Throughout the state’s history (save the last 20 years or so), Californians have been adventurous, individualistic, and bristle at the thought of being told what to do or at being expected to conform with rules set by “the man.” Starting with the Gold Rush, people who didn’t fit in in their hometowns went west to find fortune, fame, wide open spaces, or to be able to invent their own identity. That California spirit has produced the entertainment industry, Silicon Valley, Walt Disney, and much more, and has also led people in other states to jokingly label the state as “the land of fruits and nuts.”

Kalifornia has 33% of the nation's welfare recipients which translates into huge dependence on the State. I don't see what this author is seeing

Jennifer!
Have you been there?
Have you lived there?
In the once-golden state?
It’s been captured by the socialist left
In Sacramento!
You’ll have to exterminate that Capitol
To have ANY hope!
It’s gone Jennifer...GONE

Jennifer, we don’t like rules and regulations set by persons that at least 5 million of us did not vote for. That long predated the coronavirus …
And most of the 39 million who live here would rather have their hair pulled out than go on welfare.

By my calculations about 1 in 1,300 people in CA are infected. About 0.003% of the population has died of the virus in CA. This is hardly the Bubonic Plague.

The problem with any Left-dominated State is that it doesn't matter a fig if the People resist. A significant majority of Californians tried to pass legislation affirming marriage being between one man and one woman, but the leftists judges reversed the will of the People. The same goes for environmental regulations and the desire for controlling illegal alien issues.
We can hope and pray that the People of the State are able to rise up significantly enough to throw off the bonds of the totalitarian thugs.

Kalifornians might bristle at the thought of being told what to do, but they sure don't mind telling the rest of America what to do.

Funny, I have lived in California with a C all of my life and never had any desire to tell any other state what to do. One of the things that bugs people about Californians is that, usually too busy and too content, too happy with the beauty they live with all the time, they don’t have the time or the inclination to lecture others. Many of our families came from other states. Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and other countries like Scotland and Switzerland. Some were French Huguenots. The California city I grew up in was settled as the Indiana Colony. My grandfather was born in Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. He ended up in California by way of Pennsylvania and never looked back. Those who ended up here loved it. Family members who visited wished they could stay. My Scottish grandmother loved being able to grow beautiful flowers and vegetables all year round. So did my Mom and Dad. And unlike those who throw stones from behind walls of silence about the wonderful states they live in, we are proud to be Californians. We don’t keep our state a secret. No temporary government can change that.

I was just out riding around the Baltimore area, and noticed more people not wearing masks then wearing them. Seems people in general have had enough of the virus story, and just want to get back to normal living.

Cali-zuelans, like New Yorkers, are for the most part compliant sheep, especially in the coastal cities. Up in the foothills they pretty much ignored all the BS coming from Gov. Hairsllck. I haven't complied with any of their fascism except I can't go to places that are closed, and the government unfortunately owns all water access in the state so I can't go fishing.

Seems we could use more push back like this so the Mini-Stalins in state and local governments are stopped now, rather than when we are in a full blown depression. It will really hit the fan then. I predict that Dems won't reopen their states until shortly after the election.
