For weeks now, nearly every media outlet has behaved as though the Covid19 virus was a cause for celebration. They broadcast the numbers like they show the stock market or election returns. It is positively ghoulish. Even Fox News, which used to have more sense, has capitulated to the hysteria; that network, too, is all in on manufacturing panic and fear. They are engaged in panic-mongering. They are encouraging the wholesale destruction of the American economy. The worst are hoping and wishing for that outcome.

And those two really stupid female doctors they have on make me scream and change the channel. I would never have either one of those for my doctor. They whine. The young one with the dark hair literally whines. These guys would put a DNR on my chart.

I keep waiting for President Trump to wake up and realize that there is a very good chance he is being played. I don't trust Fauci. Now the modelers are saying they don't know how the Administration came up with the numbers when they were the ones who predicted them. Elderly, people with pre-existing conditions should be staying home. Let everyone else go back to work! Unfortunately, the media and Dems have created mass panic. It may already be too late.

Freedom and safety is always a balancing act. Think how many lives could be saved if we had a national speed limit of 12 miles an hour. Of course that is absurd. It would be like reverting to pre-internal combustion engine days and productivity would drop to near zero. But until they have started distributing hydrochloroquine by the truckload and have an abundance of testing kits available, I would prefer we all just relax, trust our President, take a little two or three week vacation and be safe. When the "all clear " whistle blows people will be out spending like crazy again and things will recover faster than we can all imagine.

With all due respect, #4, many people cannot afford “a little two or three week vacation,” and even if they could, that original “vacation“ time keeps getting extended further and further. Small businesses deemed “non-essential” in my area have been shuttered for 6 weeks now, with no end in site. And, I live in a state with a very low infection rate and a minuscule death rate. The government has been able to do this by telling us to just relax; it’s only a couple of weeks.

Oh, it's just old people who are dying. Who cares then, let's party! But it's not true. Plenty of younger people are getting serious forms of the virus disease. The house is on fire, the fire is still spreading, and people are saying, "We need to get back to normal! Send the firemen away!"

(1) this is a media event. They LOVE crises— a good death/funeral; a disaster (tornado/hurricane); any good catastrophe so their expert contributors can look officious. (2) my personal modeling says if we don’t nip this stay home mandate in the bud this week, ventilators, masks, and PPEs will be the least of our problems.

These two articles from the American Thinker are reasoned and thoughtful. The problem is recognized and approached effectively but not extravagantly, as we have done. It seems presently that our governors are in a contest to see who can destroy his state the fastest. Also, South Koreans are sticking together, while we, with our heterogeneous population, re race, origin, nationality, and the half who would sacrifice their mother to destroy President Trump, have made the task much more difficult. Still, reason will prevail. I agree with comments about Dr. Fauci, a preening, destructive egoist.

WHEN we have at least doubled the number of tests and strongly QUARANTINE any who test positive, then we can talk about setting the Country free. Then the ones set free will be mostly healthy. It should take about 3 weeks to reach the required level of testing. Maybe anyone who wants to return to "nonessential" work should be tested FIRST.

Actually #6, what appears to be happening is that a bunch of scared and mostly retired old people are pushing for total global economic collapse because they are scared of the flu. Their fear is hurtling the greatest nation in the history of world into totalitarian rule and generational poverty. I am in my 30’s and immunocompromised so I guess I can weigh in as I am in the protected class. That’s the American way now, right? Healthy young working people are legitimately worried about being able to provide for their families. Our futures are evaporating in front of us. We are living under martial law. My confused young children have had everything in their lives canceled indefinitely. We are locked out of church. The greatest economy on earth is being destroyed and, as a result, the greatest healthcare system in the world will decline into deadly mediocrity. This virus probably won’t kill me because I’m young. But poverty, totalitarianism, and lack of decent healthcare definitely could. Those of us in the protected class much choose sacrifice over selfishness. I will gladly take extra precautions for myself while letting others live in freedom. That’s what being an American is all about. It’s time to put an end to selfishness and lunacy and go back to work.

I think Trump knows very well what Fauci is doing. Pence does too. It is possible that he was waiting for Fauci to dig his own hole before letting him go. I think Dr. Stephen Smith would be a much better addition to the Team that Trump has. Let the media whine, and tell them to just sit down and shut up. They exacerbated so much of the crisis with their panic mongering that no wonder suicides have skyrocketed to alarmingly high levels in three months, all because those poor folks have been convinced that the world is going to collapse on them, simply because they lost their job.

Yes, President Trump is walking a fine line. By doing so, he is looking very presidential, like a true leader. Meanwhile, the democrats and their stooges in the media are looking really bad. On top of that, President Trump is using the democrat's strategy against them. He fully understands the tactic of never letting a crisis go to waste.

#9 "...anyone who wants to return to "nonessential" work should be tested..." Fine, but that only means the virus wasn't present when the person was tested/swabbed. They could get it minutes later. There are no guarantees, so let's stick to the social distancing and cleaning and get back to work

While the Trump administration is forecasting some 100 - 240k or more deaths from the coronavirus scare (and lots of hell) over the next few weeks, South Korea is well on its way in sliding out of its bell curve since the middle of March. South Korea was also hit pretty hard with this virus, being right next door to China. (snip) South Korea has a crowded population of some 52 million people crammed into a geographical location about the size of Indiana, a perfect situation for a pandemic to spread – but it didn't.

Everyone is up in arms about the fact that the Navy brass fired Captain Brett Crozier, of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, after Crozier complained about people on his ship being infected with COVID-19. To many people, he was a lone man fighting a hardened bureaucracy on behalf of the men and women in his care. To others, though, he was a dangerous malcontent who placed his entire ship at risk by ignoring rules that exist for a reason. The report about Captain Brett Crozier, whose ship, the USS Roosevelt, was docked in Guam, broke like a bomb on March 31

The mass hysteria over COVID-19 in the U.S. is driven in large measure by misleading statistics and bad math about the disease’s body count. (snip) The problem starts with the fact that the highly influential statistics from the Big Apple paint a false picture of what is actually happening. In New York City, the death of anyone who dies who tests positive for COVID-19 is counted as a coronavirus death. This is the case even if the coronavirus failed to play a significant role in the person’s passing or illness. This calculus violates established scientific standards.

Racial data on coronavirus will be critical to ensuring an equitable and just response to this crisis across the board,” she wrote in a tweet, referencing an article from the Atlantic. “But we don’t have that data—yet,” she added:
