There’s nothing like a crisis to bring clarity. The response of some mayors and governors to the coronavirus pandemic in recent days has made it clear they think they have unlimited and arbitrary power over their fellow citizens, that they can order them to do or not do just about anything under the guise of protecting public health.
We’ve now witnessed local and state governments issue decrees about what people can and cannot buy in stores, arrest parents playing with their children in public parks, yank people off public buses at random, remove basketball rims along with private property, ticket churchgoers, and in one case try—and fail—

Now we all know WHO they really are. Vote them out of office. Get involved.

They don't care who you vote for. The elections are already rigged and the winner determined before the primaries.
Plus they are professional politicians. Most have never held an honest job. If the sheriff loses he will just run for clerk or assessor and get that.

Those mini-Mussolinis began their lust for power over others when they were in grade school. Back in the day (think early 50's) when I was in grade school, the thing everyone wanted to be was a "Patrol Boy/Girl" for the week. Wearing the Orange Cross-Body Belt that designated them as one with power elevated that child above all Peers, allowing him/her to give orders on the Playground or to tattle on someone who broke a Rule! That's where it all started IMHO!

So AG Barr is "Monitoring" the situation, and may do something about this next week. O.K. sure thing.

The author has hit the nail on the head when she notes, "That these officials need to be reminded...and restrained by judges, bodes very ill for America." Davidson speaks to yet another failure of our educational system when almost none of our citizens even elected adults know the source of our rights (our Creator), or constitutional limits of power. Even more frightening is realizing that our usually inept
judiciary is (next to owning a gun) the last bulwark against executive overreach. May God and Remington help us.

What we are witnessing is the very reason we exist as a nation. We are seeing human nature and the role that power plays in some of the least desirable aspects of humanity. We are seeing what consolidating centralized power can cause, and why the concept of individual sovereignty was so important to our founders. We are seeing the dripping irony of a global catastrophe caused by a totalitarian communist regime as a pretext for greater government power and control.
We are witnessing how fragile our freedom is and how dangerous the forces of big government have been and how close to the brink they have brought us. I think they call it fundamental transformation.

Their screaming inner totalitarians are emerging. Power corrupts, and the lust for it is the poison that fuels political ambitions. We shouldn't be surprised; rather, resolved to crush their overreaches.
We've been largely cooperating to minimize risk for each other. Don't push it.
King George III didn't like the push back; they won't either.

This article seems to have left out the word "democrat". It seems as if they are the predominant "tyrants" involved.

Yes, these dictators need to be restrained by judges. Problem: Concerned citizens will have to enter the state legal maze if your county judge is the one who is "translating" the executive orders and establishing penalties. Fortunately, around here it's an elected position; unfortunately, he was just recently elected.

#10 You are exactly right. The tyrants ARE Democrats. We have a Democrat governor who sent the State Police out yesterday to take down license plate and VINs on cars parked in the church parking lots.
AND then we have our idiot Democrat mayor who "forbid" a church from having services yesterday. The church sued him and a Federal Judge upheld the First Amendment. He also told the mayor to go pound sand. That would be Mayor Greg Fischer, the dumbest mayor in the nation. It mad the national news yesterday.

I hope that one day many of these ridiculous charges will end up in the Supreme Court and be ruled illegal.
Well: I can hope can't I?

It may take something a little more forceful than outraged editorials to quash these petty tyrants.

Our sheriff, a 'former Democrat' who changed his party affiliation to Republican the day after his election, was quick to show his inner Mussolini, by imposing a curfew on our Parish. A curfew is good after a natural disaster like a hurricane, when the do-nuffins do their early Christmas shopping, but it serves no purpose during this pandemic. I agree with Posters #3&4, they started in grade school and most never held any job in their sad lives except as glad-handing elected politicians. Politics is where you find former crossing guards, hall monitors, presidents of the PTA, the home owners assn., school board president and on and on and on. It's all they know. If you leave them go long enough, you get a Pelosi, Schiff, Schumer or Whitmer.

The problem with letting the DOJ or the courts deal with this stuff is that correction comes long after the fact. Justice delayed is justice denied. The message to the tyrants is to go ahead and do what they want and if they later get slapped on the wrist, who cares.
Sure I have seen people acting stupid, young beach partiers, church goers crammed into pews. Those are egregious acts that need to be dealt with and can be with broad orders applying to all like, no gatherings of over 10 people especially on public property, especially when social distancing is not being observed.
We need to keep track of the tyrants and point them out.

Right on. Leave petty tyranny where it belongs, on school boards and homeowner associations where no IQ or talent is required and they make sure that rule is followed diligently.

Folks of Michigan better get control of this tyrant Whitmer before they lose their democracy. Notice how these little folks with the DNA of Kim Jon Un begin to flex their draconian tendencies given the chance. Wonder how many of them are Democrats?

At the very least, these mini-Mussolinis should lose their positions and be forever barred from holding public office.
