Blame governors for the coronavirus
deaths in nursing homes

Original Article

An article in Nowhere Magazine several years ago explored the ways ancient cultures dispatched the elderly, a practice known as senicide. Author Justin Nobel recounted several gruesome rites that made the Inuit habit of putting Granny on an Arctic ice floe seem humane. At one point, Nobel mentioned that his own grandparents had moved “to a fancy nursing home in the suburbs of New York City.” That made me shudder. If they are honest, historians judging the American experience during the coronavirus pandemic will excoriate our barbaric failure to protect the elderly.

I don’t understand. Why not use the Javits Center that the President had reconfigured as a hospital by the Army Corps of Engineers, U.S.N.S. Comfort that the President had sent to NYC or the Samaritan’s Purse mobile hospital set up in Central Park to use as a transitional facility for the patients that were released from the hospital but were still a risk to patients in nursing homes? It really does seem like a irresponsible decision to mandate that nursing homes had to readmit patients that tested positive for the virus. I can’t imagine the families of these nursing homes patients when their loved ones were stuck in an unsafe environment and they could not visit. This has just been one disaster after another because of decisions made by some governors. It is still going on too with some governors arbitrarily making decisions based on nothing other than their own political agenda. Clearly, we are seeing two very different approaches to decision making during this pandemic. It is based on concepts of freedom v. tyranny, fact based policies v. politically driven agendas. As a result of these decisions Americans have received in real time an education regarding the disastrous impact of agenda driven would be autocrats.

My guess is the reason the governors didn't use the ships for the virus patients was hospitals will be reimbursed for patients with the virus. The ships were prepared to accept the patients & somehow they never made it to the ship instead they made it to the nursing homes to infect others...very sad situation.

I have said this many times, why would the democrat governors put sick COVID-19 elderly back into the nursing homes? The hospitals were NOT overloaded, NY had two federal facilities. The governors made a decision to send the elderly back to a confined facility where this virus spread to other residents with already compromised health. MANY facilities were NOT equipped to handled these sick COVID-19 elderly. I believe it was orchestrated and done on purpose. They all knew by doing this would lead to a high death rate with these victims. Here's a hint. Our Health commissioner in PA removed her mother from the nursing home to a private hotel just prior to releasing the regulations for the treatment of elderly with COVID-19. She knew that it was a death sentence for the sick elderly and she had her mother moved to a safe area. I believe that every state that did this should be held accountable and someone needs to serve some serious time. Call me a conspiracy nut, but I think it was genocide. Both HHS (Dr. Carson) and DOJ (AG Barr) need to have a full blown investigation into this.

NY, Pennsylvania, NJ all did this. These Democrat governors needed the number to be high. The higher they go the more they think this will hurt Trump's reelection. The high death tolls in Italy were the result of a very elderly population. They knew exactly what the result would be by sending the elderly back to the nursing homes.

I see no difference between this and going into a facility with an assault rifle and opening fire. They had to know that sending infected people into a nursing home environment would end in more deaths.

FTA - "An article in Nowhere Magazine several years ago explored the ways ancient cultures dispatched the elderly, a practice known as senicide. " Dim governors in various blue states have crossed this line during the pandemic. The dims really blew it here. Kind of reminiscent of the practices employed in the 1973 movie "Soylent Green" where the elderly would agree to be dispatched and turned into food in exchange for being shown a touchy-feely video of how beautiful the world once was. Over here in the People's Republic of Colorado, things are returning to normal on the west slope where I live. Our county commissioners recently told Gov. Polis to jack it and most businesses are open now while the citizenry uses common sense with masks, washing hands, and safe-sneezing habits. But, the Denver deep state is still in full lock down and the Denver msm is so proud of what they did to their viewers. All dims should be shown the door in door, I wouldn't even trust our county dog catcher if he/she/it is a dim.

Governor Cuomo: Call your office! Cuomo just wanted to beat up on President Trump and blame him for the supposed lack of care facilities, ventilators, etc. President Trump called his bluff and sent the hospital ship, the Corps of Engineers to set up the Javits Center, and supplied more ventilators than were needed. Cuomo didn't use them. He was afraid it would make President Trump look good! Cuomo got outsmarted by President Trump, and must take the full blame for the nursing home deaths. Families should sue him for every penny he has!

