Matt Drudge fires back after Trump
claims Drudge Report readers
'dropping off like flies'

Matt Drudge of Drudge Report fame issued a rare public statement over the weekend after President Trump claimed his website’s readership was dropping. “I gave up on Drudge (a really nice guy) long ago, as have many others,” the president tweeted Saturday. “People are dropping off like flies!” Mr. Trump and his supporters have noticed a shift in Mr. Drudge’s coverage of the president in the past year, accusing the longtime conservative must-read of adopting a leftist bent. Multiple conservative news aggregators, including Dan Bongino’s The Bongino Report, have since launched in an effort to scoop up Mr. Drudge’s readers.

Comments:

I stopped visiting that page years ago, and a few months back set aside nostalgia and removed the item from my browser's toolbar. Sad; I'd been a very regular reader since before the L.com days.

Drudge sold out over a year ago. I still go there sometimes to see what the demomedia has to say. But the guy that held truth to power in the Clinton obstruction of justice is long gone. From a hero to a zero. We can honor the memory.

I used to read Drudge every day. The page refresh drove me crazy but I tolerated it. I haven't been to Drudge in about a year. I don't tolerate turn-coats. The conservative sites that have sprung up to fill the void suit me fine. If I wanted leftist news I would go to CNN or one of their friends. Leftist news sites are a dime a dozen.

Personally, I only 6 months ago, back out of Drudge's Content. But just 'check it out' from time to time...Not much there BUT! FTA:"... despite Mr. Trump’s claim, Mr. Drudge said his web traffic is better than ever.." I think that is just pure hogwash...WHAT I DID NOTICE IS....The practice of 'forced reloading' of the website is getting more and more frequent! It used to do it about once a minute; now it seems to 'reload' multiple times in a minute! That is a truly dishonest way to jack up the click count on a website...Seems Drudge and his new owners are certainly good at that.

I noticed the leftward trend over a year ago. The last time I visited Drudge was on Black Friday, when its headline that day blared something about disappointing sales, when in fact we had record sales that day. Drudge has just become another leftist fake news outlet.

Flaming attention seeking prostitute. That's all Drudge has ever been. His huge claim to fame is he at one time actually had links to stories the MSM tried to bury. Now he is following their script. It is obvious and about as smart as Dick's deciding guns didn't belong in their outdoors section. I get all the media lies here, but with actual facts I will never find on drudge. For headlines, protrumpnews, works great. Drudge and his stupid hat can enjoy their new love in with the left. All Drudge has to do to keep his hit numbers up is to reduce the amount of time between the annoying automatic reloads. "Oh, hits have dropped by 25%? Decrease the refresh rate from once every 160 seconds to every 120 seconds." Pretty sure it was once set to four minutes, and it's at two minutes now.

Ivy League schools have been criticized for netting millions in taxpayer-funded coronavirus bailouts despite swimming in endowments worth billions. The country's most prestigious private universities including Harvard, Princeton and Yale are among the beneficiaries of Washington's $2trillion rescue package to keep businesses afloat during the epidemic. Higher education institutions have been apportioned $14billion of the aid provided under the CARES Act to weather the financial hits landed by the lockdown. Students have been sent home, and while many are taking classes remotely, the schools risk not collecting the totality of tuition fees. Of the top private schools, Cornell and Columbia will receive the most at $12.8million each.

The government’s top auditor gave ICE and the Border Patrol a mostly clean bill of health Tuesday when it comes to treatment of pregnant illegal immigrants, finding that while dozens of complaints of maltreatment are lodged, few of them can be substantiated. Complaints that were backed up included one instance where a pregnant woman in custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement wasn’t given prenatal vitamins, according to the Government Accountability Office. Another substantiated complaint against the Border Patrol found that an agent had posted a picture and information about a pregnant woman online, violating the agency’s social media policy, the GAO said.

Illinois Democrats are demanding $41 billion from the federal government for coronavirus relief, including $10 billion for Illinois's cash-strapped and underfunded public pension plan. The most fiscally mismanaged state in the union that has criminally neglected funding its public pension fund for two decades wants Washington to pull its chestnuts out of the fire? Certainly, states should get something. But what Illinois is asking for is shocking. Chicago Sun-Times: “I realize I’ve asked for a lot, but this is an unprecedented situation, and we face the reality that there likely will be additional, unanticipated costs that could result in future requests for assistance,”
