U.S. intelligence has “increasing confidence” that the novel Wuhan coronavirus outbreak began in a lab that was researching bat-coronaviruses, contrary to China’s claim that the pandemic emerged from a Wuhan wet market, according to multiple sources that briefed Fox News.
The sources told Fox News that the initial transmission of the virus looks to be bat-to-human, and that “patient zero” contracted the disease while working at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, before going into the general population. While the lab is China’s first to achieve the highest level of international bio-research safety, known as BSL-4, its work with bats had been conducted at the lower protection level of BSL-2.

A BSL-2 lab is basically a bio-safety cabinet (BSC) vented back to the room with a HEPA filter. Easy to have a spill, needle stick, or have something aspirate (Aerosolize) and make it through the engineered air flows that protect the worker. That's right. In a BSL-2 lab bio-safety cabinet, the protection for the worker is simply a directional air flow. 82% of all laboratory aquired infections cannot be traced to an event (needle stick, aerosol event, spill). Many workers block the air flow with clipboards or procedure directions. Only supposed to work with viruses & bacteria of low potential harm in a BSL-2. Misuse of BSCs is common and not all brands of BSCs are robust - many simply meet the minimum requirements. This could have easily started as a improper disposal of contaminated lab trash or poor BSC maintenance. The fact of working on this virus in a BSL-2 lab means many avenues of infection are available. Very serious mistakes here.

Thanks #1 for the explanation of the BSL-2 lab. This is very troubling especially knowing that the NIH provided this dangerous lab with grants.

Of course it came from the lab.
The Chinese made up the market story.
They didn't sell any bats there.
People have been living with bats for century's,it just now jumped.
Now some Chinese guy is saying it jumped due to dogs eating the bats.
Bats that don't live anywhere near there.

What I find more incredible is that the Chinese shut all of Wuhan down which included domestic flights but international flights were allowed to export the virus to the world. That was all willingly, purposely, knowingly, and intentionally done but yet the MSM ignores this crime along with the FISA police abuse. Apparently they can's wait to live in a totalitarian system.

What do Pentagon officials say about the status of 300 US Soldiers who returned from Wuhan in October? Still waiting.

Two months ago, ZeroHedge posted articles containing the videos and the translations from China about the Chicom virus being created in the Wuhan lab BY scientists and doctors (alive at the time, now dead) who worked in the lab and who treated people who worked in the lab. ZeroHedge was and still is banned by Twitter for posting those videos, because...well, ZH does not subscribe to Xing-Xing-Ping-Pong and the WHO as ultimate and truthful authorities. And, this article is a violation of Facebook's new "fact-check; anti-conspiracy theory" policy.

Interesting that, as this narrative comes out about the origination of the virus, it is stressed over and over that, although it “escaped” from a laboratory, it was a naturally-occurring virus, and not engineered. Which, of course, makes me thing that it was engineered. Within days/weeks of its release, all protests in China stopped, Donald Trump’s economic successes for our country were wiped out, and the United States was brought to its knees. It’s beginning to look like a story is being crafted to minimize any questions about US involvement with the engineering of this virus, which would’ve occurred as early as 2011.

That wet market lie is no different than Hillary's "Benghazi was caused by a video" lie.
My husband has a PhD in genetics, and he has become much more concerned about coronavirus19 after seeing this video: https://www.theepochtimes.com/coronavirusfilm
This is a bat virus that someone tinkered with in that lab THAT WE HELPED FUND. It has some HIV type tips that appear to have been added, which make it more effective at getting into a person. This is unethical for any lab to be working on and I see no purpose other than germ warfare.
We need to stop funding any research in China and stop educating Chinese students who are sent over by the communist party!
Trump needs get a big 'ol "cancelled" stamp for the paperwork on our debt to China.

Indeed, it emerged from a lab, Tobias. Now, while you are at it, would you mind researching a few more questions. What is the mission of the Wuhan lab - research and/or bioweapons development? Why was the Wuhan lab experimenting with this virus? Tell me about their security measures. Did the lab develop the virus or did the lab purchase the virus from an outside source?
What is the Wuhan lab's relationship with outside labs such as the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg Canada? What was the deal with the two Chinese researchers who were fired from the NML in 2018 for sending an unauthorized virus sample to the Wuhan lab as reported by the Canadian msm? Can you explain why two other Chinese researchers at NML are now under investigation by RCMP and their credentials having been pulled? Was the sample sent a COVID19 sample? What was the Wuhan lab's relationship with the University of Texas virology laboratory in Galveston, Texas?
Was the virus "release" from the Wuhan lab engineered and planned by Xi and the Chinese Politburo? How could it be that Russia's Putie just happened to be ready to start a crude oil price war with Saudi Arabia precisely when the virus outbreak went out of control in the United States thus crashing our stock markets and oil and gas industry? What was the Rothchilds' role in the planning of this pandemic and was it a conspiracy from the very beginning but, made to appear as an accident during a US election year?

