The 2020 Pulitzer Prize for commentary was awarded Monday to Nikole Hannah-Jones for an essay in the New York Times that falsely claimed the American Revolution was fought primarily to protect slavery. The essay, titled “Our democracy’s founding ideals were false when they were written. Black Americans have fought to make them true,” launched the Times‘ controversial 1619 project. The essay incorrectly claimed that the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776 (signing began weeks later, on August 2).However, the far more egregious error was Hannah-Jones’s claim

A racial smear blows up in the NYTwits’ face and, natch, they give themselves an award for it.

That's why I refer to it as the"Pullet Surprise", for the most chickenshiite articles in journalism.

The Nikole Hannah-Jones essay is like new math. 2+2=5. No it is not correct but it makes her feel good to think it is. Her interpretation / revision of history apparently makes her and her liberal friends feel good about themselves and their grievances. That her story (and that is exactly what her essay is, an imaginative revisionist history story) is totally fake does not matter. To make matters worse, you cannot argue with her about her essay without being pegged as an unsympathetic racist who is blind to what really happened due to your Racist White Privilege (which of course will be used to reaffirm the basis of her essay).

It fits right in with her advocacy for the bogus "1619 Project." Everybody gets a trophy, even those infected with the Bogon Virus. Make stuff up, don't provide sources or documentation to back up your fabricated and imaginary history... win a prize!

The name of it is Revolution. That means to revolt. In order to revolt, you need an entity to revolt against. That was England. There were slaves all over the world, then, and lots of them world wide now. I guess those who award these prizes are as dumb as those they give them to.

Good Lord. The Pulitzer Prize now means exactly nothing. Any past winners with integrity should return theirs.

Dig deeply enough around in the Pulitzer legacy and you will discover the invention of Yellow Journalism and the later endowment of Columbia School of Journalism.

Apparently the Pulitzer wanted to compete for most meaningless award with the Nobel Peace Prize.

Whoa. Bozo the clown. As we say in the south "There are lies, then there are damn lies" When boomers are all gone, the total distortion of history will take place. There will be no one left to call them out. I keep hoping someone will sue over all of the changed historical facts.

It's a truism that the winners write history.
So how much longer do the losers get to?

She's one of these twits heavily involved in Project 1619 to remake history. She's just another Jim Jones type demonrat follower hoping to force even more revisionist history on the already dumb public education students.

Quick, some intrepid reporter (sarc.) please get Creepy Joe his buddy BHO on record about the 1619 project. The American public should know where they stand, as if we don't already know. The entire left despises our founding fathers for both the moral and physical courage that was required to stand up to the British Empire. As a result we are currently not subjects of the crown and enjoy the liberty and freedoms inscribed in our Constitution. And as we have seen in recent months the abrogation of our Bill of Rights by most of the governors of our states. We are seeing that our freedoms can be taken away by the signing of Executive Orders which are not prescribed in that document.
