New York City—Mayor Bill de Blasio pledged Sunday to shift funding from the NYPD to support youth and social services instead. The mayor said the details would be worked out through the city budget process over the next three weeks. "We are committed to shifting resources," de Blasio said. “The investments in our youth are foundational." The mayor added that the defunding of the NYPD will be done in a way that does not compromise the safety of New Yorkers. Defunding the NYPD and redirecting those resources to youth and community programs has been one of the demands of protesters.

You know they're already figuring out ways to STEAL the money. Democrats propose new programs and services, then they get indicted for embezzlement. I wish all these protestors could only see how they're ALL being played for fools.

Have you seen the picture "when police departments are defunded: Dispatcher sitting at her desk answers the phone..Caller: Help, Someone is breaking into my house. Dispatch answers "Stay calm sir, We are sending you our thoughts and prayers right now."
Might be more thuth to this then not.

Maybe BLM can respond to all the robberies, domestics and endless car wrecks. I'm sure the New Yorkers will be thrilled with their services.

One of the demands of the protesters, is to redirect resources away from the NYPD. One of demands of normal NY's is for you to resign.
When are you up for election again? Next year? Good luck in your new career.

One time great city. Now? Escape from NY while you can. Wilhelm’s next move will be putting up a border wall to keep the remaining tax paying citizens from leaving a la Berlin Wall. Don’t be surprised if he tries it as the city spirals into chaos.

Going to recommend that my offspring tell their boss that they will not return to work in NYC until this nut Deblasio is gone. Unsafe working conditions.

Play basketball while your city burns. Pay no attention to those cries of help from the racist white woman getting beaten, raped, and robbed. In fact you might stroll over after the gang leaves and see if they left anything of value on the body.

New York City, soon to become the San Francisco of the east. So sad to hear of its demise. I wonder if native New Yorkers have as much civic pride and state love as I do for my dear Tennessee. We just don't hear much about it. My late sister felt the same way about her beloved San Francisco, California, her adopted state. We'd crawl over glass to get ''home.''

Go to school and actually ingage in your own education, DO NOT hang with people who carry guns, do drugs, steal and drink too much. DO NOT have children until you are married. Get a job (sorry you f - ed up all the local jobs), any job, and continue to improve your skills so you can get a better job. Think about furthering your education. Your life will be better immediately. Not perfect, maybe not exactly what you want, but it can improve. You can live a positive life if you want. You have to meet life half way. Dear Lord this is insane. No one will ever make a point of going to NYC again. I suggest that all those in NY government immediately let their security staff go. You know, a show of good faith in this dumb ass belief that everything is going to be hearts and flowers.

How is de Blasio going to enforce his edicts, lockdown businesses, close churches, force people to wear masks---without the police? How is Antifa, the muslims, all the socialists, all that group going to enforce their edicts without the police?

It you live in NYC and dial 911 when two guys with a shot gun and an AK are breaking in just remember to look happy when the social worker shows up next Thursday. You wouldn't want to look like you're part of the problem.

This is Karma for calling the shots on every election since Rocky and Nelson was so Uniparty he'd be a rat today if he could. So enjoy what DeBlasio and cuomo have in store for you NYC voters. You and all the other morons in NY who couldn't be bothered to vote against every rat at every level, are the only reason people like this can ruin the state. I'm guessing all the smug snots who spit on anyone with a Red hat are dimly starting to miss the Rudy years a little more each day.

The NYPD needs to walk away from NYC. Do it now. Do NOT protect DeBlasio or his family. Move to a RedState where the PD are respected.

Dan Bongino did an excellent rant on this today on Fox & Friends (he said he said it on Hannity last week too) about how the left will send a social worker to your home when the spousal abuse is occurring. He said what good is a social worker going to do you when you are dead? You can't negotiate with criminals - especially when they know even if arrested - there is no bail - so they can just continue the crime spree until.....

You wanna cut the budget? Instead of sending the SUV to pick him up and drive him around send a precinct car with a cage separating the front seat from back seat. Have the 2 officers sit in front and make him sit in the back.

Excellent suggestion, #17. She's obviously been calling the shots for her side so far so why not let her finish the transition. Moving out of NYC is the best option for most people. You get out from under those taxes and the bonus is you keep your life.

I guess I’m confused about what “defunding” means. At first glance, you’d think it means “no funding.” Yet, that can’t be what they have in mind. Could someone help me out?

The people being played are all the whites who are falling for this guilt trip being laid on them. The fault lies not in the stars but in ourselves. That’s what you tell these protesters who feel screwed.

If Mayor Putz follows through on this, I would think twice before going into the city for either Broadway, Lincoln Center, museums or any other attraction whatsoever. There’s a reason that De Blasio is called Mayor Putz.

Isn't anyone in the pitiful city of New York going to stand up for its police officers? They lay their live on the line every single day and this his how your imbecile, pandering, socialist mayor shows his gratitude? Defund DeBlasio and kick him the hell out of office!

Where are all of the people lined up in cars calling for his recall ? Whenever I see Mayor Putz, I think of that tiny older woman who got in his face one day on the street. Where is she ?
We are being played people. You know who will do anything to stop the election.

Democrats are very poor historians, or they refuse to learn from history, since that's been tried before and it's how Rudy G. was elected over and over and he cleaned up that town with strong policing, not succumbing to the criminal element.

De Blasio and other mayors and government managers are planning for a national police force. That way they will not have to support the police organizations and get rid of police unions. A national police force is one measure to change the nation into a socialist system. The second most important step is to create a single-payer healthcare system. With control of law enforcement and healthcare you can easily control the population.
