The number of Americans venturing out over the Memorial Day weekend has spiked to levels not seen since the coronavirus pandemic brought the United States to a grinding halt more than two months ago.Cellphone data from Apple's COVID-19 mobility trends report shows that the number of people out driving across the US increased by more than 25 percent on Saturday alone. The number of people out walking also increased on Saturday to levels not seen since mid-March when stay-at-home orders were put in place across most of the country. In comparison, the number of people driving and walking around dropped nearly 70 percent

It was inspiring to see things much more normal. A lot of people saw it, and came back and started buying stocks. America is back. The lockdown crowd are in an ever tightening squeeze that will inevitably leave them holding a ruinous hand. The mask crowd will soon discard their nasty, sputum filled masks, or get sick on their on filth. Please discard them in a trash can. The nasty things are everywhere. Social distancing will fade by the end of June. Schools will start in the fall. Don't worry about it. The NFL is going to play. The NFL has weighed their bank accounts between playing and not playing, and decided they will play. The shutdown crowd will not be able to survive the tightening thumbscrews. And that is so great. Freedom will win, smiles return. The Democrats will be left with their frowns, and their misery. Even worse for them, Trump is going to win in November, so Democrats, get your promises to leave the country ready.

Am I the only one concerned that Apple is collecting travel data on American citizens? Better turn off those cell phones if you want to attend church or get you hair cut in the states run by Democrat governors like California. In my opinion, if you voted Democrat last election then you have absolutely no right to complain about losing your business or losing your freedom to travel.

Takes me usually six weeks or so before I need to fill my gas tank. I haven't filled since March and I'm at about 1/2 tank; I'd better gas up before the price is above $2 again.

Rock n Roll. Not planning any road trips to blue states though. They're just depressing.

My wife and son took a trip to a small artsy/music venue town nearby (he was looking for a summer job).
She said the crowds were as heavy as she's seen any holiday weekend, pre-Covid19. Very few masks in sight and the 6 foot rule was observed more in the disregard than actual concern.
We've had enough of this stuff.

I hope that people are traveling again. And, IMO, "spikes" in Wuhan flu cases, outside of nursing homes is not going to be a very important thing since the great majority, say 80-90% will not require much medical care, if any.
In my county, 75% of the deaths are of people 80 and over, and the majority of them are in nursing homes.

#4 is the only one so far that gets the real significant part of this article; Apple is no different than Google; Tracking your every movement.

#4 you hit the nail on the head. Except for one thing, turning the phone off doesn't help. You would need to remove the battery and sim card, leave them at home or just leave the phone at home. Once the phone is turned back on the travel data is updated.
I totally agree that it is frightening to realize that Apple and Google are able to track us like this, we are one step away from an entity using that data against us.
This is an item that needs to be addressed in President Trump's second term.
