story about mail not coming or a package mutilated and all were in agreement the postal service was awful. The conversation then turned to government run health care, all I said was if you like the postal service you'll love government run healthcare. If looks could kill, I would not be here today.

Now the mayor's little pet project has, as we expected, turned violent.
Will the mayor decide to break up the "block party" or just let them all get killed?
Personally, I am beyond caring. It is far away, and it is run by Dems. Let people see what Dems do.