We are now reaping the bitter harvest of the seeds of discord previously sown by the hate America hippies of the 60's who became teachers, school administrators and college professors ... and then merrily poisoned the minds of the next generation! By not teaching simple civics to Generation X and Y or Millennials, only the generations born before 1970 now know anything about the Constitution and how it is being violated and how individual rights are being trampled. The total lack of understanding state's rights can be laid at the feet of this hate the USA crowd. And understanding true Federalism is a lost art. None of these recent actions by several governors would have even been dared to be tried as recently as 1990. Why wasn't America shut down during the polio epidemic, the Hong Kong flu crisis, etc? Simple ... real citizens wouldn't have allowed it! Not as many sheep as we have now. Sad.

#12 - Why wasn't America shut down during the polio epidemic, the Hong Kong flu crisis, etc? It was not shut down because the thought never entered into anyone's thinking, regardless of politics. Americans were given another civics test with this, and have failed miserably. The long term effects are unknown, but there will be many, some much less subtle than others. And in the meantime we have once again given liberty for security. The malevolent forces have confirmed how easy it is to induce hysteria, to stampede the public into pens...those institutions we once considered most trustworthy have again shown themselves as untrustworthy. See, I have this model...and I've pushed in some data I've collected...

I think this is just an extension of what has been going on in hospice and palliative care facilities across the country for some time now. Not all, but many are medicating people into a vegetative state and then withholding food and water until they die. I have seen this happen twice with extended family members in the past year. The family is usually in some degree of shock and later wonder what exactly happened. My mother -in-law had a spell about a year ago, they put her on meds which did not sit well--she was taking no medication prior to this. She ended up in the emergency room last fall in pain, the next thing we know they tell us she is dying. A nurse let slip that she had an illeus--medication induced intestinal blockage--extremely painful. This condition is treatable, but she was never treated for it. She should never have been put on the meds, they thought she had a mild heart attack in the first incident but then said she had not, but prescribed the meds that killed her, in my opinion, anyway. Be very careful out there.

Jail time is in order. They were aware of the consequences involved. Dr.Dick Levine removed his mother beforehand and ensconced her in a very upscale hotel where she is getting great care. Other families of residents didn't have that option. Please send him to a men's prison because that is what he is. I refuse to swim in his mentally ill pool of delusion. Cuomo isn't the only governor who forced this. PA's Wolf did as well. This is pure evil on their part, and I hope the video conference scheduled for later today between the WH and the governors makes the point that they are acting not only unconstitutionally right now, but in many cases highly illegal. There is no more crisis for them to exploit, and I hope that AG Barr can make the point today that he is planning to come after these governors big time.

75% of the deaths in our county were in nursing homes. Interestingly, the overwhelming majority were in a single nursing home, which my wife tells me is part of the same national chain that it started in out in Washington state. Perhaps this is a poorly run company with lots of bad nursing homes? I don't know, but "what a coincidence". There should be a serious after action review on nursing homes.

It would seem that some of these governors, upon seeing an opportunity to expand their authority and gain power over their "subjects" have gone round the bend and gotten carried away. An example of this is the harpie in Michigan. I keep watching the news to see if she has changed her title to "Emperor" yet Unfortunately while I sympathize with the good folks in Michigan and some of the others (such as those in Illinois, California, etc), there is some "You voted for these tin-pot dictators. The only upside for these voters is the fact that, from what I read, Lefties are scrambling out of their burrows and escaping to Red states where they believe that they can co-opt these voters and work their black magic. If one is paying attention, one can PLAINLY see that the left's prescription of throwing money at the electorate, purchasing their votes. and keep taxing until all of the OPM (other people's money),is gone, then look for a bail out.

Seven people, all from different households, not only gathered for Thanksgiving but distributed to the media pictorial evidence of them flouting mask mandates and social distancing edicts. No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.
