A CNN journalist pens a fascinating insight

On April 7, Bill Weir, CNN’s Chief Climate Correspondent, had a son. Weir wrote an open letter to his son telling him that he was born into Hell on Earth, also known as the modern Western world. The letter perfectly encapsulates everything the left hates and wants to see destroyed. Below, in italics, are my summaries of many of Weir’s pronouncements, followed by countervailing information. Climate change is making nightingales have shorter wings, so they’re all going to die because they can’t migrate. First, the study, after noting some nightingales have shorter wings, makes an evidence-free leap to blaming climate change. Second, “[w]hile the British population of nightingales has been declining

Maybe his son will read the Bible and reject the doctrine of his Gaia worshipping father. Then he can live a happy and fulfilled life instead of a pessimistic life of false guilt.

Please, please, please stop calling them "Journalists." They wouldn't know what a real journalist is if he/she hit them right between the eyes. These are propaganda agendists hell bent on making a name for themselves and trying to impress people to get a better job. I know from what I speak; I am a recovering newsman, not a 'journalist."

Liberals are good at worrying about non-existent problems. Real problems like broken families, bad schools, drug addiction, government abuse, and moral rot are of no interest to them. Probably because their philosophy has caused them.

When my grandparents put their children to bed in the 30's they assured them that everything was going to be OK, they prayed with them and reassured them. They had the depression to contend with and the looming WWII. When my great-grandparents put their children to be, same thing, different real world danger, WWI. When we faced very real certain danger we did our best to insulate the children. But now when we tuck our children in for the night the parents tell them that there are monsters under the bed. It is flat out child abuse to tell your young teen that they must save the world from certain incineration in 12 years.

My first grandchild was born on March 18 and I was not allowed to be in the hospital for his birth due to CV19 precautions. He was born in the middle of a lot of chaos and insecurity but I have told him repeatedly how lucky he is to have been born in the best and most free country in the history of all mankind. His 30 year old parents have not been sucked into any of the left wing nonsense whether it’s “climate change” or “transexualty” or any of the other insanity, and they are church-attending Christians so he is doubly blessed and will grow up knowing how fortunate he truly is. BTW, we should all pray for Weir’s son - he is going to need it.

Weir looks at life with his right eye closed, metaphorically speaking. So he can't see both sides of anything and has no depth of vision. Andrea demonstrates this by taking his points one at a time and systematically showing that each has another aspect that mitigates, offsets, or even overcomes its worry. Among the news media (reporters / journalists / editors) it seems two-thirds close their right eye whenever they look at something, and the other one-third look at everything with their left eye closed. What would the world be like if we all looked with both eyes open? And would any of us be interested in following news that didn't over-emphasize one side or the other? Would our cultural motivation die if that dialectic ever resolved into a cohesive whole?

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced popular consciousness to face mortality after decades of anticipating life extension and even the Singularity as a birthright. Yet it did not appreciably diminish the popular belief that technology would save the day and allow us to renew the march to progress before too long. But to await salvation would be to expect more from technology than is reasonable. First, there are suspicions the pandemic itself may be the product of technology, of rogue experiments or bad lab containment. Technology does not 'save' anything of itself; it works in both directions. It can construct an electric toaster

As the northern hemisphere begins to emerge from the worst of the pandemic, political punditry is focusing on two issues: how to reopen the economy and how to decouple from China. The two subjects are related because a large part of the Western economy is joined at the hip with Beijing. To a substantial degree, China produces what America consumes. Each country's holdings in the other are enormous. They are bound by innumerable contracts, deals, projects and cross-posted personnel that are not easily severed. This system of cross-dependency was consciously pursued to vaccinate the world against a repetition of the two world wars. However, globalization also significantly eroded the independence

The news out of Seattle is that Antifa has captured a seven-block area in central Seattle that they've dubbed the Capital Hill Autonomous Zone, or CHAZ for short. (snip) the challenge in our current debate (which is not really a debate, because whenever facts are presented, the left shuts down dialogue and lobs the ever present term "racist") is that the media have glorified the most heinous of acts in urban centers throughout the country in the name of justice. But it's not about justice. It's about rubbing raw the sores of discontent, as Saul Alinsky asserted in Rules for Radicals.
