Toll prices on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will increase dramatically beginning Sept. 13. Turnpike Exit 19W on the western spur in the Meadowlands will also be getting a toll, following unanimous 7-0 decisions by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. The commissioners unanimously approved increases of 36% on the turnpike and 27% on the parkway to help pay for what they said will be $24 billion in infrastructure projects. The decision came around the same time that the South Jersey Transportation Authority approved toll hikes for the Atlantic City Expressway.(Snip) The average Turnpike toll goes from $3.50 to $4.80.

MA legislators raised taxes and fee the first of the year, giving themselves health raises. Now they gather to do it again. Uber fees up, gas tax up, and who knows what else.

Just one more reason to stay away from the North East.

I have 2 daughters in MD. Glad that I have since moved from New England to the South. I can avoid NJ Tnpk and when I visit other family in PA, I do not need to take the PA Tnpk. Those two roads are highway robbery to drive on.

I live in the republican southern part of the state . The majority of the population is democrat and lives in the north. We have already lost the Homestead Rebate. The senior tax freeze is probably gone too. But, Murphy always has money for non citizens aka illegals.

Since King Cuomoron's gov't does nothing that could be described as 'earning a living', it must---like others who are work-averse---exist on welfare or by stealing. You weren't allowed to go to your worker bee jobs in the Big Road Apple, so now they must steal what would have been your toll 'contributions' to make up for the shortfall. They will have many other nefarious, official muggings in the works.

When I travel south from NH I take I84 into PA and then head south on I81. This bypasses all NY/NJ tolls. From I81 I can go east to any state south of NJ. No only is the traffic less, the scenery is better. Add in the traffic backups in the metropolitan NY area and my travel time is less, even though I drive further. And the tolls are more than the gas I burn to avoid them.

I don't do it often

When the Parkway was finished in the early 60's the toll plazas were supposed to be torn down after the Parkway was paid for. So glad I moved out of that slime hole in 1973.

Eventually citizens reach a breaking point and move away. If it weren't for illegal immigration, all these dark-blue Northeastern states would have sizable population declines.

New stinkin' Jersey. A GREAT place to be from.
Had to pay a bribe (land transfer tax) to get out of that hole 15 years ago and I wouldn't go back there for any reason ever forever.

I hate tolls...they get put on to supposedly do one thing, but they NEVER come off after the original purpose is satisfied...

Oh, oh, I foresee Saint Cuomo raising Thruway tolls too, even though the cost of putting it in was paid off years ago. Tax payers were promised that once it was paid off, the tolls would go away. This was the sucker vote to get the thing passed to begin with. Raising fees is what demonrats do each and every year. Rather than raise income taxes which would pretty much guarantee that they wouldn't be reelected, they raise every fee in sight including those on your electric/gas and telephone bill. You used to be able to see on your utility bill what it costs per KW for gas, water, etc. plus wind and solar farms but it suddenly disappeared once everybody got wise to the $.21/KW for that wind/solar while the rest of power generation was less than $.10/KW for every other source.

It's for the children.
Or perhaps: Women and minorities hardest hit.
Can't decide.
