The federal government has issued constantly evolving criteria for Americans to return to work safely during the coronavirus crisis, while various governors this week began adding their own layers of rules for reopening states for business — a process increasingly leading to partisan disputes in state capitals.
The guidance has ranged from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention saying on March 7 that “contact tracing” — finding every sick person and figuring out who they’ve interacted with — was recommended but “not practical or achievable in all situations,” to Tuesday, when California Gov. Gavin Newsom said contact tracing will be a key benchmark for reopening

Since government workers are not being laid off, I doubt if any of them feel the same sense of urgency as those in the private sector.

I heard that PA will start laying off state workers. As it should be. They can join the unemployment line like all others in small business, nonessential, etc.
As for U.S. government workers, they need to be called back to work. If they feel that they will get ill, then they can use their leave. Once the leave is used up, then they are on leave WITHOUT pay. After a few weeks of no pay, they will come to their senses. If the U.S. government opens, others should follow, unless you are in a state with democrat governors. They are making their constituent's lives a living hell.

Yesterday I viewed a video of runways and taxiway full of parked airliners. The last I heard was the not a single TSA worker has been laid off even though the have noting to do. They do get to "work" from home every third day. A relative, a health care worker has been laid off 3 weeks and it may be a month or more before they get back to work. Many small businesses will never reopen. All of this is unnecessary and a huge overreaction, particularly by the governors and local politicians. I'm angry and will not vote for an incumbent unless there is a very good reason. I plan on a complete prohibition on voting for any Democrat (D for dictator).

PA may be laying off state workers but that weasel Wolf is right behind Whitmer in overreach. Masks, and he vetoed a bill they sent him trying to open things up.

If you watched the traffic mess in Lansing, MI yesterday, you understand it doesn't matter if you are a Democrat or Republican, you just wand OUT! If you're a Democrat, living under a Dem Governor, you still won't be happy being stuck in lock down when other states around you are opening up and allowing everyone their freedom! If your Dem governor is a Tyrant, like the Gov in Michigan, you're going to vote her out first chance you get. Doesn't matter if you are a Democrat or not, you just want her gone. That applies to any State! People want their Life back. Most of us think things went a bit overboard and it's time to right the ship! I for one will be out and about on the first day it's allowed!!!

Fauci and his NIAID, the CD, FDA, etc can take their immunity cards and shove them. How convenient that we now learn there are three strains. People die every day and year from all kinds of diseases, illnesses, car accidents, etc but apparently those deaths are meaningless unless you die from this oh so special COVID-19. And why is Fauci appearing on all these new shows?

"...contact tracing..." Unbelievable. This is the same lib-style brain trust that wanted anonymity for anyone with AIDS, which was at the time an almost 100% fatal malady. Sure, who wouldn't want to live in a world they run?

If state workers are laid off in Pennsylvania, very few people will notice. PennDOT workers have been the butt of jokes for years and for good reason. Out of a work detail of a dozen you might occasionally find one moving. As for the Turnpike, take out the toll booths and the state will stop losing money on this unionized gang of pirates. All DMV functions can be done online, I haven't been to one of their offices in years. The state liquor stores should have been converted to private enterprises decades ago, as in most other states. The state is overrun with deer so the Game Commission can go also. Let ambitious hunters thin the herd to a manageable level.

They need to open up, period. Stop dancing around. Open it up, perhaps gradually, but open up.

Our damned Demonrat governor of Kansas announced today that "it will be a few more weeks" of shut down. One third of all the counties in Kansas have ZERO cases. Another third of the counties have single digit cases. Nine counties have from 10 to 20 cases.
Basically there are three counties in Kansas which account for 2 out of 3 of all the less than 1,500 cases in the entire state. Seven counties cover about 1,200 of the under 1,500 total cases (80%) in the state. I am in the most populous Kansas county, with the second most number of cases - 334 cases, and about a dozen deaths in our county.
Let the other 102 counties go back to normal, keep those seven counties for a bit longer.
One size does NOT fit all, even within the same state. Our governor, Laura Kelly, is too stupid to grasp this.

Most of their 'rules' are nothing more than last ditch efforts to retain their Jackboots grab at power and control. I suspect that Trump is going to have to go to court when all is said and done. The governors are sealing their political fates here, and I have to think the TDS infections are worse than we all thought. I have never seen so many democrats and Uniparty RINO types who are so eager and willing to ruin their political futures as what we are watching right now.

Last year, PennDOT opened a license center across the river from Harrisburg. It's a nice place in a safe neighborhood.
No tolls for the PA turnpike. They send a bill to the non-EZ Pass drivers. (3 weeks after I drove across the Tappan Zee Bridge, I got a bill for $5. No surcharges. Easy to pay.)
I escaped from NJ to PA a few years ago. I'm glad I live here.
