Elon Musk struggled to describe how he felt after SpaceX, the company he founded in 2002, launched its first people into Earth's orbit on Saturday. At 3:22 p.m. ET, a Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying the Crew Dragon spaceship that SpaceX designed and NASA funded. Inside sat two NASA astronauts: Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley. It's the first time a commercial spacecraft has carried humans into space, and the first time astronauts have launched from the US since the end of the Space Shuttle Program nine years ago. "I'm really quite overcome with emotion on this day. It's kind of hard to talk, frankly,"

The Falcon rocket looked amazingly efficient and modern. The Falcon rocket makes the old NASA piggyback launcher look like it was made by the old Soviet Union. The NASA construction was so bad that it was abandoned and the USA was forced to use Soviet launchers for a decade. This launch is an incredible accomplishment, proving space exploration is possible, and can be done by the private sector.

Elon's a character, but characters are usually the ones who build stuff. Chin, Russia, they don't tolerate characters. God Bless the USA and congrats Elon. MAGA

Agree to all, esp #4. Elon is an odd duck.
But not only does he dream and build. He DOES. (Reminds me of one Donald John Trump.)

And therein lies the true genius of Elon Musk - the ability to obtain taxpayer money to provide the foundations of his companies (Tesla included). NASA gives SpaceX millions of dollars to design and build the crew dragon capsule; they give Lockheed Martin a multi-million dollar contract to design and build the Orion capsule. Still, he's in a league of his own - one much higher than that of zuckerburg or dorsey.

I watched the launch yesterday, and spent several hours this morning watching the docking. Magnificent stuff, glad to see an American team back getting us into space again.
Good to get off those antique Russian spacecraft.

And for those who think I might be exaggerating on "antique Russian spacecraft", the Soyuz first flew in 1967. So, while they are new production, the design is over half a century old. It doesn't mean that they are useless, but they are VERY old and there are a LOT better technologies out there now.

Elon, your emotional upwelling was quite appropriate, sir. I saw the launch and the docking on CSPAN. Even the Falcon 9 rocket gave the appearance of modernity as it drives toward a new frontier. The ultra HiDef camera images were stunning. How nice it was to see American ambition fly again for the first time in 9 years. And what a pleasant departure from the evil politics of the pandemic scam.

We needed this. Thank you, Elon and all of your team.
And thanks to NASA for abandoning the silly mission of outreach to muslims.

The photos of the astronauts, along side the photos of the rioters, clearly show the difference of white vs black.

Musk had to choose "3:22" as the launch time for his space escapade...? Musk had to pick Honest James Murdoch as a Tesla board member...?
Nothing warm & fuzzy about this guy, Musk.

It was a fabulous launch.... had to think of President Kennedy as I watched the liftoff... it was inspiring watching America back in the driver's seat... reminded me of Putin saying.... if Americans wanted to go to the International Space Station they could use a trampoline....I guess the jokes on him..... now...

To #13, you seem to want to find fault with Musk.
James Murdoch may or may not be the evil person you are suggesting, bu I suspect your attitude is engendered by bone pickers online. Loosen up, dude.
As for "picking" 3:22pm for the launch time, I admit that particular bible verse does jibe well with a manned launch, but so what? Let Musk have his fun. If you get all bent out of shape by such a harmless action, I would say you're WAY too wrapped up in minutiae. I won't speculate on why that is.

322 is a nod to 'skull & bones'...right in everyone's face.
Honest James was allowed to smash his white i-phone in the middle of the News Corp. UK hacking scandal, just like Hillary. He palled around with Alwaleed until the Ritz Carlton Riyad take-down.
I recognize Musk is an exceptional engineer/entrepreneur--I'm not a fan of his internet army of bots that support him at all cost on youtube and the rest.
Yeah, I'll try to lighten up...
