Recently launched streaming service HBO Max on Tuesday confirmed it removed the 1939 epic "Gone With the Wind" over racist depictions but said the movie will return later with more context.
The original film will be brought back "with a discussion of its historical context and a denouncement of those very depictions," a spokesperson for the service said in a statement.
The move comes amid furious calls against racism and for police reform after the death of George Floyd, a black man who died May 25 after a white Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for more than eight

Just ordered a hard copy of GWTW before the liberal racists decide to rewrite it.

I was musing on that last night, #4. Orwell really understood the media's control over information. Along with their ability to manufacture and discard it.

It's because of things like this that I have a large DVD collection. Next step will be to ban Blazing Saddles, all the blaxploitation movies like Shaft and toss in Dave Chapelle too. Then comes Quentin Tarantino and who knows who else? Madness.

Tucked away on my home media server, with redundant backup disc drives, is a copy of Disney's Song of the South. Usenet is your friend.

Yikes! Is nothing sacred? The first Novel I ever read was Gone With The Wind. I was 14 and read it during the Summer. I was hooked on Reading forevermore! I've seen the movie multiple times. I actually took my 58 year old daughter to see the movie last year when a Movie Theater in my area had a special showing. She had never seen it. It was 4 hours long and nobody complained. Shame on HBO for removing this part of the South's History!

We have had it up to here with statements on race. I wonder how much these feel gooders would be shocked to find out that the obvious propaganda produces the opposite effect. Aside from the mentally disturbed white guilt holders, blacks have lost a lot of ground in the past few weeks, which will take them decades to recover.

The leftist Marxists in America want to be the ones to describe conditions under slavery, not some movie made in Hollywood.
We are witnessing the dog (USA) being wagged by the flea (black radicals) on its tail.

#12 is correct. They are losing the decent whites who would normally empathize with poor blacks and pushing others into genuine racism. I used to be more or less neutral about race. I realize there are real problems in the black community but violence and destroying the police force and burning down their neighborhoods are creating more real racists every day.

600,000+ dead. Whole cities burned. Livelihoods of an entire region destroyed. Poor people of all colors suffering in the aftermath. Followed by a century and a half of humiliation and invasion of people who “know better.” Over the years, many good Americans have shrugged over the destruction of southern culture from elsewhere. Well, now they know how it feels.
I have loved traveling and soaking in the different cultures within America. While strolling the streets of some great northern city or sitting on the beach in California, I have never once thought, “I want to move here and change all of this.” I take no pleasure in beautiful places like NYC, Seattle, and San Francisco being destroyed.
Margaret Mitchell’s Scarlett is one of the greatest characters of all time because she realized her errors, paid for them, and then shrewdly survived. She remained beautiful, hopeful, and retained some manners and the whole time too. It’s the story of the South and it’s a tragedy that so many are too stupid to understand it.

I did the same as #11, reading the book in only three days. I couldn’t put it down. My Mother had a copy from the 1939 first release. She thought it was a marvelous book. Me, too.

Animal Planet is owned by Discovery.
They own the various Discovery channels, Science Channel,TLC, Food Network, HGTV, and Travel Channel.
They're all going to have the same propaganda.

Grandson, now 21, visited me for a week back when he was only a 2nd grader. I gave him my box of CD movies and a machine to play them on when it was too hot to play outside. Imagine my surprise when after he viewed ''Song of the South'' and declared, ''Gramaw, this movie is racist!'' (I didn't want to admit that I had to purchase the classic film from overseas.) I now am awaiting my e-Bay wind fall profit.
