Members of the National Guard on Friday were looking for a new place to stay, after D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered that they leave the hotel they were staying at, according to an official. The city had taken over the Marriott Marquis in downtown Washington, D.C. to use for the National Guard’s coronavirus response mission, but many rooms remained vacant, so National Guard members deploying to D.C. as part of the civil unrest mission began staying there.
Bowser did not like the idea that Guardsmen from out of state were staying at the hotel, so she ordered the more than 1,000 members to leave.National Guard members who worked the night shift

Since when can a mayor order anyone to leave a hotel? Liberal fascism is out of control. Why didn't the National Guard simply arrest her?

OK, the mayor is a jerk. They should have been quartered at Ft. Myer or Ft. Belvoir in the first place. Both are secure and are close to the action. If room was at a premium, start pitching those tents. Why is everything DoD touches entail a luxury tab? The Marriott Marquis. Are you kidding?

There is no excuse for this. The 'good' mayor could have been diplomatic about this, and asked the National Guard to find other quarters rather than kicking them out. Apparently Bowser would rather have the rioters ruling the streets, and placing our President in danger.

#2, the hotel had already been taken over by the City. Gvt rates are abysmally low. Because the City took it over, that is why she felt she had the power to kick them out. I have been involved in these types of 'contests' before. It's usually ego. In this case I believe the mayor is demonstrating which side she has chosen in this new revolution.

The Mayor is telling the President that since the protestors have been “peaceful” that all the extra federal law enforcement related personnel must leave the Washington, DC vicinity.
This weekend there is a huge protest involving reportedly up to a million people scheduled to take place in Washington, DC., and there is no guarantee that there will not be a big violent element, rioting and looting, involved with that protest, crimes that could cause serious damage to historic federal property, including the White House.
What is that Mayor thinking?

Anyone that has ever visited Washington DC knows that you cannot venture into the neighborhoods that surround the Capital Mall area. Let's just say it gets a little dicey.

#3- How about more criticism and potential congressional investigation into President Trump’s wrongdoing IF he offered the National Guard members rooms in one of his properties?
#9- “What is the Mayor thinking?” Hopefully, NOT fulfilling a liberal agenda. An agenda that might include rioting and looting and crimes that cause serious damage to the White House and possibly a specific individual therein.

Just bring in tents and set up on the Mall.
They can harden there place there.
I would not want to be put in a hotel, not easily defended.

#6, I get that, but getting a great deal on rates is not the point. Perceptions count as does defensibility and security. The Marine barracks in Beirut is a great example of this flawed thinking as was the Khobar Towers in the 90s. The military can negotiate great rates for air travel, too. But that doesn't mean DoD should go hog wild on TDY/TAD boondoggles.
