An ABC News investigation offers sobering insight into how COVID-19 has spread and penetrated so broadly, so deeply and so quickly in the United States. It also helps explain why Americans, no matter where they live, must continue to heed the warnings of health officials to self distance and why the virus likely was here far earlier than first realized.
With the advent of COVID-19, the world has officially entered a dangerous new phase where a surge in international travel in recent decades served as the springboard -- jet fuel, really -- for an infectious disease potentially to kill hundreds of thousands in the U.S.

Is this the same ABC news that called the President racist for restricting travel from China early in the game?

Remember the article yesterday about John Lennon's son who slammed the media for spreading Chinese propaganda?
At the end of the article: "Could China have announced to the world a couple of weeks earlier that there was concern that a SARS-like outbreak was occurring? Possibly,"
POSSIBLY?!?! are you kidding me ABC News ? It took 4 of their "Journalists or Propaganda pushers" to write this article.
Their Baseline is "Anything to make this Trump's fault".

These days, I view "ABC News" as simply a mouthpiece for Chinese propaganda. Prove me wrong.

Was this written by Captain Obvious? I am glad they got this piece of information validated by a decorated research group--FTA "a different team of researchers from the University of Toronto warned that the outbreak could quickly jump from Wuhan to other major cities because of international travel."

About half way down in the article, there it is: President Trump was late to close the border.
These people are evil.

Remember while the President cannot stop Americans from re-entering the USA after foreign travel, he is on sound legal grounds to stop foreign nationals even if they have US visas, from entering the USA during a national emergency, especially if they may be carrying a contagious disease which could easily infect millions of Americans. Also remember, that based upon the data and information available to him at the time that the President banned foreign nationals from entering the USA if they had been in China within 14 days, with the Democrats immediately attacking the President as being a racist and a xenophobe for taking that Presidential decision. That immediate Democrat ridiculous “shoot from the hip” response was a reflection that the President, by making that necessary decision, was impinging upon Democrat and DC “UniParty” globalist and “Open Borders” concepts, that common sense will tell you at the moment are absolutely bad for Americans and America. However the President kept moving and has essentially banned all foreign nationals from entering the USA.

Juar imagine how many millions and millions higher it would be from all over the world if Hillary had been elected. People would still be flowing over the southern bordet daily. Our medical system would truly be overwhelmed. And as for Dems saying we weren't prepared, why didn't their all wonderful Obamacare have supplies and equipment stockpiled? Why were governments spending for solar panels and unisex bathrooms instead?

If China had been more honest about the true nature of the threat, maybe more would have been done sooner and we would ALL be better off. This is the lesson of Socialist/Communist control of information. It has damaged the whole world.

I work for a major Texas university which began cancelling interviews with foreign students in December when we first heard about the virus. All faculty and current students that travelled abroad over Christmas break aelf-quarantined for at least 15 days upon return. From what I’ve read most Texas universities have taken similar actions, in addition to working from home, skeleton crews at the office. Of course universities have no say so over private citizens that travel overseas, nor private sector businesses or government business. But if universities can take on the tough decisions - common sense decisions - others were as equally capable. It starts local, taking care of yourself and your community. We have become such a global community with the unwise open borders concept that it is an utter wasted exercise in futility to attempt to lay blame at any one thing. Tons of “blame” to go around. Trump ordered flights from China to cease and was criticized. How much worse would it had been if he’d not done this?

So, what you're saying, ABC, is that national borders are ESSENTIAL all of the time since we never know when a new virus from another country will start making the rounds.

You don't think that this was the first use of a Bio-Weapon against a major power in the world? China knows quite well that we have very porous border and used it against us. They could care less if 1 billion Chinese die to make a point to President Trump about sanctions and threats to Winnie the Pooh !

In the days of sailing ships, it took months to get anywhere, so the crew and passengers were quarantined on the ship, for better or worse. Occasionally there were stories of 'plague ships' where everyone died, or ghost ships, found aground on some far shore or sailing in circles with only dead on board.
In the 50s when we moved to Hawaii, our dog had to be quarantined for several weeks before he could come out, I was too young to remember exactly what disease they were protecting Hawaiian dogs from, but will that sort of thing happen again? Seems unlikely, people want instant gratification, travel to and from distant lands literally overnight. The price is the easy spread of diseases.

If you think the number 3.4 million “travelers” entering the USA is big, you have not seen anything yet, as about 40 million foreign nationals enter the USA each year on temporary visas as tourists, for business, as foreign students, and for all sorts of other supposed temporary reasons. While most of those foreign nationals generally abide by the US immigration laws after their reason for entering the USA has been accomplished by leaving the USA as agreed. But an undetermined number of foreign nationals who entered the USA with temporary visas, probably about a million a year, do not leave the USA as required, and go on to join the huge illegal alien population that is sojourning throughout the USA.
