People heading to Philadelphia Romanian Church in Ravenswood on Sunday might have a hard time finding a parking spot. (Snip) The church’s pastor, the Rev. Florin T. Cimpean, took aim at Mayor Lori Lightfoot in response to the parking ban.
“The police called me to inform us that they were asked by the mayor to put up the signs. It is completely ridiculous,” Cimpean said in the statement. “The mayor is inciting hate against the church which is very sad. A lot of our members risked their lives to escape Communism, only to find it germinating in 2020 under mayor Lightfoot in Chicago.”

Anyone who watches “Parking Wars” knows what a ordeal the people who have their cars ticketed, booted & towed for illegal parking in Philly will have to endure to get their cars back. This action is beyond dirty. Where’s the ACLU when you need them? Oh, wait...

I don't know what the answer is, but peaceful protests, editorials, and complaints to the media aren't working.

What the Pastor needs to do is assert his and his parishioners' need to tend to their "personal hygiene" because they take it very, very seriously, and Church is where they choose, I mean NEED, to have it done.
Chicago is a mean and nasty place. Windy City? A city full of windbags.

I have a hard time feeling sympathy for these folks in Chicago. THEY voted in this horrible Mayor! They keep on voting in Democrats who are only interested in taking care of themselves and have no interest of doing what is best for those who put them in office. But, they keep doing it again and again. So, so sorry, you reap what you sow!

That is just breathtakingly evil! Maybe the pastor should ask Costco if he could hold his services there since “congregating” at Costco somehow seems to impart magical protection.

All voting are Marxist Communist whether they admit to themselves they are or not. Marxist Communism is what their DNC stands for, and has a copy of the agenda of the Communist Party of America as their agenda.

What's to be said of ANY police man or woman who A) would be a party to posting such signs and/or B) be a party to booting/towing or ticketing cars of church-goers?
Ahhhh, you say... they were "only following orders".

I for one am sick of Chicagoans (my birthplace) whining about their government yet repeatedly electing the same Democrats who work tirelessly to destroy their city. Please shut up until you elect someone else.

Keep it up Democrats and you will never win another election. Lightfoot, if you run again, you would not be elected as dog catcher.

The streets aren't closed, right? Then the drivers drop off their passengers in front of the church. Park a few streets away. Of course, some parishioners might not be able to walk a distance but maybe they could get friends to take them to church and drop them off.

We have asked this question often lately but how do people like her get elected in the first place? I realize that black, female and lesbian are bonus points for politicians these days but doesn't there have to be something underneath that also qualifies them for office? Between making Jussie Smollett a saint and making the working people of Chicago criminals, I see no leadership ability there.

Seems to me this is a 1st Amendment issue. What other purpose can the mayor's office provide for road closures?

The community should get together to carpool these church members so they can have their service with no one parked anywhere. If you can’t overcome an obstacle go around it.

I believe this is in Chicago #1. Philadelphia refers to an era of the Christian church, not the location. Lightfoot aka Mayor Beetlejuice, is a nasty Christian attacking woman. #6 has an interesting idea. lol

This is a blatant violation of the First Amendment. Where are the courts on this? BTW, not everyone in Chicago voted for Lightfoot. There was no Republican candidate, so those who opposed her just didn’t vote.

When states and municipalities violate the Constitution, the federal government is supposed to step in to ensure the natural rights of its citizens. Justice at the federal level is too media driven. If the mayor of Little Rock was effectively shutting down streets around Black churches and mosques, imagine what the federal response would be in contrast to what Chicago's mayor is doing to a largely White congregation, the "optics" of which must be tolerable to the current administration.

We had a mayor in our city several years back that started acting like a dictator...We took care of his problem by delivering a ton of trash to his front door!