Interesting skullduggery, but nothing will come of it. Unless business leaders bring manufacturing (especially of critical items) back to the USA.

Has all of this happened because its an election year? Did Trump's enemies, local and worldwide, create a pandemic and collapse the global economy just to get rid of him? Is this what we have to look forward to come every Presidential election year from now on? There don't seem to be any boundaries anymore.

Dr. Fauci's CDC funded the Wuhan Lab to research bat virus to the tune of millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars. When will the feckless Congressional Committees began calling witnesses?

Many informative posts about the Wuhan Lab on this thread. Having worked in the lab many decades ago, this story about the Wuhan Lab fascinates me. So many questions have popped in my head. First of all, what was the purpose of this Lab? Who was responsible for managing it? What were the safety measures taken? Why did the NIH fund this lab?
Funny how this happened after we placed tariffs on China and they signed the Trade Agreement. The timing of this is suspect. I don't think whoever did this realized how virulent this virus was and the damage it would cause. I don't believe this happened by accident. Remember how the government lied about Benghazi! that was minuscule compared to this. This is why the WHO has to be held accountable. Excuses are not acceptable. If there are any other Labs growing viruses in the world, they need to be shut down and held accountable.

Aside from the very pertinent information about the true nature of the Wuhan Lab, let's review some basics.
First and foremost, China is not our friend. Start there and never forget it. They have beeen cleverly collaborating with us only to the extent that they can steal our technology, increase their own industrial and military capacity, and make us dangerously dependent on them for strategic goods and resources. Why have we done this? Because our giant corporations wanted to greatly expand their markets. Because politicians and our universities wanted to get bribes, grants, money, prestige. And because every single person on this forum loves shopping at Costco or Sam's Club and getting cheap clothes, pet food, and tennis shoes without caring where all that crap comes from.
Wake the hell up, everybody! China is setting the battlespace and testing exactly how best to take us down without having to fire a single shot. and more importantly, without having to take a single shot.
So what's the antidote? Quarantine China. Get ALL our manufacturing out of there (Apple, I'm looking straight at you!). Greatly limit and control the number of university student and science exchanges with China. Aggressively pursue criminal charges against Chinese hacking and theft of our military and industrial secrets. And, if necessary, boycott their goods. They must pay a real price this time.

I would put more faith in the information if it came from reliable sources and not U.S. Intelligence. Also the lab is not "near" the wet market but 20 miles away.

I first found this information published in a blog called ZeroHedge, written by Tyler Durden on Jan. 29th of 2020. it is still up if you want to search for it. I passed it on in late February to a professor friend who agreed that this was nearly certain to be the source, and he opined that it was probably released due to incompetence - he had a Chinese post grad student working in his lab for 3 months until he was fired for incompetence, and that person had a PhD. He has first hand experience with degreed Chinese incompetence.
So, 2 1/2 months after it was published on the 'net, the media and "intel" finally figure it out. Boy that is some impressive work. Not.

The documentary I watched, a couple of days ago, proved that no horseshoe bat virus can infect humans; and what the lab was doing, was taking the S protein from the SARS virus and adding it to the coronavirus, so it would infect humans.
That makes more sense than anything I've heard so far, and if it's true, then China has some serious explaining to do. Most likely, they were creating this virus as a biological weapon, but had no intention of using it until they had the cure for it; but it got away from them and infected the whole world.

I'm getting tired of hearing that the coronavirus is not a bioweapon because, based on its molecular structure, it appears to be naturally occurring. An anology: Guns, because we manufacture them are classified as a weapon. A great big stick that we pull from a tree in our backyard, is not technically a weapon because it is found in nature. However, I can use a big stick to bludgeon another human being to death. The officials better get this right,: If China leaked this virus deliberately, and not accidentally, they have waged war on us.

So far, zero evidence that the virus has been modified. IMO, even the ChiComs are not that stupid. We might get evidence in the future, but just proclaiming it is a claim without facts.
DNA has two parallel strands - a built in backup copy, so when one strand is damaged, DNA repair enzymes rebuild the missing piece, copying the backup copy - the other parallel strand.
RNA is a single strand, normally used as a "scratch sheet" inside a cell, copied from DNA "the permanent copy", used and tossed.
These viruses only have RNA, so only a single strand, and that is far more susceptible to random damage/changes than double strand DNA.
RNA viruses like COVID-19 tend to mutate relatively rapidly. This is why we get a new influenza virus out of China every year. Pigs, ducks and people living together and viruses from all mixing in the feces on the floor and ground. Broken RNA gets randomly joined. 99.99999% of the time nothing happens. Sometimes it is a new, functional virus.
I seriously doubt this was made intentionally as a bioweapon. RNA viruses "jump species" all the time.
