It sounds like there was plenty of tension at the Thursday night meeting of the Denver Public Schools Board of Education. A vote was held on a proposal to remove all SROs (school resource officers from the Denver Police Department) from all public schools in the district. After four hours of heated debate and public comment, the board voted unanimously to remove them. The number of SROs on campuses is to be reduced by 25% immediately with all remaining officers to be given the boot by June of next year. Going by the local CBS coverage of the meeting, the

There was another school shooting in the Denver metro area just a year ago - STEM school in Highlands Ranch, CO. It didn't get as much publicity because there was only one fatality - a brave student who jumped at the shooters distracting them enough for other classmates to jump them and subdue them. Removing police from schools guarantees that this will happen again.

What will they do when some student leaves a smoking backpack in the cafeteria? https://hotair.com/archives/john-s-2/2018/03/07/utah-high-school-student-attempted-detonate-bomb-fan-isis/ In this case the resource (police) officer assigned to the school grabbed the smoking backpack and ran it to his office at the other end of the school. The officer neither asked for, or received any recognition for putting his own life in danger. I only know the full story from talking to policemen and students. What will they do in Denver? The next time a Denver school system employee proclaims "The safety of our children is our highest priority!", someone please yell "LIAR!". Their PC actions prove that virtue-signalling and wokeness is their top priority. The safety of children is way down their list; behind money, peer-approval, and more. If you retain any doubts about how pervasive this sickness is, get Andrew Pollack's book: "Why Meadow Died". It'll leave your blood boiling to realize how that public school system repeatedly and callously failed to protect Meadow and her classmates, and how the same ingredients that led to that tragedy exist in most of our local systems. The offense is compounded by the "double-down" defense of those policies and conditions that is still ongoing. https://www.amazon.com/Why-Meadow-Died-Policies-Parkland/dp/1642932191/ref=sr_1_1?crid=LC2X5I1I7IO2&dchild=1&keywords=why+meadow+died+by+andrew+pollack&qid=1592308699&sprefix=why+meadow+die%2Caps%2C184&sr=8-1

I support this. Cops in schools...to what end? They prevent nothing, certainly not mass shootings, as was shown in FL and CO. Put it on the School Boards, those million-dollar Superintendents, their extensive staffs of administrators, social workers, principals and union-supported teachers to provide a meaningful education while supporting decorum by tossing the bums out.

The prospect of the first Black woman to appear on a presidential ticket looks more likely than ever before, with Joe Biden seriously considering Kamala Harris, Val Demings and Keisha Lance Bottoms to be his running mate. While the continued protests sparked by the death of George Floyd have amplified the pressure on Biden to choose a Black woman as his No. 2, several Black leaders are voicing a notable degree of support for Warren, strengthening her case

Against the historic backdrop of a booming civil rights movement, the city of Detroit on Monday kicked off its week-long Juneteenth celebration, which commemorates the ending of slavery in the U.S. It was June 19, 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, announcing the Civil War was over — and that slavery was abolished. To honor that day, the city of Detroit has a week-long schedule of virtual events planned, designed to educate, empower and drive change on issues that will positively impact Black communities. The celebration starts at 6 p.m. Monday and ends Friday with a Freedom Rally in

Three cities, all supremely liberal, represent an American descent into anarchy against which no one is standing. After New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said he wanted to slash the police budget, the New York City Council is going about cutting $1 billion from that budget, about 16%. That will inevitably cause a reduction of police presence around the city and, with equal inevitability, result in an increase in crime. In Minneapolis, where George Floyd was killed in police custody on May 25, the city council plans to disband its police force entirely. On Friday, the city council voted to replace the police with a “community-led public safety system.”
