A German cathedral has dug out from a treasure chamber its collection of remains of St. Corona, the little-known Christian martyr who has been purported to be the patron saint of resisting epidemics. The Aachen Cathedral had already been planning before the coronavirus outbreak to showcase the remains and an elaborate shrine to the saint as part of an exhibit of gold craftsmanship, according to Reuters. But it has now accelerated its plans after the pandemic began sweeping across the globe — though it remains unclear when people will be able to visit the display amid strict restrictions on public gatherings. “We have brought the shrine out a bit earlier than planned

Not a shred of evidence she has anything to do with epidemics. But I will celebrate her feast day, May 14. As I will all days of May. Actually I celebrate every day I am alive.

I stood in the chapel in Aachen wherein Charlemagne was crowned. It's octagonal, Romanesque and was built before 800 A.D. Don't remember the Mexican beer saint on display.

“You have people praying to the patron saint of treasure hunters, which seems to be against CDC guidelines,” Moss told Religion News Service." So the CDC now creates guidelines on the veneration of saints? It's more than any previous state regime ever hoped for: authority in this world, and in the world to come.

"Corona virus" is a class of many, many viruses - it is a total misnomer for this particular virus. By all the previous norms of naming viruses, this is the Wuhan flu. Can't very well be the Chinese flu, since essentially ALL the influenza viruses come from the Chinese medieval flu factory that they call a country. Where else but medieval rural China are ducks, chickens, pigs and people living in the same house/barn?

Well, once again Reuters has got it all messed up. St. Corona is the patron of treasure hunters and gamblers. She is also known as Stephanie, which means "crown". It is logical, in the way humans think, that those unfamiliar with Catholic saints would grab onto her name and suddenly proclaim her the patron of a similarly named virus. It is also logical, in the way the enemedia think, that this was an opportunity to take a swipe at Catholics by mocking the Communion of Saints. During Roman persecutions in Syria in the late 2nd century a Christian man, Victor, was arrested and tortured until death. Corona, possibly his wife, went to the prison daily to comfort him and for that she was also martyred. She was tied between two bent palm trees, the ropes cut and she was torn in two. She is recognized as the patron saint of lumberjacks. In Catholic theology there are three states of being for souls; the Church Militant are the souls on earth, the Church Suffering are the souls in Purgatory, and the Church Triumphant or also known as the Communion of Saints are those in Heaven. The Church Militant and Church Triumphant pray for the souls in Purgatory, the Church Triumphant pray for and may intercede on behalf of the souls on earth, while the Church Militant prays and enlists the aid of the saints in heaven. Every soul in Heaven is a saint, whether publicly recognized by the Church or not. Life is eternal. Our individual lives are eternal. Who we are; our interests, talents and loves still remain "us" through eternal life. We will still have interest in those living on earth and in their salvation and will continue to pray for them before the Throne of God. Catholics call it the Economy of Salvation, where prayer and grace are the coin of the realm. For those who find it strange that there would be a saint for "treasure hunters and gamblers" do not be scandalized. Treasure hunting can be either honorable or criminal and St. Corona can help the honest and also lead the dishonest back to God. The same can be said for gambling. There is a patron saint for every possible profession or line of work for both protection and guidance. The saints are as invested in earthly life, and the salvation of Christ for every soul is their eternal life's work.

After 9/11 there was much talk of the “death of irony,” along with calls for mandatory national service and widespread support for the idea that it was time to put away childish things. Then Rudy Giuliani went on “Saturday Night Live,” Lorne Michaels asked him, “Can we be funny?” And Giuliani said, “Why start now?” The relief-laugh that followed this impeccably delivered punchline set the stage for a return to normalcy. We could be silly again. We all went to see “Zoolander.” The coronavirus has already caused far more disruption than 9/11, and figures to take far more lives, albeit in slo-mo rather than on one fireball-strewn morning.

You know, I’ve lost a couple of children. I’ve lost a wife. And it is incredibly difficult to go through. And it’s harder to go through when you haven’t had an opportunity to be with the person while they’re dying,” Biden said, briefly choking up during a CNN town hall. “Seek help afterward. Seek help. State police, meanwhile, have begun pulling over cars with New York state plates. Gov. We’ve had a very large increase in attendance because it’s such a safe place to go.” Cars at the drive-in are now placed up to 12 feet apart to assuage any coronavirus concerns —

It has been a very long time since Americans last saw such a clear distinction between the considerable leadership qualities of their president, and the shameless political maneuverings of an opposition party constantly lusting for power. Let us review exactly what has happened in this country over the past two months, vis-a-vis the coronavirus pandemic. On January 29, President Donald Trump created a White House Coronavirus Task Force to coordinate the federal government's response to the virus outbreak and to keep the American people as informed about it as possible. At that time, you might recall, congressional Democrats were giving precisely ZERO attention to the coronavirus threat.
