The New York Times published an editorial on the first day of Memorial Day weekend asking: “Why Does the U.S. Military Celebrate White Supremacy?”The article‘s byline is the entire editorial board, and it is accompanied by an image of a bullet shaped like a Ku Klux Klan robe. The central complaint of the article is that there are U.S. military bases named after Confederate Army officers: This same toxic legacy clings to the 10 United States military installations across the South that were named for Confederate Army officers during the first half of the 20th century. Apologists often describe the names as a necessary gesture of reconciliation

It's the new york times. Who cares what they upchuck, except that they did it with exquisite libtard bad taste on Memorial Day? I trained at Benning and Gordon. Does that make me a white supremacist?

Sorry about posting twice, but if we're talking about Civil War crimes, let's talk about William T. Sherman.

You mean the same US military who integrated and opened all opportunities for advancement to ALL who serve, well before the rest of the US managed the same? Consistent. Form over substance.

Oh another race baiting fake journalist, We celebrate the men and women of all races who gave their lives to keep the citizens of this country free, that even maggots like this fake journalist can write garbage without being executed. Any sewer plant that publishes this type of fecal matter should be condemned. Anyone want to rename every town, city and state so as not to offend anyone? Our history has proven freedom is not free it came with a huge price tag. Normal people in this country honor that sacrifice.

The NYT is on the proverbial morgue slab of newsprint. It’s degenerated into the equivalent of the Village Voice, an agenda-driven mouthpiece and propaganda organ of the Far-Left.
The death rattle sounded in 2016. Pay it zero mind.

Funny thing...those so-called confederate names for military bases were there during the inept Barry's dictatorship. Where was the outcry then? Nowhere to be found, that's where. This is the NY Slimes living up to its slimes reputation.

Lovely to hear the voice of patriotism in all the comments. The New York Times should just pack up and relocate to the country where they would feel most appreciated.

The despicable NY Slimes - - and its communist fellow travelers - - are soaked in the blood of millions of murdered innocent human beings.
The despicable NY Slimes celebrated and abetted the murderous communist regimes of Stalin, Mao, Castro, Pol Pot, and every other bloody commie. If there were true justice - - every person who ever edited or managed the despicable NY Slimes would be hung from a stiff rope.

I have no problem with the editorial nor with removal of statues which celebrated the 'heroes' of the Confederacy. These were deliberate 'in your face' efforts by the Democrats who have been the undeniable historic face of slavery and post-Civil War racism in our country.

I am East Coast, ex NYC, and the Times stopped being "the paper of record" for me a long time ago. Unfortunately, their on-line business is soaring, though the hard copy paper is sinking. They will survive and and as long as the "intelligencia" read the paper and swear by it, it keeps its sheen.

Maybe they just don't like the fact that Robert E. Lee was the most talented officer in the Civil War and probably would have won given an equal amount of heavy equipment and soldiers. Nah, the NYT would not know that much history.

I find it odd that leftists always forget that the roots of racism in this country, particularly in the south with the KKK, were almost exclusively a democrat party thing. The democrats also love Planned Parenthood whose origins show that they were nothing but a thinly disguised anti black organization bent on eradicating the black race through abortion. It must be nice to have selective memory and be able to project your motives on the opposing party.

I joined the US Marines 63 years ago. Stationed at Camp Lejeune NC. White kid from Mass. My bunk mate (two beds, up and down) was a black Marine from NY. We became best buds. Hung out on and off base. We missed all the "white supremacy" events for some reason.
I doubt if anyone at the "Slimes" associated with the article ever served.

The New York Times, is the personification of evil. Their vile words are written on the blood and bodies of our beloved military, who for generations have given all, so they could spew their vile and hateful words everyday.

I wouldn't use the NYSlimes to line a birdcage. This is totally and completely disgusting. The U.S. Military is the most integrated portion of our society and one in which black enlisted men and women and officers can thrive. This is obvious to all who possess a reasonably well-functioning central nervous system. Why would the Slimes do this on Memorial Day weekend? Probably because the military votes conservatively. Who still reads their trash?

To the New York Times - HOW DARE YOU put such tripe into a supposed newspaper on a holiday to HONOR the men and women who, through the ages, have saved, supported, and bled for this nation's freedoms that you so often spit on. I now see why you are dying on the vine, why your circulation fades, and why you have lost any honest relationship with your former readers. You embarrass yourself.

The true fact is that without the US military and the veterans who gave their lives while in the armed forces, the dopes who write fake news and general liberal BS in the New York Times would end up being in re-education concentration camps up to being selected as involuntary organ donors. Does anyone believe they would get away with their fake news and BS liberal propaganda outside the Western democracies?

I will agree to change the name of ONE military base named after a Confederate general just as soon as New York City renames "Times Square" to say, America Square or Freedom Square.
Times Square is named after a Stalin hugging, Nazi-crime hiding, Castro butt-kissing newspaper that I despise. I'm offended every time I go there. So there.

Nothing about the NYT surprises me. They keep emailing wanting me to subscribe to their claptrap. I wouldn't sully my home and mind with the garbage they manufacture. No, they're not shoving their hate and lies down my throat! They must believe 'we are all stupid' - as are those who believe what they print.

This should come as a surprise to no one. This is the same anti-American rag that served up that libelous piece of trash they called the "1619 Project" last August. Black racialist fairy tales appear to be the the NYT's new stock in trade. It is no longer journalism. It is certainly not history. It is something else. Racialist lies intended to pit us against each other, the classic Marxist move to create the chaos from which the new Marxist slave masters emerge.

The NY Times has gone out of its way to be as hateful and offensive as it can on Memorial Day. I served from 1963 to 1966 in the Army which was integrated at that time. Plenty of all races have served this country and many have died in serve to this country. On Memorial Day, we who have served honor all who have died.
It is obvious that those that committed this cowardly act of desecrate have never served a day in the service of their country.

The New York Times doing what it can to support the party of Thomas Jefferson, slavery, and Jim Crow. When Trump won, they hadn't been that mad since Lincoln freed the slaves.
