California will reportedly close all beaches and state parks beginning Friday after swells of beachgoers fled to the shore last weekend in defiance of social distancing rules. The state’s governor, Gavin Newsom, will formally announce the decision Thursday, according to a memo outlining the move obtained by FOX 11.“After well-publicized media coverage of overcrowded beaches this past weekend, in violation of Governor Newson’s shelter in place order, the governor will be announcing tomorrow that beaches and all state parks in California will be closed, effective Friday, May 1,”

He forgets that Democrats like to go to the beach, too… We are waiting for another Reagan Revolution among them. All of the bad policy he is cranking out affects them, too...

If they are seriously stating that being outside on a sandy beach next to a large body of salt water or in a wide-open forest still poses a threat of contracting this virus, then it's all over. If true, there's no way any of us won't contract this virus eventually and die of it.
So, the gay governor of the State of Californication has declared the Wu Han Flu as an ELE, or Extinction Level Event.
So glad the likes of him is here to become my savior. (/S)

How many people can Big Brother arrest in one day and where will they all be put? Then, after everyone is in jail, will it be Trump's fault when all these people test positive in jail?
Will Newsome let all the real criminals out of jail to make room for all the people who violate his decrees?

Good luck with that Guvnah. When the peasants revolt there is little that can be done to stop it. Newsom's days are numbered, just like many other officials across the country who thought they could put crowns on their pointed little heads.

They just can't stand the individual making their own decisions. At least the cattle rancher isn't mad at the stray. The herders of humans on the other hand become enraged when we dare defy their supremacy.
I also heard this morning on Fox, but I don't recall their source, that by golly California saw an increase in cases after the fun weekend. Clearly the implication was that the beach freedom made people sick. Funny we had the same thing in Illinois and we didn't hang out on beaches. You don't suppose both increases were the direct result of more testing do you? No couldn't be.
Weren't we also told that getting out in the sun was a good way to kill the bug?

Dean Wormer has declared, "No more fun of any kind!" But if people are arrested, does that mean they will be put in jail, where they will run a greater risk of being infected by the virus?

One additional nuance to understand about this petulant and pretty stupid order from Governor GQ for those of you who don't live in California. The places where the crowds were particularly large and openly defiant were Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, and the Orange County beaches in general. This is about the last heavily populated area of California that is still a major stronghold of Republicans. The Democrats finally got a majority there in the last election by flooding it with illegals, so this was especially galling to Governor GQ and the fascist Democrat Party.
In short, he HAS to show them a lesson. And yes, he will arrest every single one of them if they defy him again. And he definitely would clear out every felon in every prison in California to make room for them. But Orange County also has the most heavily armed citizenry anywhere too. Believe it or not, this could be a Concord Bridge moment.

I think that if I was there, and not planning to go to the beach....I'd change my plans just to push back at this damned governor. Would I go hug strangers? No, and I would make an effort to keep a bit of distance, but this virus is destroyed by sunlight and humidity. What could be better than a sunny beach?

Governing only works when people obey what the government says. As the government becomes more incompetent, corrupt, and tyrannical, fewer people obey. Eventually enough people stop obeying the government, and the government collapses. Is that what Newsom and the rest of the lefties want? Strongly suspect that. They would rather govern at the point of a gun.

So, most of the people who were close together, were likely from the same household.
We also know that the UV light from the Sun kills the virus on surfaces quickly.
Therefore, the likelihood of people on the sand getting infected seems very small.

I was in a invite only with the Fire Chief of HB last night and it was stated that there is no way that they could commit the resources to a total beach closure. An unnamed relative works the 4/12 shift patrolling the beach and shutting it down at night from tower zero to Sunset beach. His comment was " yeah right".
You better bring lot of CHP Newsome, because you are going to have to close PCH to do it. I can already hear the rising Howl if that comes in to play. This is really turning in to a giant cluster fork.

I encourage people that are fed up with the isolation "order" to crowd around Governor Gavin Newsom's residence this weekend and wave to him with an extended middle digit.
