Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has called for a salon owner to be released from jail as he slams the judge who locked her up for violating the state's stay-at-home order.
Shelley Luther, the owner of Salon a la Mode in Dallas, appeared in court on Tuesday where she was sentenced to seven days behind bars and $7,000 - $500 for each day she opened her business' doors. Gov Greg Abbott's started phase one of Texas reopenings last week, but did not allow salons to resume business - but that didn't stop Luther from opening up.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy to hear this! The orders are unconstitutional and thus unlawful. I am so proud of this woman!

The AG should have some way to make this judge's life unpleasant or worse.

One expects nothing less from a Quota judge. The AG should challange the ruling in court if he really believes the ruling is unconstitutional. Remember, the mayor that issued the order is, well, a quota as well.

She violated no law. Executive orders are not laws. She should sue him for all her expenses. He is mandated to enforce law.

Many if not most judges go through an entire career without imposing a jail sentence contempt. The AG should have simply asked the judge to reflect further on the punishment, and to vacate the sentence, recall the prisoner, stay the seven days incarceration, impose a $500 fine for each day she continued to operate, along with six months probation on condition that she obey all laws, and then allow the matter to proceed on appeal. The judge instead became ego-involved and took her position as a personal challenge. The court of appeal will likely reverse the sentence for abuse of judicial discretion, but too late for her to avoid incarceration.

The AG should send the Texas Rangers to the judge’s house at 5 am, kicked in the doors and haul his -ss off to the slammer.

We are jailing people for violating the lockdown, and letting people out of prison so they don't get CV.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

The fault is entirely Gov. Abbott's. Read his executive order on reopening:
"WHEREAS, under Section 418.173, failure to comply with any executive order issued during the COVID-19 disaster is an offense punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000, confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 180 days, or both fine and confinement."
So, blame the judge for bad judgement. Hooray Abbott!

The GoFundMe page for Salon a la Mode has already raised $421,000 of its $500,000 goal, from 11,600 donors.
Judge Moye is a worthless, arrogant, lifelong, Democrat political hack. Enough said. As this foolishness continues, the voters are seeing a lot of trash requiring removal in six months.

Re:#11 - OK, we get it; your posts indicate absolute disdain for Abbott and a generally dim view of Texas. Where, pray tell, is the model state and governor that all American conservatives should seek to emulate? Please try to cite a state with similar demographic shifts brought on by massive illegal immigration combined with legal blue-state job opportunity and tax refugee immigration. We'll try to do better in the next election. Ronald Reagan wasn't available to run against the democrat in the previous election.

When are these judges who are making their rulings based on nothing more than their own political bias going to feel the sting of the Law? Any judge who cannot rule based on actual law needs to be unceremoniously booted from the position. Most of these rulings from Obama and Clinton appointed judges are based on stuff that most people would never be allowed to use in a court of law. So why are the judges getting away with it?

#14 - My disdain is for irrational support of poltroons who issue executive orders that lead to situations like this one in Dallas. Gov. Abbott, like nearly all state governors, is a politician caught in the hysteria and boxing himself in without consideration of the consequences. Seriously, do you agree with this latest executive order? The previous orders? Then you must agree that this Dallas salon owner, flaunting the governor's order, deserves punishment - even severe punishment to serve as an example.
Abbott signed the strict order. The judge sentenced her in accordance with. Who's the problem in this equation? Of course, the judge must be.
