Last month, the media jumped on the news that the United States had more confirmed cases of the coronavirus than any other nation. That was bogus on two fronts. First, U.S. intelligence agencies believe that China is lying about its true numbers, (Snip)
Second, the United States does not lead the world in coronavirus cases per capita—which is the best way to compare how the pandemic is being contained in each country. For much of the pandemic, Italy has been overwhelmed by the coronavirus, but Italy has fewer cases and deaths than the United States. The United States has nearly six times the population of Italy, and when you measure cases

Back in February while browsing the internet one night, I came across an article about how they were finding abandoned vans full of body bags showing up all over Wuhan. People weren't able to get into hospitals and decided to stay home and die from the virus. Obviously, these death were not never counted or recorded. I read this is true from other countries around the world, perhaps our neighbor to the south. The world is like a powder-keg right now. Corrupt governments will not be truthful nor should be trusted.

Gee if it's so bad, maybe destroying the economy and making everyone stay home wasn't the best strategy.

It's apples and oranges. You CANNOT compare the numbers from a country of 330 million to a country of 60 million and assume there is little or no difference. I am afraid ignorance runs amuck.

There is one other factor, the US reports anyone that has COVID and idies as a COVID death. It down't matter if they happen to have terminal cancer, an acute heart attack, end stage kidney disease on dialysis and or debilitated and demented. If COVID is positive, COVID is the cause. Other countries don't report positve COVID and death as related. They look at comorbidities. So the definition is skewed to increase deaths due to COVID in the US. Might that be politically expedient for some enterprising politicians?

A problem in the logic here is that If the death per capita is the yardstick, them the issue about whether China is lying their number of fatalities is irrelevant; their total population is so immense that even with a very large number of total deaths, their per capita death rate is low

I would hate to think that the fate of our next election rests on the MSM being able to understand data normalization and explain it to millions of unemployed gig workers that never had a statistics course in their lives. Hopefully, if these people go back to work and stop watching the propaganda machine that is trying to direct their lives their short attention spans will protect the rest of us from their panic.

In case anyone missed #5's point, the CDC is inflating Wuhan-virus deaths, so the number of alleged deaths in the U.S. cannot be trusted either.

In our sad state of the nation, if you die of the regular flu, bacterial pneumonia or fever you will be counted as Coronavirus at the request of CDC/Birx/Roseinstein’s sister. No need to be positive after 2,800,000 tests. This inflates the death numbers incredibly, to the degree that we have cured seasonal influenza totally, which has had 0 deaths for weeks. It’s an Easter miracle. These are all fake doctors unable to recommend hydroxychloroquine or Remdescivir to those about to die. Empty hospitals throughout the country and lots and lots of unused ICU beds and respirators. The whole idea of physical distancing was to protect hospital personnel. Well, Drs Bill Gates and Tony Fauxi were completely wrong with their modeling and the economy is now in agony. Fauxi never did a double blinded test on the efficacy of home confinement. Sweden is doing much better than the USA with no distancing and schools open. They have a season called the Spring in Sweden. President Trump, please let us go back to work May 1st.

I agree with all the posts here. The WHO lied, the CDC lied, the death rates are overinflated, the media lies about everything Trump has done and said, even though he has been correct and spot on with his handling of the crisis, and now Tedros has been exposed for the corrupt political tyrant he is. Since Trump mentioned how we have given the WHO ten times what the other countries give (including China) and yet we were misled by them (in favor of China's propaganda), Tedros (who Bill and Melinda Gates helped promote to the head of the WHO) has been trying to make Trump look bad now.

On April 9th ( the last date the IHME bothered to enter data for ) says that 42 people died in my state. Odd. Indiana heath department says 28 died. That was the peak. Since it's been 11 and 5. So who is lying?

China only reported 8 deaths in Beijing - a city of 20 million + people a few hundred miles from Wuhan. Does anyone believe that?

It’s about per capita, kiddies. Much ado about what a swell job South Korea has done (population a bit more than 51 million) and comparisons with Italy (60 million). Ignorance is bliss?
