With more than 55,000 deaths attributed to it, COVID-19 would seem to remain a major U.S. health threat, justifying the closure of the U.S. economy. But if so, why is the overall U.S. death rate declining in the midst of a deadly pandemic?
It’s a curious thing. In recent weeks, despite a growing COVID-19 infection rate (due mostly to a jump in testing) and rising fatalities, the overall U.S. crude death rate (total deaths per 100,000 population from all causes) is falling.
That’s right, falling.
“Despite the panic over the Wuhan virus, it now appears that the overall U.S. death

What's the death rate this year for all causes compared to the death rate for all causes last year and the year before? I wouldn't be surprised if Covis spiked this year and everything else went down.

Oh great. The Democrats will seize on this as proof we need to keep the lockdown permanently in place to keep the death rate down. Fascism is so good for us, you know.

The CDC seems to have the worst data organization and display of any site I visit. But it does show 61,000+ deaths for the week of April 5, higher than most years.
If the CDC just vanished, we might all be better off.

Can't scare the people into submission if they see death rates declining.
This has been a test. Thank You.

Well, I'll do the 1-minute study for you for free. Answer: Duhhh. Hardly anyone is driving, no long commutes. Can't go to restaurants & bars to over-eat, drink too much, or get into fights. No stores or banks open to rob and get shot. No excessive exertion to get heart attacks. Cops too busy arresting dads playing with kids at the parkto get into shootouts with actual felons. If people get cancer, they get recorded as coronahoax. Etc.
On second-thought, that will be ten bucks...for a double-double bacon cheesburger for my consultation fee.

I'm afraid this isn't true. The CDC "Provisional Death Count" shows all-cause deaths for the weeks ending 4/4 and 4/11 are up 111% and 110%, respectively. It takes a while for all the death reports to be submitted, so the "provisional" numbers for recent weeks will be too low.
"All-cause" eliminates ambiguities about which deaths are actually caused by COVID, but then, of course, this figure doesn't prove that COVID is responsible.

A study was done in Israel in the 70s after a nationwide doctors strike. to their surprise the death rate was down dramatically. They determined that since hospital admissions were down dramatically that was the cause of the drop in the death rate. Medical errors cause a couple hundred thousand deaths each year. No medical care means no errors (accept maybe the in treating Covid-19 patients)

I remain HUGELY disappointed with Trump - - for falling for this scam.
He was pitch perfect before - - but he fell flat on his face with this hoax. Even worse than falling for the hoax - - was his approval of Big Government bailouts, handouts, and subsidies. Creating "money" out of thin air - - without creating any wealth.
Really, really stupid by Trump - - but we all still love him anyway.

Beware #8, some here will berate you for your "negativity" and tell you that you need to shut up! Apparently for some it's all unicorn farts and fairy dandruff . . . . oh, and screw reality!
But, just for the record, I agree that Trump, as well as my "Republican" governor, fell for a boatload of BS! I can excuse their initial reaction, since in the beginning, we didn't know how bad it was going to be. HOWEVER, we have LONNNNG since found out that this Kung flu is no worse than any other flu, so these draconian lockdowns are now quite obviously unnecessary and idiotic in the extreme!

I was going to half-jokingly suggest that the reason was fewer people going to doctors/hospitals, but #7 beat me to it. I agree with others on deaths related to traffic and fewer people being out and about, BUT, I think the annual death rate from medical mistakes is around a quarter million so there probably is something there. I personally have been fearful of doctors and hospitals long before Covid-19 came along. Mostly because of their propensity to prescribe dangerous medications.

Re CDC - I just looked at their 2019-2020 flu "statistics". They are only estimates. I should think they would at least know how many have been hospitalized - 410,000-740,000! Obamacare mandated computerized databases and that's the best they can estimate?
Deaths 24,000- 62,000?
CDC is a waste of tax $$$
C'mon, man, no joke !

I expect the deaths due to collisions on the roads are way down since our keepers made non-essential driving a punishable offense.
What I want to see and can't seem to find is a side-by-side tabulation of the infection and death rates from FLU in 2019 and 2020. Why that contextual info is not being regularly presented is the primary reason I am not willing to shrug off my skepticism. (If the covid-19 threat is real, that tabulation should be front and center.)

It's not who dies when, it's WHO COUNTS the deaths and how they list the cause of death.
With loads of extra cash going to Hospitals etc. for "Covid 19" caused deaths, rest assured if you choked on a bite of food, that Darn Covid 19 caused the throat restriction etc.....

I'm an old goat. I was born when polio was still rampant. Never before have a seen a response to a disease such as this. I smell a conspiracy. Over reaction to control the sheeple and teach them a lesson for electing Trump.
