The novel coronavirus pandemic couldn’t shut down Target, but the rioting ripping apart major U.S. cities has. The U.S. retailer said Sunday that more than 100 stores nationwide, including 33 in Minnesota, would be closed after a fifth night of violent protests in Minneapolis, spurred by Mr. Floyd’s death Monday in police custody. “We are heartbroken by the death of George Floyd and the pain it is causing communities across the country,” said Target in a statement. “At this time, we have made the decision to close a number of our stores. We anticipate most stores will be closed temporarily.”

I expect that Target's primary objective here is to keep their employees out of the way of the looters. I think also that stores which get trashed might not be reopened.

Canton, Baltimore Target boarded up. Harris-Teeter, too. No vandalism as of yet. Done out an abundance of caution.

I wonder if Target expects the police to investigate these crimes.

Target should ask Chrissy Teigen for help. She's donating $200,000 to help get rioters out of jail.

It is somewhat ironic that Target comes down on the liberal side of just about every publicized issue. The rioters obviously don't have sense enough to know this----or they don't care and are just looting. (I'd bet on the latter.)

If i were a business owner I would not open a business in any black neighborhood period. let the blacks feel what it is like trying to get food, clothing, etc from the ruins of their own making. They broke it now let them fix it.

It’s ironic that Target has become a prime Target for the criminal rioters to burn down and loot, as Target was owned, and maybe still is owned by a very liberal family from Minnesota, that always has supported very liberal causes!
It just goes to show how stupid the criminal rioters really are, to willingly allow anarchists and other groups holding extreme leftist views to get them to burn down and loot the grocery stores and other critical businesses that used to serve their communities. Those burned out and looted businesses for the most part will never be rebuilt as the corporations, privately owned companies, and the “Mom and Pop” businesses will never be able to obtain the insurance at a reasonable cost that they will need to rebuild and operate.

For all of Target's leftist virtue signaling, which has driven off some customers, it didn't help them a bit when the leftist anarchist racist crazies decided to go burning and looting.

I would have believed the article if a real person had been named as spokesman for Target; as any child can tell you, buildings do not talk. I expect the Dayton family still holds most of the stock in the Target store enterprise. I don't go there, but I pick up a neighbor when I see her walking home from the Target branch where she works.

Where I live the city has paid grocers to open stores in minority neighborhoods with a guaranteed profit.
They still close after a few months. It is not color, it is culture.

In a related story today, braindead lie-beral Crissy Tiegan -- who makes millions of $$$'s from her line of housewares at Target -- promised to donate $200,000 to pay for the bail of the vermin rioters that are destroying Target stores!!!
If Target doesn't dump her today, they are as stupid as she is!!!!!
