Four Republican senators are warning that they will oppose the $2 trillion coronavirus response package unless a “massive drafting error” in the legislation, which they say would create an incentive for employers to lay off employees, is fixed. "You want to destroy what's left of the economy? Pass it the way it’s written," Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said in a press conference. "If you want to help people, pay them their wages, but don’t pay them more not to work."

As Senator John Kennedy recently said a couple of days ago, this is a country that was created by geniuses, that is currently being run by idiots. That’s the only way, except for under the covers dirty tricks Democrat politics, that such a huge “drafting error” could make its way into such important legislation.

I have watched the news all day and not one reporter has even asked if all the pork is in the bill. What did the Republicans negotiate? Just another cave in. McConnell has to do much better. They should have a press conference tonight but they won't. Graham and Kennedy seem to be the only ones speaking out loudly. They should all do it.

Even 100% of pay is too much. Why go to work when you can make the same money staying home? We all will have to make sacrifices for a month or two.

This sounds like an Obama era trick...give the unemployed more $$$$$$ than they receive if they return to work....hmmm so Trumps unemployment numbers will be high!!!

Bernie Sanders has announced that he will filibuster the bill and block its passage if the draft language errors are removed. He sees this as helping working people by laying them off so they can earn a decent wage.

The demRats will try every trick in the book to get their way. A few good things about the virus. The American people now know that we need to be energy independent, manufacture everything in the US, a border wall, that the media is the enemy and that the demRats will stop at nothing to destroy this country.

The Dems want everyone on unemployment making $24.00 an hour to destroy Trumps good unemployment record and bankrupting small business, going into the election. The Democrats are an evil party and need to be decimated.
When this happens in business Trump does the take away. Republicans should do the same and find another way to pay people to buy food with other sources of money for the time being.

Why are Graham and Kennedy the only senators on TV? Where are the others? McConnell should have a press conference tonight outlining all the pork in the bill. He won't. He should be objecting loudly. I don't want an angry floor speech that nobody sees. Lead for once and hold a press conference in the evening with other senators. Same old, same old for Republicans. Typical cave in.

People are DYING while Democrats load up a relief bill with pork.
Don't threaten them with exposure -- make it all public, like Senator Cotton has done. This isn't just a war on the Chicom virus, it's a war against corruption, and against socialism.

How long does it take to draft a 1400 page bill, such as Stretch presented? Like, maybe, they KNEW something before this farce hit?

* Fox News' Caroline McKee contributed to this report. --- “Somehow” the current version wound up with the possibility workers could be paid more in unemployment benefits than their current wages “by sticking a $600 per week payment on top of ordinary benefits that are calculated as a percentage of income” which would further disrupt the labor market. Senator Graham, astutely, is wary that it may be possible this was not a drafting error, but the explicit intention of Democrats. Couldn’t possibly be a Leftist ploy to delay, delay, delay could it?
