LOS ANGELES – Two brothers who refused to wear masks inside a Target store in Van Nuys last week were arrested following a brawl with security guards that left one person injured. The incident occurred Friday at a Target store located at 5711 Sepulveda Blvd. According to Los Angeles police, the brothers entered the store without masks and were asked to leave by a security guard.
One of the suspects then punched the security guard, police said, which then lead to a fight involving the two suspects and four security guards. One of the security guards suffered a broken arm and
Swedes no doubt.

If Target is going to require masks to enter its stores, it should provide a mask by regular store personnel, rather than causing conflicts by asking such people to leave the store, and by a security guard. A notice should be placed on the entry doors that a mask is required. Personally, I do not wear a mask, and will not shop anywhere that requires them. People that don't like it are invited to stay 25 feet away from me.

Trouble could have been sidestepped had they claimed to identify as anaerobes.

Businesses have every right to require customers wear masks just as I have every right to shop or not in their stores. Stores do need to post these requirements outside to prevent misunderstandings and providing disposable masks would also be nice since finding a mask is a bit challenging for some. Better these kinds of adult decisions made by free people than state mandated nannying, shaming, and even prosecution funded by our tax dollars.

No shirt, no shoes, no mask, no service.
The stores are PRIVATE businesses. They have the RIGHT to deny service for not wearing a mask.
Potential customers have a right to take their money elsewhere.
This is not the act of some fascist government thugs. Target is a PRIVATE business.
They don't have to sell you a wedding cake, either.

I refuse to wear a mask, too. So far, not a word has been said, not even a glance out here in Free America.

I don't wear a mask because it does nothing. Its just another feel good thing the public can do that makes them think they are helping. Plus its a way to gauge how much of the public is willing to "comply". I''ve not seen a store that requires it and wouldn't go in one that did. If a rent a cop tried to make me, I might belt him myself.

I live in the NYC area so it's not optional but I agree with #9. Whether the fear borne by others is real or not, it is real fear and I don't want to add to it so I wear a mask if I go into a store and did before it was mandatory. But I wear it for them, not for me. I could get into a debate over it but I can debate anywhere. Anyway, I DO think there is value in making sure if I cough or sneeze that it doesn't go out into the air. But still, I wear one mainly to avoid loud or quiet freakouts by others.

Nothing more annoying than driving 20 minutes, reach your destination, and discovering you cannot go in.
We keep 2 masks in our car just in case.

#13, Target is not a private business. Shares of the company are bought and sold on the NY stock exchange.
I refuse to wear a mask too - I see it as a sign of government oppression. And if they try to make getting a Corona vaccine mandatory, I will point out that Roe v Wade was made law due to a “right to privacy” inserted into the Constitution by the presiding SCOTUS bench. Forcing me to get a vaccine is an invasion of my privacy. “My body. My choice.”

We’ve truly fallen as a society if an act of resistance is not wearing a mask in public. They’re germ breeding grounds and do nothing.

It is not accurate to say that masks do no good. They do not prevent the wearer from catching a virus but they can help prevent the spread of the virus by the wearer. They are, however, unnecessary to wear in outdoor areas such as parking lots or parks when people who don’t reside together keep their distance. I personally am not yet at the point where I believe being compliant to the jury-rigged rules is an act of cowardice but I feel far less enthusiastic about obeying than I did two months ago. Soon, it will be incumbent upon the liberty-loving and healthy to lead everyone else in various degrees of civil disobedience against petty tyranny.

Here's how you do this, you just say "I tried to wear a mask but had an anxiety attack. I'm extremely claustrophobic." Works for me.

Against my better judgement, I went to Target last week because of the hour and my grocery store was closing. I wiped down a cart in the parking lot and took it in. The person wiping carts inside never noticed me. That store was as busy as I have ever seen it, half the shoppers did not have on masks and no one said anything. Every few minutes a recording came on reminding people about a six foot safe distance. What a joke.

18, private as opposed to government. These are generally accepted terms. Being on the NYSE does not make them a government entity. It only means they have a large number of private shareholders / owners.
