Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick announced Thursday that he would be donating $100,000 to a coronavirus relief fund for minority groups. Kaepernick took to Twitter to pledge his donation to the Know Your Rights Camp COVID-19 Relief Fund. “Join us in our mission to help address the disproportionate affect the pandemic is having on our communities,” he said in the post. There were 671,425 reported coronavirus cases and 33,286 deaths in the U.S. as of Friday morning. But, according to a Washington Post report from earlier this month, African Americans are dying at a “disproportionately high rate.”

Good to hear from you Colleen. I'd like you to help me understand my personal problem with racism pertaining to another 19th Covid breakdown: I still attempt to "run" at my advanced stage of decay going about 5 miles through an affluent community. I play mind games by counting various observations, I have found that the first sign of overdoing it when the weather gets warm to hot is the loss of cognitive function well before I otherwise know it's time to stop. So I have happened to observe how people I encounter are behaving in the season of the plague. It's been a great pleasure, people are more friendly much closer on a social level while keeping much greater distance physically. I have only encountered three people who didn't act as if they give a fig and refused to give me space, in one case I had room to give in two cases I did not, bushes fence and railroad tracks in the way. These three consisted of two women and one man. The man ignored me completely and was engrossed in a phone conversation with the wireless ear things, one woman gave be big friendly smile and one young woman glared at me as if she was most disappointed that I existed at all. You know what Colleen, all three were black. Dozens of white, brown Asian, East Asian and my favorite young lady with downs syndrome who handles her two big dogs better than anybody else on my route, all politely getting out of each others way while sharing friendly words waves or smiles. So Colleen, what's wrong with me because I have this deep seated prejudice for thinking that people's behavior matters and perhaps the significant variable is something they control opposed to something they can't control.

SEATTLE -- Boeing and at least one other U.S. heavy-equipment manufacturer resumed production and some states rolled out aggressive reopening plans Monday, despite nationwide concerns there is not enough testing yet to keep the coronavirus from rebounding. (Snip) The reopenings in the U.S. are a drop in the bucket compared with the more than 22 million Americans thrown out of work by the crisis. In a dispute that has turned nakedly political, the president has been agitating to restart the economy, singling out Democratic-led states and egging on protesters who feel governors are moving too slowly. The U.S. will need to administer 20 million tests for the novel coronavirus each day by mid-summer in order to fully remobilize the economy in a safe fashion, according to new report from a Harvard panel of more than 45 experts in health, science and economics. Former Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Scott Gottlieb has said that the country will need to initially conduct up to 3 million tests per week to reopen. A separate estimate from Harvard University researchers says the U.S. must conduct between 500,000 and 700,00
