After two straight nights of looting in Chicago, the scene almost seemed normal.A man waited across the street as officers sped down Division Street and scattered looters from a Target store that had its glass doors shattered. After the last unmarked police SUV drove away around midnight Sunday, the man walked into the Wicker Park Target and spent several minutes inside. He came out with just one box of beer and passed it around to a handful of others standing outside. With downtown Chicago cordoned off by the National Guard, violence spread into the neighborhoods Sunday night and early Monday as clashes with police continued

FTA: ~~"It capped a weekend that was one of the most violent in recent years in Chicago, with more than 80 people shot, nearly 20 of them killed. Police Superintendent David Brown said there were 699 looting arrests, mostly on the South and West sides. At least 132 officers were injured Sunday and there were 48 shootings, with 17 deaths, he said. Chicago officials said they received 65,000 calls in a 24-hour period, 50,000 more than typical day."~~ Quite a night!

Anecdotal, but vanloads of protestors were dropped off by Lincoln Park, and pallets of riot supplies---whatever they are--had been pre-staged in the area.

They have been looting in my former neighborhood, just NW of downtown for 24 hours straight. The police are totally overwhelmed. There are rumors of mass arson tonight, the mayor is more concerned in tracking down who is spreading the online rumors that stopping it. About a half hour ago, my former neighbor found a gas can hidden in her bushes. I'm so relieved that I moved to rural America.

#4 is correct. They were waiting for a trigger....first white cop to kill a black perp. Wouldn’t have mattered whether the cop was right or not. It will also happen again. As many criminal black people who constantly are involved with cops arresting them, it’s inevitable. Soros or someone with money and power are financing this insurrection.

No Worries, at least that appears to be the historic attitude of the weekend murder rate in Chicago. Using the website HeyJackass!, in 2019 the average weekend murder rate was just under 20 per weekend. No telling what the number of murders would have to be to make them stand up and notice. But, as long as it is blacks killing blacks, No Worries.

I don't quite understand this. A white officer kills a black man, officer is fired and arrested for murder. Country goes nuts with riots. Chicago has mass shootings every weekend, crickets from everywhere. Why is this, please someone tell me.

Sometimes retired generals are deified. Ulysses S. Grant and Dwight D. Eisenhower won two presidential terms in landslide elections. At other moments, war heroes such Generals Douglas MacArthur and Curtis LeMay were vilified as near insurrectionaries for their blistering attacks on sitting presidents. In such a climate, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which became effective law in May 1951, prohibits active generals from disparaging their commander in chief — in the way perhaps MacArthur had bitterly pilloried then-president Harry Truman over the Korean War. Article 88 of the UCMJ makes it a crime to voice “contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense,

In an attempt to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, at least 124,000 schools have closed for over 55 million children in the U.S. At the same time, opponents of homeschooling launched several unfounded attacks on the practice. Then came the death by asphyxiation of George Floyd under the knee of a Minneapolis policeman.

Many Americans understand that the riots aren’t righteous protests but are, instead, leftist activism aimed at destabilizing America and (the activists hope) destroying Trump’s chance at reelection. Still, people found shocking a video showing police in Buffalo pushing an old man to the ground where he lay with blood pouring from his ear. Don’t believe everything you see, though. The old man was a leftist activist looking for trouble and may have staged the whole thing. If one views the video in a vacuum, it’s awful.
