DETROIT — Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden is joining a growing call for the release of comprehensive racial data on the coronavirus pandemic, which he says has put a spotlight on inequity and the impact of “structural racism.” Biden’s Medium post on Thursday said he is joining Democratic congressional members Ayanna Pressley, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren and others who have also called for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other agencies to release more data. Biden said he wants data released on income, too, to better help allocate resources to communities in need. Biden acknowledged this

What a waste of time this would be. It would be necessary to capture and adjust raw data for cofactors (and not all are even known) before a conclusion can be found. And age is the predominant predictor of the worst case outcome (death)...not non white genes.

Perhaps PBS could give Yamiche Alcindor this assignment since she seems to have a keen instinct for detecting racism.

I think I know why Covid-19 affects POC the way it does: When a POC walks by some infected object, say, a store counter, the infection jumps from the counter into the POC's nose or mouth. That must be it.

How have they let President Trump off because sickle cell anemia only affects blacks. Surely the President had a hand in this , back. before he was even born. Just ask Alcinder or Acosta!

The governor of Maryland had to pass an order for Baltimore that fined or jailed any group of people who did not adhere to the social distancing. This was done because large groups of citizens were just gathering on the steps of homes or on the corners talking or partying. The special people of Baltimore didn't think the six feet apart rule applied to them.

Clearly, the reason for the preponderance of the virus in the "American" community of color is the sad fact that diabetes, obesity and other "preexisting" conditions have a strong foot hold in ethnic communities. Additionally, people of color have more of a propensity to live in larger family units where grandma and grandpa are part of the household, which is actually a good thing. But in these perilous times grandpa and grandma have to be given some space to avoid catching the virus from asymptomatic relatives.

I guess the race hustling liberal Democrats can claim that the Chinese corona virus discriminated against African-American communities in the big US cities and demand that the Chinese Communists pay reperations!

Hey Joe, Where you going with that dumb look in your eyes? Let's get racial data from China, Spain, Italy and other places where this virus is killing folks. And then the usual straw man 'structural racism' canard comes into play. So Joe, you're claiming the ront line doctors and nurses are just a bunch of racist? Really Joe?

First of all, #4, it was the democrats who kept the blacks in chains. So maybe someone should inform Biden?
#8, the dems have always been the true racists. Remember Jim Crow? It was always the democrats who held back the blacks. From pre-Civil War days on it was always them.
I know most posters know that, but a little refreshing doesn't do any harm. Sometimes we tend to forget to remind others of how bad/racist they were and still are.

NYC, New Orleans, Detroit.... What is the percent of black and minority makeup of these cities? Add to that black/minority have a higher chance of being in an 'at risk' group. No wonder they are infected more. A little common sense answers the question saving the need for a 'study ".

If this virus primarily affects POC, then Trump has shut down the nation for the health and well-being of the blacks, Hispanics, etc. So how can he be racist? All of this was to protect the POC!

The virus affects a wide swath of humanity. The fact that Africa has been largely spared should put a damper on the racial division angle (although it won't).
