Lansing, MI — After Friday, Michigan residents will no longer be able to jump in the car — or cross the street — to visit friends and relatives inside the state, or to go to the cottage Up North, with limited exceptions. That is one of the major changes in Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's "stay home" order, issued Thursday, which also extends the expiration of the order to May 1. Until now, travel between two Michigan residences has been permitted.

I don't see people following that order. Most of my family live in Michigan, and I could see them telling Gretchen Whitmer to pound sand. I don't think that's enforceable (at least with my group).

No petty local tyrant can erase the right to peaceably assemble. Nobody is bound to obey a law that is so clearly unconstitutional.

We are not only not permitted to travel, Governor Whitmer has also taken it upon herself to decide what we can and cannot buy at the stores that remain open. No more clothes, garden supplies, etc....these items now need to either be removed from the shelves or roped off to protect us. Apparently purchasing these items is dangerous now. She claims that they are "not necessary to sustain life" and will help prevent people from browsing in the stores. It is not for her to decide! Michigan's virus crisis is 85% contained to southeast Michigan. Apply the restrictions to the hot spots. Some of the now forbidden items might be necessary to someone in Michigan's Upper Penninsula where it might be a long drive to the nearest store. Whitmer has also limited the number of people allowed in each store based on a store's square footage. Thats sure to create long line of people waiting to get in and be really inconvenient for essential workers who will now need to go to work and then spend their time off waiting in line to get into the grocery store for diapers and formula / milk.

Re #4, people have the government the majority of voters wants… That is what is going on in California. The Democrats have more registered voters. The No Party Preference voters, whom many view as “independent”, are often anything but.. Or their preferences are all over the map. So if registered voters vote on party lines, in California and other places, the majority wins. Too often, Democrats.

#4, generally that's right depending on where you live. I live (thank God) in a conservative county in Oregon. My Governor is an idiot as well as my two Senators. MY vote has never meant anything here!

While Whitmer was telling everyone to stay home, no going out, and no you are not allowed to got to stores and buy stuff, here's a list of forbidden items that I think that you should't be allowed to buy in stores anymore for your own good. You don't need clothes, household stuff, garden stuff. Only food and medications. Stores need to rope off or remove the forbidden items. We need our stores to look more like Cuba or Communist Russia's did. Then Whitmer talked about how the economy was taking a hit. and we needed to do all we could to help keep businesses going. If Whitmer wants to keep business es going, let them sell stuff and stop restricting them!

FTA: it is still OK to travel north to visit a state park, but not to go to a cottage or home, Whitmer spokeswoman Tiffany Brown confirmed.
So will the cops being using GPS to spy on people to make sure anyone heading north is going to a public state park and not their private vacation home?

Wipe downs, masks, quarantine of those known to be exposed to the virus, and tracing of infections is what is needed. leave commercial activity alone. Something like this was done in the 1940s and '50s for several diseases, it worked quite well.

This is what happens when a Public Emergency is declared. Many legal protections go out the window and if the governor doesn't assume dictatorial powers, then the locals do it for him/her. Governor Abbott's executive order was pretty reasonable, but local dictators have stepped forward tightening the screws with ridiculous nonsense and of the course the local media trumpets all of this crap. Since our governor doesn't get on TV and put these tyrants in their place I have to conclude he's fine with it. And he lets state agencies run rampant. Big disappointment.

I own a (very) small bookstore in Oakland county, and had been shipping books to our customers during this fiasco. Now today’s order looks like I’m not allowed to do that. I know that amazon in Michigan is allowed to ship everything they sell. Not enough that amazon has steadily crushed us over the years, now the governor is picking winners and losers. I intend to re-open when we’re given the all clear, but this death by a thousand cuts may be more than I can overcome.

My husband went to an elderly friend's house today to take her a face mask that I'd made for her. Did not go near her, just left the mask at her door. So I guess this would be illegal? We can't just leave these elderly isolated and without help.

I have heard that here in Georgia that we are not supposed to go to our vacation homes. I have a small lake cabin that we we are heading to tomorrow. Tough titty, governor. Some of our politicians are going to find out that we can still throw tea in the harbor along with petty tyrants AKA politicians.

I am tired of being a prisoner in my own house. Feel like I am in the Diary of Ann Frank. But the Governor of my state, Georgia, said I'd be charged with a misdemeanour if I left my house. So I'd be charged with Home Escape and be sitting next to folks charged with Home Invasion. I'll know the end is near when the Post Office stops delivering letters from the AARP.

Bite Me is considering her as a potential VP candidate. He is so unstable mentally, and promised to only serve one term, so this makes his VP choice ULTRA important. Nobama was a tyrant and flaunted the Rule of Law, Hitlery would have WITHOUT question would have been a tyrannical power-mad dictator--
Can you imagine Whitmer as your new president when they quickly dispatch "Mr. Corn Pop"??

People have been expected to say enough for weeks. They haven’t said Jack. And the sheeple won’t. Next they’ll be told to move into the basement or into an interior room without windows. And they’ll comply because “experts” and government they wouldn’t trust a few weeks ago for the correct time told them to.
