The store clerk who called 911 on George Floyd complained to an operator about an 'awfully drunk' man who was 'not in control of himself'. A call transcript released by the Minnesota Police Department on Thursday reveals that the caller reported a customer for using a counterfeit bill to buy cigarettes at the Cup Foods in Minneapolis. According to owner, Mike Abumayyaleh, Floyd had tried to use a counterfeit $20 bill but was turned away by an employee. He is said to have come back a second time, using the fake bill, NBC News reports.(Snip) Someone followed him out and demanded he

Clearly police had a good reason to detain/arrest him, but just as clearly the jerk who murdered him should not have been the police officer to do so. In fact, he should not have even been a police officer at all, and we all hope he gets life in prison along side 1,000 fellow inmates who hate him.

I don't ever expect to get kicked by a horse, because I don't ride horses.
I don't ever expect to be subject to excessive force by a police officer, because I obey the law.
Clearly, the system did not work within intended tolerances. But its the government. The government never does anything effectively, efficiently or as intended.
When you invite the government into your business, especially for venal reasons, don't expect me to get worked up about things when they go south.

A diabetic with low blood sugar will often be mistaken for a drunk or someone on drugs. consistent symptoms are slurred speech, mental confusion, and lack of physical coordination that mimic symptoms of alcohol inebriation. Not saying this was the case here, but at this point I wouldn't rule it out.

What are the results of Floyd's autopsy and toxicology reports?
Don't you think we need to know the cause of death, supported by medical tests, before everyone calls this murder?

So what? If he was the black Charles Manson that wasn't justified. If the real cause of death was a drug overdose the knee to the neck for the last 8 min of life isn't justified. Nor was treating him like a sack of potatoes when he should have been given CPR. No telling what happened in the ambulance but I didn't see any concern or urgency.

My thought too #6
Toxicology
Autopsy
And the one Asian cop....should we hate Asians now too? Burn their businesses?
Mass feral violence seems to be the weapon of radical lefty rats...always waiting for that call to arms. So many devils in that rats nest.

I'll say it again.
I want to see a tox screen on the dead man's blood.
How much alcohol? It is not terribly hard to drink enough alcohol to kill yourself, it happens with great regularity. Add in any number of (unfortunately) common street drugs and people die from "drugs and alcohol" every single day. I want they to show me that he was "killed by the police", not died in custody from his pre-ingested drugs and alcohol.
This same BS was going down about how the cops had murdered the guy in Baltimore. Burning, riots looting, all the same crap, and all the Enemedia lined up feeding us the same BS.....and ALL OF THE COPS WERE ACQUITTED because they didn't kill him. The juries were mostly black.
YES, the cop who kneeled on his neck should be fired, and if the autopsy shows that the kneeling was the cause of death, that is at LEAST manslaughter, possibly murder. If so, he should be in prison.
But we now know that he was "awfully drunk".....perhaps already on a trajectory to die from alcohol poisoning, or alcohol + drugs overdosing. Let's let the legal process play out and not join the damned screaming lynch mob.
I am appalled at how easily led and manipulated people are when they have a tiny, partial bit of the facts, and want to interpret things without hearing both sides of the story and getting the REST of the facts. We have trials for a reason. Lynchings are wrong, and this is turning into a lynching and I am appalled at some of the posters here, joining in with that mentality.
Baltimore - FAKE NEWS.
Zimmerman/Martin - FAKE NEWS
How many times do we see this same old story before we get a bit skeptical that the race baiters may well be beating their drums for power again, and we MIGHT NOT have all the facts yet and we need to WAIT FOR THE FACTS TO COME OUT!!??

These riots have little do with the injustice that's taken place and everything to do with the revolution that Soros and his ilk want.

No, absolutely not should this man have endured 8 minutes of a police officer's knee on his neck. Don't care what his toxicology report shows. He was handcuffed and the police officer should have been talking to him about the complaint of $20.
This is about leadership. We have a justice system where people can get away with criminal acts and victims are fed up. This doesn't mean criminals are treated poorly.

