Twitter on Friday took the dramatic step of placing a “public interest notice” on a tweet by President Trump. The social media giant said a tweet by Trump that read “When the looting starts, the shooting starts” violated their policies pertaining to “the glorification of violence.”“We’ve taken action in the interest of preventing others from being inspired to commit violent acts,” the company said in a statement posted on their platform.Twitter did not remove the post, they said, because “it is important that the public still be able to see the Tweet given its relevance to ongoing matters of public importance.”

Of course Trump gets blamed for an “inciting” tweet rather than any condemnation for those allowing this to escalate. The governors have control over theit National Guards and their dem governor could have put a stop to the violence on day one. Call in the NG and shut this down! The dems and MSM live this!

Why is our President making these unforced errors? Dumbest tweets ever. You do not call black people thugs and do not threaten for the US military to shoot citizens.
He could get out early as a calm steady leader and assure black America that under his watch everyone is accountable.
Instead he comes out as a typical angry old white man.
This one was stupid, Mr. President.

#2, why are you assuming that Trump was calling just black people "thugs"? There are many many white people protesting too. To assume that he was signaling out just the blacks, well.....
I bet that many of the people are Antifa, called in to reap havoc.
My observation is that these riots always happen in liberal cities and states.

'Glorifying violence', my posterior.
It was a rather mild warning against violence.

People who steal TVs and loot are thugs regardless of skin tone and looters should be shot.

Obviously Jack Dorsey is convinced he's got the upper hand with President Trump in this new censorship battle on Twitter.
I look forward to Dorsey's fall from grace and Twitter's fall to irrelevance when Trump moves to Parler.

#2 - did you watch the videos of the rioting and looting...? There were many whites along with brown-skinned people wheeling HDTV sets and other goodies from Target (you can still tell that despite the masks - good on them for following Fauci's guidelines! \sarc)

"When the looting starts, the shooting starts". I have never seen a more direct, concise and effective statement of public policy. They can't say they misunderstood.

I do hope that some day we will have a more civil polite POTUS but I am convinced that if the republic is to survive the pattern of cowering to the sensitivities of the left had to be broken.
There isn't anything that glorifies violence in that tweet, to meet lawless violence with violence as authorized by the peoples laws and representatives which have their consent behind them, absolutely. Was that threat the best approach at this time, I don't think so but it comes wit the package that we desperately needed.
I also saw thugs of various pigmentation. Being white doesn't mean you can't be a thug and being black doesn't mean I can't or won't call you a thug when you demonstrate your qualifications for the term. To assume that calling the mixed race looting mob thugs means only the black people in the mob, is an absurd perversion of language designed to manipulate.

I think that our president was trying to convey the idea that the looter's next phase would be shooting -by them ,as they escalate the situation- NOT that the shooting will be initiated by the government, local or state law enforcement. If shooting the looters was the way to stop it , it would be over by now.

I wonder if it has occurred to the commies at Twitter that by placing a “notice” on PDT’s tweets, they are only enticing more people to read them.

That’s how I read it too #13. He isn’t referring to the military shooting people. He is referring to what happens when a city descends into a street war. Of course, the next play by the leftist media is to obsess on Trump’s word choice and not the rioting, but they would do that no matter what he said. Virtue signaling by liberals and mind numb millennials of both parties about privilege was rolled out in full force already yesterday all over social media. Obama is up next since he has been given sufficient cover to speak out. His legacy of lying and law breaking is being brushed aside for a new story right on schedule.
It plays out the same way every time.

It sounds like an observation to me--not a suggestion to become violent. When looters take to the streets, people start shooting. AN OBSERVATION!

We need to post a public interest notice on Twitter's public interest notices. Twitter can only draw attention to their opinions by attaching them to Trump's tweets, otherwise no one would see or read Twitter's opinions. Trump should charge Twitter for the right to post their opinions on his tweets. Twitter should be embarrassed by their arrogance, ignorance, and tyranny, but they won't be, because they are Democrat hacks. Since Twitter has decided to become a Democrat platform, they should be required to register with the FEC, and comply with campaign donation regulations.

When or if the 'thugs' get in your front yard let us know what you did or will do to stop it. Yes it will turn to shooting by the participants on both side. Lawless mayhem will bring results of shootings. Minneapolis is in free fall the President knows this and what will follow Twitter is just acting like a bunch of pricks.

Just another attempt to put a different meaning on Trump's words. Liberals aren't used to the truth, and they just don't believe in it.

Reading it as an observation of what the looters will do is super naive. It reads as a threat to shoot the looters, period. If the president meant otherwise, it was a stupid choice of words. But as a threat of law enforcement, it should have been serious, not gleeful as it is. I defend his policies and intentions 99% of the time, but he makes much of his own trouble with his manner of speech. It matters.

I normally love Trump's tweets but not this one. I use the word 'thug' to include anyone or any color but everyone knows that the media has declared this one of their dog-whistle words.
President Trump should have simply said the man's death was tragic, we're moving swiftly to make certain justice is served and left it at that.
