Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Paul Howard Jr., held a press conference earlier this afternoon to announce eleven charges against police officer Garrett Wolfe for the shooting death of Rayshard Brooks. The shooting took place at a local Atlanta Wendy’s.
In what appears to be a decision heavily influenced by local politics, DA Howard is charging officer Garrett Wolfe with felony murder, an unlawful killing with malice, forethought and specific intent. It looks like Howard is purposefully making a mess.

FTA:
There is something rather unusual about the extent of the way DA Paul Howard framed the encounter between the police and Rayshard Brooks, because CCTV video and body-cam footage do not support the district attorney’s statements. Obviously in a courtroom the defense is going to replay the DA statements while they run simultaneous footage of Mr. Rayshard Brooks resisting arrest, fighting with police and ultimately taking one of the officers’ tasers to use as a weapon.
The disconnect between the video and the DA’s interpretation was stunning...

If a bad guy with a taser gets the drop on an armed cop, the cop is now in mortal danger.

Yes, OP and #1. Just saw the video on Tucker. The "you could say... jovial" Mr. Brooks took down physically, with his own strength, two officers and stole one of their weapons (a week ago the same DA called tasers "deadly weapons."
If rational people don't get over their fear (it is not irrational fear, though) and demand that the nihilistic barbarity stop. And one day those surviving elites will look at the wreckage strewn across the country and wonder who the hell did that?

Not guilty by reason of self defense. Murder means a premeditated killing. This DA is running a legal lunch mob. What going to happen when a jury finds him not guilty of murder? Let the riots begin. The whole dog and pony show this guy put in has totally polluted and poisoned the jury pool. It’s a legal circus at this point.

Several interesting videos: The video of today’s presser. Body cam video of officer with Brooks, conversation. Wendy’s surveillance video captures the whole scene at a busy drive-through. A fair amount of footage from the time the officers first arrived through the shooting. Also a civilian video of Brooks’s fighting the officers.

My husband and I served over 25 years each in Law Enforcement. It was the one job we banned our kids from taking on. The handwriting was on the wall years ago. I pity this officer and his family.
It's a disgrace.

Joseph Biden said that police should only be allowed to shoot suspects in the leg. If you watch the first video of the two officers trying to restrain a suspect who was most likely intoxicated by both alcohol and drugs, once the shooting started, how could those officers shoot that suspect in his leg. Biden and the leftist and liberal Democrats are so far out in left field they would capitulate immediately to the anarchists using the bogus excuse that black lives matter to them and so the country must be transformed.

40 seconds of a drunk wrestling with police and he's dead. He was unarmed. He just blew a .10+. He was passed out and snoring earlier. At worst he could have tased one of the two officers. Shoot him on the ground in the struggle and I might listen to a defense of his going for an officer's firearm. The police had his car and ID info. Capital punishment...he deserved that. If true he was shot twice in the back, the shooting officer indeed deserves to be charged. Let's hear his explanation of why it was necessary to apply deadly force under these circumstances. An immediate threat? Danger to the community? Wanton criminal on the loose? Running with his BAC and the cops would have found the guy on the sidewalk passed out again shortly thereafter. The 40 minutes of calm and civility leading up to this is going to make it tough on a jury to turn away - especially if shot in the back.

Another case of made up charges against a police officer that will not hold up in court. Keith Ellison already blew the case against the cop who killed George Floyd. He overcharged him to the point where he might very well walk. Deliberate. The cop in Atlanta has a very good case for self defense based on the video. Again overcharge him to the point that he’s acquitted and you have a whole new set of riots and looting by the liberals’ foot soldiers. Perfect storm.

They will need a change in venue, and I think a good defense team will get the officer acquitted. I pray that at it will happen, that way.

The DA is telling a different story than the one first reported. They cannot both be true. Are they setting up another round of riots if the officer is exonerated? Looks that way. Just in time for election day.

#7 Thank you for serving an un-thankful job. So many armchair experts today. How many have ever wrestled with a large drugged or drunk person who has no problem killing you?
No one should leave home for a real job willing to serve and protect the community, get spit on, cursed, stabbed, run over by cars, rocks thrown at you, or killed. Worse yet is nobody seems to have your back and the criminal is protected by free lawyers and liberals.
You know, after a few years, many of us would snap too.

For those who claim a taser is a non-lethal weapon: let's see you get tased while on a dead sprint across a concrete parking lot, arms unresponsive as you fall, and either smash your face into the concrete, breaking your nose, jaw, cheekbones, and teeth, or falling so as to crack open your skull.
