A Change.org petition demanding the recall of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) went viral on Saturday, quickly shooting well past 80,000 signatures.
The online petition had about 60,000 names in the morning and, by the afternoon, had surpassed 80,000.
It read:
Recall Governor Whitmer. Her failure’s during the Covid-19 Corona Virus is causing more Michiganders to get sick. Closing and banning various non essential business’s and activities while leaving others open. Further promoting the pandemic. She has lied since day one with her #Fixthedamnroads which she has failed to do anything in this regards. The response to #PFAS was negligence and completely removing funding for #PureMichigan

Should be 800,000 and increasing exponentially. Proves that tyrants don't always have to look like Hitler/Papa Doc/Idi Amin. Sometimes they are somewhat-attractive females. And sometimes they look like The Beast Herself!
A happy, healthy and blessed Easter to our gracious hostess, staff, Taste Police, and all my fellow L-Dotters.

Our Republic is based upon "We the people" who are well able to make our own decisions about dealing with COVID 19. Politicians like Ms. Whitmer are only responsible for giving us the facts.

Oh if only I had known about this recall petition. I would have spread the word far and wide. Michiganders that I know are disgusted and frustrated and certainly embarrassed by the actions of Gov. #HalfWhit-mer. She is not only a disgrace she’s dangerous.

Hope they recall her and elect a Republican! I can't believe she is forbidding residents from going to their summer homes "Up North". It's a tradition for many to do that and if they continue to quarantine themselves, what is wrong with doing it? I think the Governor had decided she is Queen of the May and and can run the world!

Years ago when I lived in Michigan, there was a democrat politician that was the height of arrogance and was also power-mad. He went too far one time and the people threatened to recall him. His reply? ''I'm not worried about it, the people in my district are too stupid to recall me.'' You can guess the results of that one. The Michigan governor seems just as arrogant and power-mad. It can be done, Michigan, go for it.

Folks need to be re-taught the lesson of Harry DeMaso. He was a long-serving Michigan state senator from the Battle Creek area in the '60's and '70's. I lived in his district at the time. He was a decent Republican legislator. Then some unpopular tax bills came before the Michigan legislature. Harry was warned by many constituents not to vote in favor of those measures. Harry voted for them anyway. A recall was mounted. I remember signing one of the petitions and then voting for his recall in the subsequent election. I don't know whatever happened to Harry after that, as he sort of dropped out of the public eye all together. It gave other Michigan legislators "religion" for a long time. Seems like a new generation of voters needs to teach a new generation of politicians Harry's lesson.

Does fix the roads mean pave them? I've never seen so many dirt roads so close to major towns in my life.

Gun stores are non essential but you still get pot and liquor.. can’t buy paint at big box stores, or yard and garden.. but if you go to hardware store you can get paint.. you can’t golf , can’t get landscaping mulch delivered but a pizza can be delivered and paid for.. the “up north” travel is so spread of virus doesn’t overwhelm small hospitals.. but .. people from out of state can go to their up north Michigan home.. we have done socially distancing Well.. the last move was a power grab- a see me see me Joe- I want vp spot..

People can grouse all they want, but there has to be some real action taken. Does an on-line petition carry any official weight? Or does it just make people feel good, as if they actually accomplished something? I'm not sure anything such as this online can be verified. Are all the signers real people, or just bots? You want this, but not voting on-line. Do it right with a printed document and real signatures that can be easily verified. Or just forget the whole thing.

80,000 signatures calling for her recall is roughly 3.5 times the number of cases of Covid-19 in the entire state. Too bad she's not up for reelection until 2022.

Tell me if the definition of a Dementor in the Harry Potter stories don't fit the definition of contemporary Democrat politicians:
"Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them... Get too near a Dementor and every good feeling, every happy memory will be sucked out of you. If it can, the Dementor will feed on you long enough to reduce you to something like itself... soulless and evil. You will be left with nothing but the worst experiences of your life."

She is many times worse than the pre Katrina governor Betsy Wetsy, who refused to declare a state of emergency so Bush could get his resources into her state, thus eliminating days of delay. Like Governor Betsy Wetsy, somebody is telling Governor Meathead that all this is making her look strong and like a national leader, worthy of being picked as the Biden VP. Not only is it not, but it is constitutionally illegal what she is doing too. She needs a strong dose of political obscurity, and needs it NOW.

Can she be recalled? They did it in California with Grey Davis.

I hope this is the beginning of a backlash from true Americans, to elimate any despicable democrat in any political office. They all bring bad socialist news. Seattle or maybe even the state wants to ad 40 to 50 cents per gallon for home heating oil and natural gas. It's time for a revolution or just plain revolt. The states plan is everyone must use electricity for cars, heating, etc. God HELP Us.

It will be hard to mount a serious legal, written recall petition as long as she keeps residents under lockdown.
In the meantime, I'd feel so much better about the online petition if it had been proofread for apostrophe errors. Just sayin'.
