While politics is no stranger to driving a wedge between friends and family, one set of parents has apparently gone way too far with it and disowned their conservative daughter and her fiance, so much so that they have refused to attend their wedding.
In a Tic Tok video, Tracy Boettcher, the daughter, claimed her parents told her to choose between them and her fiance.
“I chose myself,” said Boettcher. “I chose what would make me happiest in the long-run.”
Boettcher said in her video that her mother told her she was incapable of being loved because of her sexual assault at the age of 17 and added that she’s choosing her fiance.

Good for Don Jr. I do not willingly associate with leftists. It's painful when it is your own kin.

It’s a generous offer by Don Jr, but maybe not such a good thing to get involved in family disputes when you really have no idea what the truth may be. No doubt he would check it all out before making a full commitment.

The parents deserve the rest of their angry miserable bitter lonely lives, especially as nationally known hate filled TDS leftist idiots. I wonder if they’ve realized that they’ve sacrificed not only their daughter but their future grandchildren.
My mother’s father (divorced from her mother) disowned my mother shortly after my parents were married. He never met the three of us, his grandchildren, though we lived in the same town. He died when I was about 6 years old.

Fifty-eight years ago my wife walked, unescorted, down the aisle. Her mother never, ever, said why she disapproved of the marriage and her father wouldn't defy her and escort her despite my wife wanting him to do it. My relationship with them never improved despite the birth of our two kids and me never being discourteous to them or disrespectful of them. Did give me as running joke, however. Up until the time of my mother-in-law's death I would tell my wife I would never divorce her because I wouldn't give her mother the satisfaction of saying, "I told you so."

TDS is truly a mental health issue and it should be in medical journals, if it's not already!

As one who has been unfriended on FB by a relative (by marriage), being told by another friend what a horrible person I was for being conservative and disagreeing with her on global warming, and having a friend who told me that his liberal father unloaded on him publicly at his wedding reception, I don't doubt that this can be true. Having said that, there are probably other underlying animosities that have been festering for a while.

Better to cut off from them now than later. If wanting good friends and support, contact the nearest Republican Club... filled with good, America-loving people.

The farther she stays from her dysfunctional, hateful parents, the better her life will be.
I hope Don, Jr. carries through with this. Sounds like she is developing into a strong person, probably with the help of her conservative fiance.

Good for him!!
At a family reunion two years ago I was a fellow passenger in the car with my sister-in-law (from liberal Seattle) as she casually told the story of her friend. Her friend almost had to disown her own daughter because the boyfriend was conservative. Fortunately, my sister-in-law said, the two college age kids broke up so her friend didn’t have to make that choice. “But I feel for her” my sister-in-law said. “”I’d have done the same thing.” A fine statement that left me wondering if she would disown ME if she knew how very very conservative I was. Uncomfortable car ride for me!
What saves me with my liberal family is they simply assume all nice intelligent people are liberal and agree with them, because everyone knows (according to them) conservatives are knuckle-dragging Neanderthals. Sheesh.

Family interactions can be strange. Our family's only 'hermit' is an aunt of mine, somehow never would interact with the rest of the family. Christmas cards went unanswered, never a visit, never at any of the family reunions.
My father's brother died a couple of years ago. I think that I probably met my uncle's wife (my aunt) perhaps once when I was very young, like 5 years old. In the last nearly 70 years, my side of the family has NEVER met that family. My uncle has traveled by himself a number of times to visit my father, and we get along famously, he was a funny, friendly, kinda goofy guy. But I apparently have 3 or 4 cousins that I have never met, don't even know their names or sex, and wouldn't recognize my aunt if I met her, no idea if she is still alive.
I never new what was going on with her, and my mother and father never knew, either, just saying "Oh, that's just Cygna" when the question was raised. I don't know if it was personal, or political, and she apparently had no interaction with my grandparents or my father's sister's family, either. The uncle and my father exchanged emails for decades, the uncle a liberal and my father a conservative, sometimes the emails were a bit heated, but they still loved each other, laughed and got on well in their rare visits.
People have odd things that get them upset.

My younger , middle sister, was a die-hard Seattle liberal and I was the racist, conservative Louisiana southerner. We got along well, until her passing in 2015, because we never, ever spoke politics. We both knew where the other stood, we accepted it and went on about our lives. We didn't visit in person, only by mail and phone, but that was because of her very obnoxious son, who I couldn't stand to be around.

If you don't believe that liberalism, leftism, and TDS are mental disorders just watch the goings on of the present Speaker of the House. Once you see her in action you'll agree that it is truly a mental disorder. If they ever make a remake of One "Flew Over the Coocoo's Nest" they could include the whole Democratic party also.

She will always be their child, but children grow up and become adults who make their own decisions. The parents ought to respect that and 'give her away.' IF it is true that the boycott is all about politics, that is the stupidest, most selfish decision the parents could make and they deserve the scorn many would have for them. No matter what the story is, they don't come off as caring parents. If the quote form the mother is correct, that is horrible.

Thats a slippery slope.
People really do not know what went on.
I have a commie family and my kids are brainwashed.
They ruined a guys life by falsely accusing him of rape.
They planned for the worse and I would not fall for it by going after the innocent guy.
