President Trump will push back his planned rally for next week by one day to avoid overlapping with Juneteenth, he said Friday, citing widespread criticism that the campaign event would fall on the same day that commemorates the end of slavery.(Snip)"Many of my African American friends and supporters have reached out to suggest that we consider changing the date out of respect for this Holiday, and in observance of this important occasion and all that it represents," he continued. "I have therefore decided to move our rally to Saturday, June 20th, in order to honor their requests."

I'll be honest. I consider myself a fairly well read and up to date person and I didn't know this holiday or observance was even a thing until this overblown bruhaha. I'm not really surprised others were equally uninformed.

Sigh. What has a good ol' Texas excuse for a multi-racial partaaaay got to do with presidential election politics? And who knew it was a holiday?

Bottom line on this change of date, President Trump has outfoxed the Democrats again, and by changing the rally date is going away swinging in that he is showing that he respects African-Americans and their holiday commemorating when African-Americans in Texas were told that they had been freed from Democrat supported slavery by a Republican President named Abraham Lincoln.
The Democrat complaints against the very effective Trump rallies are bogus, as by now the American people who make the country go, have figured out that the Democrats would be the first to complain if Trump held a rally on the Moon.

It seems Texas was the first state to make Juneteenth a holiday in 1979. Now 47 states recognize the holiday Honestly, I thought it had to do with Jump the Broom to get married but that's in the islands and Americans don't want to get married and ruin a good thing.Name a day in this country that isn't a holiday for somebody.

#3- Precisely. As an aside, isn’t it interesting how the mainstream media has begun saturating the news about the dangers of a coronavirus resurgence just as President Trump’s rallies are being scheduled and the market teases signs of a recovery.

Good grief at this point what difference does it make? Trumps going to win in a massive landslide so he can rally anytime any place he wants.

Heard today on the local news (Oklahoma City) that there is suddenly a new wave of corona viruses in Tulsa and they might have to quarantine again. Yeah, right. No surprise there.

The second wave is here. Not Covid itself, but the Covid propaganda.

But the President should make a point on Juneteenth that it is a day a Republican presidents proclamation was presented that freed the slaves. He should do it the day of, and at the rally.

Joonteeth is NOT the day that Texas blacks heard about their freedom.
It's the day that ten thousand Navy troops landed in Galveston to enforce Mr.Lincoln's proclamation.
Big difference.

At this point, soon the Blacks will have more "Holy Days" (Holidays) than the Catholic Calender.

I knew that date was going to be a problem. Most black people didn't grow up with Juneteenth and don't know what the heck it is? I didn't even know it was considered a holiday anywhere, just a celebration. Since everyone's suddenly bending over backwards to "fight racism," I'll make sure and mention that my employer should give us the day off going forward. I work freakin' hard; I can use every holiday, so I don't have to take vacation, I can get.
