Cuomo Gives People Another Reason to Hate
New York: He'll Tax Coronavirus Volunteers

Original Article

If you’re a healthcare worker who went to New York to volunteer to help fight the coronavirus outbreak there, Gov. Andrew Cuomo says you owe New York state income taxes. Even if you were not working for any pay in New York, but you were still being paid in your home state. Pay that enabled you to volunteer and put your own health in danger to help New York. That’s classic taxation without representation. Americans have a history of not liking this. Health care workers that came to New York to help fight the coronavirus pandemic at its epicenter will have to pay state taxes, according to the governor.

Trust me. This is about taxing Samaritan’s Purse volunteers. Yes SP is a 501c3 but wonder if Cuomo’s lawyers are on the lookout for a loophole or way of taxing any Christian groups that have helped out.

as I read this, I had a conversation with myself. my first question was, how would NYS know the names, addresses, social security numbers of medical volunteers from out of state? Then I answered the question - because NYS probably required the volunteers to obtain temporary licenses to practice in NYS! Little Andrew is politically tone-deaf. What a damned fool! And he has a 'New York' frame of mind!

I used to say, tHat Andrew's father, Mario the Pious, was the meanest man in America and that the son was the second meanest. Andrew has easily succeeded as the meanest. And just how is he going to collect that money? I haven’t seen an intelligent Democrat in my long memory. They all have that fascist gene.

I lived in Rochester NY years ago. When I went to the NYC office to help, I was required to pay NYC taxes. The key is this..... does the state and city know that you are there? If they dont, and you dont tell them, they dont know to rake you over the coals for taxes. I avoid NYC like the plague.....oh wait. Now I have a better excuse to not go there.

No one ever mentions Bob Percopo. I wonder why. Andrew Cuomo's right hand man for decades, a man who Mario called "his other son". Yet we never hear from him..... Because, he is in prison for taking bribes for a power plant....thanks Andrew for a corrupt administration. Of course the DNC-Media gives him a pass.

Part II: New York is a tax fanatic. I remember decades ago when their agents used to travel down to the mall in Erie, Pa. around Christmas time and post reminders on cars with New York plates to be sure and declare their sales tax when they returned home. If I recall correctly, Pa. tax was 5% back then and NY was 8%.

When I was stationed in NJ, living on base, car registered in my home state. NJ would send tax packets to everyone on base. Very few actually owed taxes, but the State kept sending letters and threats. Finally the Feds stepped in and shut them down, but not before those who DID file got dinged for the previous years taxes as well, since they filed they had to explain back some years why they didn't. I never forgot that lesson. If it comes from government throw it away..if it's important they will send it again. That swore me off of ever A.Voting for a Democrat, and B.Getting out of Jersey the second I could.

One of the nation’s most prestigious national labs has developed a new fuel substitute for the same jet fuel that powers cruise missiles. Los Alamos National Labs has come up with a replacement fuel for JP-10 that uses corn bran and other feedstocks instead of petroleum products. The result is a fuel that can be sourced directly from America’s most plentiful crop, bypassing foreign sources. The Tomahawk missile is one of the most plentiful missiles in the US military arsenal. Developed in the 1970s, Tomahawk was one of the first low-altitude, radar-evading cruise missiles to enter service, and today 145 U.S. Navy warships carry the missile daily

Crisis affects people in different ways. Among the more unsettling ones, you could point to images of armed civilians storming state capitals from Lansing to Raleigh, or perhaps that video that leaked over the weekend of a poolside bacchanal in the Ozarks. In early April, Jason Furman, a top economist in the Obama administration and now a professor at Harvard, was speaking via Zoom to a large bipartisan group of top officials from both parties. The economy had just been shut down, unemployment was spiking and some policymakers were predicting an era worse than the Great Depression. The economic carnage seemed likely to doom President Donald Trump’s chances at reelection. Furman, tapped to give the opening presentation, looked into his screen of poorly lit boxes of frightened wonks and made a startling claim. “We are about to see the best economic data we’ve seen in the history of this country,” he said.

Even if Biden’s age problem wasn’t so obvious, it would still count against him for a simple reason, which I call “Hayward’s Unified Field Theory of Successful Democratic Nominees.” Since World War II Democrats generally win the White House with a younger nominee, usually in his 40s, with a clear generation-changing message about the future: think John F. Kennedy (“New Frontier!”), Bill Clinton (who openly claimed to be a “New Democrat”—”End welfare as we know it!”—deliberately breaking with the party’s stodgy pro-welfare, pro-criminal past), and Barack Obama (“hope and change!”). Even Jimmy Carter, though in his 50s when elected in 1976, fits this screen in a number of ways.

It’s easy to mock such things, and I shall try to do once or twice here, but the idea of petitioning parliaments, congresses, and governments is an ancient, honorable, and essentially democratic one.

In the past two decades, China has invested heavily in its naval modernization program with the objective of building a blue-water navy. Crucial to that goal was the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), China’s leading military shipbuilding state-owned enterprise from 1999 to 2019. Yet the recent arrest of former CSIC Chairman Hu Wenming highlights the fact that serious corruption exists among China’s military shipbuilders, in spite of sustained graft fighting efforts. In the past few years, important individuals of CSIC have been nabbed under corruption charges.
