A vote was held on a proposal to remove all SROs (school resource officers from the Denver Police Department) from all public schools in the district. After four hours of heated debate and public comment, the board voted unanimously to remove them. The number of SROs on campuses is to be reduced by 25% immediately with all remaining officers to be given the boot by June of next year. Going by the local CBS coverage of the meeting, the

Now school shooters know that Denver schools are gun free and police free zones. Guess what will happen. Any ideas?

I have worked in education for 30 years. Our resource officers are the best. I am glad they are in the building and visible. This move by this school board is plain f - ing stupid and irresponsible. Parents, get your kids out of these schools.

I am a retiree who lives in the multi-county metro area. I try not to spend a dollar in the City and County, and I'm closely observing what the state will do to make a retiree move out.
Thank you, California.

There was another school shooting in the Denver metro area just a year ago - STEM school in Highlands Ranch, CO. It didn't get as much publicity because there was only one fatality - a brave student who jumped at the shooters distracting them enough for other classmates to jump them and subdue them. Removing police from schools guarantees that this will happen again.

No cure for stupid....and they tell us how much they care about the kids. Yeah, right! And then they kill babies yet unborn. These people only care about themselves!

Why? How many troubled kids might have been able to connect with a LEO during school hours? Hope the teachers think this is just hunky-dory. Parents too.

High altitudes restrict oxygen to the brain, affecting cognition and memory. Save your kids. Get them out of government schools.

It makes you wonder if the people on that BOE are just that stupid, naturally, or do they have to work at it?

What will they do when some student leaves a smoking backpack in the cafeteria?
https://hotair.com/archives/john-s-2/2018/03/07/utah-high-school-student-attempted-detonate-bomb-fan-isis/
In this case the resource (police) officer assigned to the school grabbed the smoking backpack and ran it to his office at the other end of the school. The officer neither asked for, or received any recognition for putting his own life in danger. I only know the full story from talking to policemen and students. What will they do in Denver? Who will fill the shoes of the policeman?

That'll come back to bite them in the arse once another demonrat nut case shoots up another school. I await the multitude of law suits against the Board of Education when this happens.

The next time a Denver school system employee proclaims "The safety of our children is our highest priority!", someone please yell "LIAR!". Their PC actions prove that virtue-signalling and wokeness is their top priority. The safety of children is way down their list; behind money, peer-approval, and more.
If you retain any doubts about how pervasive this sickness is, get Andrew Pollack's book: "Why Meadow Died". It'll leave your blood boiling to realize how that public school system repeatedly and callously failed to protect Meadow and her classmates, and how the same ingredients that led to that tragedy exist in most of our local systems. The offense is compounded by the "double-down" defense of those policies and conditions that is still ongoing.

Wonder how the parents and TEACHERS feel about this? I know many teachers who feel much safer going to work because they have (police) resource officers at their school.

I support this. Cops in schools...to what end? They prevent nothing, certainly not mass shootings, as was shown in FL and CO. Put it on the School Boards, those million-dollar Superintendents, their extensive staffs of administrators, social workers, principals and union-supported teachers to provide a meaningful education while supporting decorum by tossing the bums out.
