The victim of a fatal police shooting in Atlanta had moments earlier fired a Taser at one of the cops chasing him, newly released surveillance footage showed Saturday — as the city’s chief of police resigned less than a day after the incident.
Early reports of the altercation that killed Rayshard Brooks, 27, Friday night had indicated Brooks, who was black, was unarmed.
But the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which is probing the troubling shooting, released surveillance video Saturday that, officials said, prove otherwise.

Gee, what a surprise - struggled with the police, grabbed a taser off of one, and shot it at him. If he'd just done what they told him, he'd still be alive.

Why is the obvious never mentioned in the media:
Be respectful when stopped by the police and follow their directions.

Lawyers for the dead man's family got caught on live TV trying to have it both ways.
He claimed ''all the police had to do was talk with the man and they could have defused the situation.
Then he admitted the police were having a conversation with the man before he turned violent.
So, which is it?

The man could have tazed the police officer and taken his gun. What is the officer supposed to do?

In these circumstances why would the police chief resign? Unless he is one of those "kneelers"?

Blacks don't think the law applies to them, and demand that they be allowed free rein. I don't believe my white privilege allows me that!

Indeed #5. A significant percentage of cops killed on the job are killed with their own guns.

That big mouth Stacy Abrams disapproves of how the cops handled this. I’d love for her and everyone else criticizing the cops try to do a cop’s job for even one hour. They make me sick.

as I understand it, police procedure is to check a person's record/outstanding warrants as soon as they have ID information.
the dead man's record is going to reveal some violent stuff, I suspect. His attorneys seemed to know him pretty well.

so we finally realize we are about to be arrested and go nutzo on the cops and run.
How long until we find out what warrants were out on him or that he was violating parole and going to be shipped back to jail?

#9 they cannot find a tent that looks enough like a police uniform for Stacey to wear

For the Atlanta Police Chief, a White woman, to resign like that indicates that she had a major disagreement with the Mayor of Atlanta, a Black woman, who wanted to immediately fire the two police officers before any sort of internal investigation was completed, to determine if the police officers were in the right or were wrong in shooting the Black man who was noncompliant, and fought with them in an effort to resist arrest for driving under the influence, stole one of the officer’s taser gun, ran off, and then turned, aimed, and fired the taser at the officers, with the officers then shooting and killing the Black man. Remember the Mayor said to be on Biden’s short list to be his Vice-Presidential partner and that fact may have played into the Mayor’s decision to immediately fire the officers in an effort to quell the urban Black unrest and rioting that is almost sure to happen and quickly get out of control, a circumstance that could keep Biden’s handlers from putting her on Biden’s presidential ticket.

Taken a step further, what would the perp do WITH the Taser? Tase the cop and take his gun and kill the cop? This whole scenario is crazy, not only was he drunk he was crazy.
I'll bet a bag of donuts his autopsy will show he was on a host of drugs...

Looks like the cookies are crumbling. Police Officers with retirement or without will jump ship when the going gets tough because of poor leadership and bad politicians in control. The good ones (trained by their present employer at great expense) will be picked up by other cities and counties. Who could disagree with them. They have families. Why put up with the out of controlled, lawless and so called peaceful protests. This could happen at any moment in any city. All of them are in trouble. Myself, I will not travel into any large city now. This will go on till the election and probably on into the future. Either it burns itself out or it will eventually take down the country a peg or two. History is a harsh teacher for ignorance.

Atlanta mayor = Keisha Bottomes LIBERAL. Once again, unrest in a LIBERAL city.
People in Atlanta need to stand up and defend the police. They did what was necessary.

Look people don’t take this the wrong but with the riots that have been taken place I would have just left him go. He would have showed up somewhere in the near future and then take him down. You don’t get mad and lose your cool, you get even. This gives them a reason to burn more buildings.

I'm betting the black mayor told the white police chief to resign, or be fired.
