Amazon is reportedly considering removing the immensely popular 1970s series “The Dukes of Hazzard” from its streaming library as it reviews its content offerings in the wake of racial tensions and protests happening throughout the US. The TV series ran on CBS for seven seasons from 1979 until 1985. It follows the adventures of Bo and Luke Duke, who create mischief in their fictional small town of Hazzard County, Ga. The show has been criticized over the years, specifically for the boys’ well-known car, The General Lee, which is emblazoned with a confederate flag on the roof.(Snip) In 2015, TV Land pulled

As I recall it was the the battle flag of the Army of Virginia, a state flag!

Dear Amazon,
Will this fix racial tensions? No! Then why are you doing it? Is somebody threatening to boycott you? Tell them GTH. This fixes nothing.

I am so tired of cow towing to the woke .
I have a big mouth so I inadvertently say the wrong thing. There are a lot of seemingly nice hard working people who have moved here who aren’t of the same political side as I am on and I ain’t shy about my beliefs so when I mention anything negative about oh say our democratic governor, they react as if they had stepped on a snake, they have the same reaction if I happen to mention God. It would be so nice to have a conversation without self-censorship. I am sick and tired of trying to be politically correct all the time. Just this week we are told to call a rioter a protester.
There has been a number of times I have met someone here that I really liked only to be ghosted by(shunned) when they realized I believed in God.
I guess the secret is to praise President Trump and say a prayer the moment I am introduced to someone. That way I will know right away if someone hates me.

On the other hand, consider the anguished cries of pain when a Peaceful Protestor flips on a liberated big-screen TV looted from Walmart and sees that racist car!

The Kennedy Center awards the Mark Twain Prize for American humor. Will that be done away with because , well, you know, Mark Twain wrote Huckleberry Finn, a racist book. Will the prizes have to given back? Richard Pryor was the first recipient.

You can buy at least 10 of Robert C. Byrd's books on Amazon. Wasn't he a Grand Klegal of the KKK?

It may also be because Boss Hogg and the Sheriff are such obvious Democrat politician-types, too.

This story made me laugh out loud, I'm from Mississippi, my whole state will be renamed. The capitol will be bulldozed, our flag will be outlawed and on and on. It's getting to the point now of being laughable. I'm afraid it's going to get really ugly before it gets better. Obama and his crowd started all this. But President Trump will have to end it. I wake up everyday now and ask myself "where the hell am I"

Call me old fashioned, but this is one of the reasons I'm reluctant to stream anything and much prefer dvds for movies and shows I really like. Old shows can get pricey though. One tv series from the eighties is running upwards of $100, and some are not even available on Dish or Netflix, etc.

Nod to 10, Uncle Jesse Duke of Hazzard and his extended Duke family battle corrupt elected and unelected officials who are in league with outright criminals. Draining the swamp. Making Hazzard Great Again. But it's tough going.

#4 - Same experiences here. I'm also not shy about expressing my opinion in public, usually through jokes and asides to TK in the market line. China virus put a stop to that ritual. I've been ghosted. It reminds me of being shunned by the mean girls in grade school. I've been to that boot camp and it doesn't bother me. I have already implemented your solution; when meeting a new person I always talk about my faith and that my social life is centered in my parish life. That separates the wheat from the chaff real fast.
My Dad was jocular, friendly and very outgoing. He was not afraid to state his opinion on any topic and gladly listened to the other side. He taught me that was public life in a free country. In his retirement he listened to Dennis Prager and started warning me in the 80's that our country was heading in the wrong direction. I was raised to be a free citizen and I will continue to behave as such. Giving some snowflake heartburn is certain to melt them away.

So “Daisy Duke” short-shorts must be banned as well. See how that goes over with the millennials.

Prime has become worthless. Last couple of things I ordered from Amazon (Prime) took about two weeks to arrive. They blame Covid.
Lately, I use Amazon for product research, but the pricing is so high I usually find it at an independent site (if I cannot buy it locally from Walmart or HomeDepot). Doubt I will re-up the Prime when it expires.

Anyone can start a "Confederate Heritage" cable network or stream site. Seems there would be no shortage of viewers. Could run "Birth of a Nation" like TBS did "Gone with the Wind." C'mon fat cats...get it together

Anyone who watched any of that show knows already that it makes fun out of stereotyping southern racists as complete idiots and losers. It teaches against racism in a humorous way.

No, Byrd was not a Grand Klegal in the KKK.
He was only an Exalted Cyclops in the KKK.

I do less and less business with Amazon as time goes by. Meanwhile, no one, but no one, gave that flag a second thought years ago when the show ran in prime time.
