When the Justice Department filed a motion to dismiss the charges against Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, it didn’t expect much pushback. Instead, the judge in the case declined the dismissal, opened up a separate investigation into Flynn and hired a high-profile defense attorney for himself.
The district court judge, Emmett Sullivan, has hired attorney Beth Wilkinson to represent him as the Flynn case moves forward, a highly unusual decision for a judge. Wilkinson is known for representing people in high-profile cases; She is the same attorney who represented Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his nomination process.

That a tepid article.
Gen Flynn is innocent. There never was and still is not any evidence against him. In fact, all evidence shows Flynn was doing his job with all due caution and respect to the BO's administration. This evidence was available from the beginning. Instead of treating Flynn like a respected member of a president's administration, The FBI treated Flynn, without any cause, like a mafia boss and PLOTTED ways to entrap him in criminal activity; an entrapment he did NOT fall for.
Failing at entrapment and about to walk away from the effort, the top FBI administration decided to move against Flynn anyway. The FBI faked evidence and hid the mounds of exculpatory evidence it had. It bullied and threatened Flynn and his family. It threatened, bullied, and corrupted Flynn's lawyers and made them give bad and biased advice. In desperation and with the advice of his compromised lawyers, Flynn pleaded guilty.
Now, with a new lawyer and access to all the evidence, which is ALL exculpatory, Flynn is fighting back. An honest DoJ has reexamined Flynn's case and admitted there was no evidence, no crime, and that Flynn should never have been investigated, let alone charged.
Our courts are supposed to seek justice. Assumption of the accused is the REQUIRED default posture. WHERE is there justice in what happened to Gen Flynn? The DoJ has started to rectify the criminal mistakes made against Flynn. If Sullivan were seeking JUSTICE, the correct and easy answer would be to dismiss the charges as requested by DoJ, as required by law. The Left is always yammering about injustice. Well, HERE IT IS! It doesn't matter because the victim is a Republican? Further, this is NOT a marginal case where the truth is not obvious. There was NOTHING done wrong. There is NO other party that might have been harmed. At this point, Sullivan should be a bit player instead of dragging this out to no purpose. The higher court should move expeditiously to dismiss the charges.
This was a conspiratorial plot to frame and innocent man. JUSTICE is screaming to be done.

The only justice that I see now is to remove this Judge from his responsibilities immediately. He has proven that he can no longer be a non bias keeper of the court. He either retires or he should be impeached. Either way, he MUST go.
I hope he has a big bank account, this attorney is going to cost him big time. Maybe he can file for bankruptcy after this stunt.

Even Flynn has not claimed innocence in this case, #1. Neither has his legal team.
The article misses a major point: While DOJ May argue there is grounds for dismissal because the FBI never had enough basis to bring Flynn in for the interview which led to his being charged with lying to the FBI. DOJ also says the reason it is asking for the dismissal is that it has insufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Therefore DOJ says the crime occurred, and Flynn still pleaded guilty.

Is it accepted practice for the FBI to coerce and threaten Flynn to plead guilty or they will go after his son? Who pays for Sullivan's hiring of a high priced personal lawyer? Are the lefty lawyers jumping in to help Sullivan to be seen that they approve of the coup attempt against Trump? If the predicate for the investigation and charging of Flynn was faulty in the first place, shouldn't the whole thing be thrown out?

Whatever Poster #4 is, he is no conservative, and certainly no lawyer----at least, not a lawyer I would practice with (retired, former DC and NYC bar). Flynn was entrapped and coerced by the FBI, which admitted it had no case. To the extent that Flynn is guilty, it is a so-called process crime, which is of dubious legality in this case, as Flynn did not intend to lie.

Judge Sullivan should be Impeached. No doubt about it. If he can try to put his personal feelings into this case, he can do it to many cases (and probably already has done exactly that)!

With each day that passes I find myself despising much more the political left. They lie and withhold evidence to railroad a U.S. Army flag rank officer going so far as to threatening his family if he doesn't plead guilty. After all this malicious prosecution these leftist scum judge and amicus-briefers want there to be NO remediation for the General and for his plea entered under duress to be held. This coming from the same left that files appeal after appeal for a death row inmate long overdue for multiple murders of most heinous nature.
Evil, thy name is the left.

Well, #6, you say “ To the extent that Flynn is guilty, it is a so-called process crime, which is of dubious legality in this case, as Flynn did not intend to lie.”
What did he plead guilty to? Dubious left the argument when Flynn maintained his guilt under oath for two years, framed, entrapped or otherwise. And, as an attorney certainly you know well what this legal dance is all about.
As for the rest, whatever. As a client I would not hire you as my attorney. As a conservative I believe in principles that include you don’t lie under oath. Attorneys make think otherwise.

Gen Flynn fell on his sword to save his son. His old lawyers did not do their due diligence in getting the documents that existed that showed his innocence and they were also being squeezed by the feds and threatened with prosecution as well. You and I would probably do the same thing in the same situation.
Gen Flynn did refuse to lie when Herr Mueller and his Swamp Gestapo wanted him to turn on Trump as well as testify (wrongly) about an associate.
At one point, the Judge gave him an "out," but his old lawyers quickly advised him to stay the course, thinking it could upset the apple cart deal that they did outside of the courtroom.
Fortunately, he and his family had the wisdom to finally dump these incompetent (by design or not) lawyers and hire Sidney Powell. Remind me if I ever get into trouble with the feds to give her a call (although I doubt I can afford what will be her hourly rate).
Obviously, the deep state realized that Gen Flynn would have figured out all this Crossfire Hurricane charade pretty quickly and needed to get him out of the way fast -- even as high as Emperor Obama the First, who "warned" President-Elect Trump that his two biggest problems would be N Korea's Kim and Gen Flynn.. When that didn't work, they needed another way to get Flynn out of the way. And the deep state operatives are still at work with the Judge and his legal team.
It would be nice if the DC appelate panel told them it's time for this to come to an end today, but I doubt it.

Even though Flynn pled guilty to what now appear to an unwarranted criminal charge, it also appears that the case against Flynn was still ongoing in Judge Sullivan’s courtroom, as it does not appear that Sullivan ever stated that he convicted Flynn of the supposed offense or sentenced him. So the DOJ upon further reflection and evidence, in accordance with DOJ discretion was right in requesting that the Judge drop the charge against Flynn.
I believe that today is the day that Sullivan is supposed to give his reply to the Circuit Court of Appeals.

Someone on this board may not know that Flynn's admission was to prevent the DOJ from attacking his son also. It was ransom paid to protect his family.
I hope I'm never in that position.

Judge Sullivan didn't come up with this idea to persecute Flynn, and he didn't hire, or is he paying the lawyer. I want to know right now who is paying Sullivan's lawyer. Are we going to get another gofundme left wing money laundering operation?

I think today is the day that Sullivan had to answer the Appeals Court. Have we heard anything from Sullivan?

For those that argue Flynn lied when he plead guilty and that the case ended there; if that is so, why did Judge Sullivan not accept the plea and then sentence? Sullivan refused to sentence Flynn for over two years. Why?
