The political aspect of the coronavirus crisis is developing in a familiar way. The president’s enemies in the press have led the propagation of panic in the country, and have been given enough encouragement to do that from the scientific community, some of whose members are enjoying their 15 minutes of world fame a little more than is seemly. President Trump’s opponents are thus able to swaddle themselves in the legitimacy of science as they hurl their brickbats at the president.

While true, few se it that way. They were doing their duty informing the public of the horrors that were coming if they did not comply with the craziness. When it's finally done they will trumpet how all these measures saved lives, despite the horrible leadership of PDT. Truth and facts don't matter...this is an historic election year. The game is to dump Trump, and this seems to indicate the UNIPARTY and elites will go to any measures to make that happen.

FTA: ''As is his custom, the president has given his opponents plenty of ammunition by speaking constantly, leaving a rich trove of contradictory, and in some cases, it turns out after a few days, absurd reflections on the medical and related problems as they unfold.''
Gee, Conrads hindsight is impressive!
Even Conrad Black can't discuss the press without making comments about what he thinks are negative qualities of the President. The press is deliberately creating fake news, misinformation, and lies about facts. President Trump is not deliberately doing that, so why does Black try to mitigate the press' behavior with comments about president Trump? There is no equivalency. I suppose the Political Correctness/media bubble is too hard to resist for any writer.
Can any writer, conservative, or not, write a story about the media- or any other issue- without telling us what they think is wrong with the President?

The MSM has been screaming 'FIRE in the Theater' for years.
I would turn off all their access to govt. owned/regulated facilities...
Internet, Phone Network, Satellites, Network Access, prevent their newspapers and other printed material from from moved over public roadways...you get the picture. As long as they are essentially illegally twisting the news and causing panics, shut them DOWN!

ps...they can have all the Freedom of Speech and of the Press they want, they just can't use publicly owned facilities to do it!
Hey MSM, get your soap box, set it up on a corner and you are free to yell your garbage there!

I found this one of the more negative and pretty harsh articles by Mr. Black. He is basically criticizing President Trump in every paragraph.
I do not disagree with all of his observations, but really? Is now the time sir?

The headline was click-bait. He just criticized the POTUS throughout the whole piece.

Go Go Go !!! Vote for Joe. Let him nail down the nomination so hard that Hillary !!! couldn't catch him. Then let the real Dems, Pelosi et al, figure out a way to steal it from him. Time's getting short, maybe he will test positive because he touched Greta Thunberg's hair.

May I ask why the media is not concerned the CDC estimates 30, 000 people will die from the flu this season? Why is this virus drawing so much press? It's hard to watch.

I despise the media in the United States for whipping up China virus hysteria. Perdition to them all, and perdition to China, the source of the virus.
What I have done is turn off the television. i do not watch the news, regardless of channel. It helps only a little.
Limiting time on Internet helps a little, too.

Just this one thing: it doesn't really matter if President Trump isn't perfect. To anyone in the real world, he is either doing the job, or not. Most of us think he is. A crises like this carries a unique truth: all we expect is leadership. From this President, we are getting it. The press carping and venom shines clearly as just that; after all, what are they doing?

The media took their own personal fears and pushed them onto the rest of us as news. Most of us react with commonsense, having lived through plenty of flu epidemics that were indeed epidemics. This has been not nearly as bad, or as fatal as the regular flu.
The media did not see this as their duty to inform, no. They have stopped doing their duty as the media decades ago. Instead, they saw this as the last ditch cudgel that they could damage Trump with heading into the November election. They proved they do not care about the public when they jumped ugly on Trump for offering hope in the form of talking about possible therapies that NIH/CDC and others are working on at the moment.
How dare Trump undercut our narrative of fear and panic by offering commonsense and hope! Pretty much every liberal/democrat in congress and the media right now.

Most of the time I cannot read Conrad Black's articles. There is almost a casual negativity to his writing and I won't continue reading to the end. Even #6's post motivates me to say something. Everything about Conrad Black screams elite. Enough said.

The media go from one panic to the next, now creating and spreading perpetual pants on fire panic. Our media wants no peace or happiness, only misery, grievances, and newly discovered micro-aggressions are spread by our media. The masses must be inspired to crush everything the Democrats do not advocate. The masses must do it, so the Democrats will not be put in jail for it---although we know the Republicans never would.