Yes yes, autopsy and tox report. Absolutely.
BUT if the police officer's actions caused or even hastened this man's death, that is a crime. And in this country crimes are prosecuted regardless of who you are.... or at least they SHOULD be.
Being difficult or belligerent with a cop should not mean he gets to execute you.
Police should be held to a higher standard for all our sakes. Remember, you or someone you love may be on the other side one day even if you all are law abiding citizens. Wouldn't you want justice to be done?

There are two sides to every story relating to the Black man dying, and so far we have only heard one of them.
Also there are two stories relating to what went on in Minneapolis, one was one police encounter incident with the Black man who ended up dead, and the other the criminal rioting that took place later.

I cannot think of a single justification for kneeling on a man's neck for eight minutes when he's already on the ground, handcuffed, I expect better judgment from professional law officers.

I think the tox report is immaterial. Given our polarized society the results may be hailed by one side or reviled as a coverup by the other.

I wonder if the cop was drugged or drunk. Why would a cop put his knee on someones neck for 10 plus minutes until he asphyxiated. The victim was, hand cuffed and on the ground, surrounded by 3 other cops. The victim was no threat to the four cops. Doesn't matter if the victim was drugged or drunk. Nobody deserves to asphyxiated by a cop for passing a bad $20 .

So the guy goes into a store twice and tries paying for whatever with a bogus $20 - which was taken by the checkout, if this account is accurate. When realizing the bill was phony , store personnel follow the guy and demand his cigarettes and phone? What does his phone have to do with anything?
The cops have been called. What is with the knuckleheads that got to involve themselves? This stuff doesn’t end well. And I bet it’s not a unique situation at the store, either.

No matter. Arresting him didn't kill him. A thug, with his knee on the back of this man's neck, refusing to let up when he called out in distress, killed him. This cop apparently has a history of misconduct or complaints against him, and that matters in the conversation. It would matter for Mr. Floyd; should matter for the cop too. Just because other high profile incidents of cops killing people they were arresting were "fake," doesn't mean this one is fake. I don't how you can watch the video and not have sympathy for that poor man, regardless of the riots and protests after the fact.

I'm with #4 on this. I try not to give anyone a reason to kill me and I maintain a polite social interaction with strangers. It's not difficult unless you walk around with a 'tude on roids. That said, apparently the purchase of cigs with fake twenties or the sale of loose cigs in NY can get a brothah killed in tha 'hood.

I WANT TO KNOW: Was the $20 really fake? What if they were wrong? What if it it was a fake $20 that he got as change from something else and he did nothing wrong except try to honestly pay with what he thought was a $20 he got from another store? I haven't heard anybody ask / answer this! This could all have been started over nothing!

Floyd was on the ground and handcuffed and cops were around. The situation appeared under control. Maybe it wasn't. Maybe there have been incidents of police making an arrest and people from the crowd interfering. Usually, they cuff them and stuff them was was he on the ground instead of the back of a cruiser?
I understand knelling on pressure points to convience the arrest-ee to calm down but not the neck. I want to see the event reports. This was at minimum excessive force and the guy needs to be off the force forever. The rest, not enough info. just lots of questions. But the leadership is doing a poor job of controlling this situation. Get the rioters under control now and do it hard if necessary.

WTF a police force that goes into hiding, let the "enemy" burn down the police headquarters, out of site to protect the community. Bring in the National Guard and they go into hiding. We have a bunch of chickens protecting our cities.

#10, the autopsy showed he was NOT strangled. Where did you get you medical degree?
Wait for the facts. Videos often do NOT show what is really happening.
It has seemed pretty clear to me from day one that the airway (trachea), which I have been trained to clear and protect in emergency medical responder class was not being compromised in the video. Now the autopsy shows that it was not choked off and he did not strangle.
